  • @wildshadowstar

    The usefulness of some of these gadgets comes from their use, but the final determination comes from how easy it is to clean them up after using them, especially with things like the two different potato mashers.

    • @brandyfreeman4098
      @brandyfreeman4098 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Also, that cherry-pitter is frighteningly effective. You could probably have some fun if you set up some paper targets and kept the pugs out of the room, 'cause if one of those high-speed pits hit Boston or Amy, you'd lose a lot more than 1000 points.

    Hi Barry, something to consider trying are Castelvetrano olives. They are bright green & the brine doesn't make them taste vinegary & imo the ones with the pits are the best. They are actually considered sweet because of the way they effect your taste buds as you chew them but they are buttery & nutty, just a beautiful olive, considered the best of the best in Italy & around the world but pretty easy to find & affordable.

    When I was a kid we visited the grandparents farm every summer and would dig up lots and lots of potatoes and bring them back home. Long story short, one year, I had been aloud to take a small pail of potatoes wash them (clean them up) and store them the same way we did the unwashed one. They needed to be used by the time my summer was over where the unwashed ones lasted over the winter. Not really a good experiment but it gave me a hint of understanding that not washing them helps them stay longer fresh.

Everything from petrified chicken ( classified as a deadly weapon) to turkey so tough and flavorless I was questioning when it was actually cooked! Down to a beef contaminated salad which caused a allergic reaction. One can only live on 2 cold quarter sized biscuits and gravy for so long. Just be glad you didn’t have to attempt to eat any of what I tried to eat.

    If you have corn on the cob then you should cook it and eat it off the cob, because if you want just the corn are you not better just getting a tin of sweetcorn?

      Fresh corn tastes so much better than corn from a tin. I know a lot of people strip it off the cob & freeze it when it's in peak season. That way they have fresh corn all year long.

    The thing with potatoes and dort: if you wash them, they start to grow out faster. Means for longer storing time a little mud or dirt proves that they have not been washed.

    Not sure that cherry pitter is legal in the UK. The pint glass is old-school. We played with versions of that when I was in Junior High back in the 80's. But that can opener and the steamer are now in my Amazon "wish list".

    The potatoe mud thing is yes a thing. I smell the potatoe bag it should smell of dirt so you know there are no bad ones. She isn't the only one. They come out of the ground when "new" almost clean, they then wash them and add dirt for people like her lol

    19:06. sounds like a form of OCD. we all have bits of it. mine involves my dvds and having to eat dinner in a certain order. like a chicken curry, i have to eat the chicken first, then the sauce-covered rice, then the plain rice.

    The collapsing cup is a really good gadget if you have to take medication at school or in a public area when I was a kid I use to keep one in my pocket and fill it before I went to the school office to take my meds lol I really liked it 😅

    Nitpicking - root vegetables with mud left on will last longer in storage.(and if you are paying for them by weight,more profit for the sellers).Carrot recipe should have been tangerine juice as it is less sweet,honestly it does make a difference !

    One hotel where i worked and "lived-in", for staff food we often had carrot/orange soup, leftover from the conference that day. No, we did not like it either.

    Potatoes with mud on last longer. The cleaned ones are already going off by the time you buy them from light exposure. It's why the farm shop potatoes in the massive sacks last so long and the supermarket ones barely see a week out

    The curve on the ring lid opener reminded me of the curve on a hammerhead, not a roofer's hammer those are flatter. Years ago I had a popup glass similar to the popup pint. It was great for when you are out and about and the kids need a drink.
