    The only logical reason boxes are kept is because having boxes increases the exchange value of the phone while you're buying the new phone. People don't just keep Apple boxes, they keep phone boxes in general for this reason.

      We all keep the box in our house (mixed brand household lmao), because it's useful for storing an old phone as backup, or when it's still good but you want a new one and sell the old one it's worth far more etc!

    Same with all phone boxes. I keep some of them because of the device's gadgets like spare charger, spare headphones, needle to pop SIM cards etc.

      @@stephenbranley91 Where I work we usually heavily encourage you to keep your original packaging when it comes to defective returns [I.E sending it off for repairs, as the Manufacturer has a easier time with the Seriel number.]
      However, when it comes to actual returns. We almost never accept devices that have a different packaging, because we need to be able to sell it again, therefor the original package as well as it's contents need to be intact.
      This is in Germany, so it may be shop to shop that is different, but by us it's definitely the "OG packaging or no deal" situation.

      Keeping the boxes in case for a later sale rises the resell prices.
      And sometimes people buy even used devices as a gift for family and friends (especially expensive apple products) and a box is there just nicer than the device alone.

      I also realized it was an issue once I moved, but bit the bullet and threw all my boxes away. Empty boxes take up so much space, and it’s so nice to not have a corner taken up by boxes that you know eventually (even if it’s in years) will be tossed.

    Always keep your phone box no matter the brand. Your phone's IMEI and serial number is on it and you might need it someday (e.g. if it gets lost or stolen).

    I keep my iPhone and Mac boxes because I usually sell them after 2-3 years of use. When you list them on marketplace with the box and the receipt, it’s proof that you’re not selling a knock-off and that you’re organized in a way, and people will pay more than the average price of other listings because of that.

    You have to keep those boxes with you because if your phone or device got stole the police uses the model number of your phone which is written on those boxes so they can trace it's location and will recognise if someone is trying to change the SIM of your phone

    It's just good practice in case you need to ship your phone for repairs under warranty. Me and my dad ALWAYS keep the boxes for this scenario. By far not everyone or even a majority, but a lot of people still do care so much about having the newest of the newest that they upgrade everytime a new version number comes out. Nike and Adidas for example wouldn't be half as popular as they were because it's definitely not the quality of the wear that's keeping them in bussiness. It's people wanting bragrights for having some status symbols on their person. Same goes for iPhone and Samsung models. As per which argument, why on earth care for the resale value if you're not reselling the phone to those that don't care for the newest model but still want a new phone?

    We always kept them in some drawer, just in case the product got damaged and needed to be shipped back for repair. A soon as the product left the house because it got to old, the box landed in the bin as it had no purpose anymore.

    i keep boxes and the internal packaging materials of most expensive items, especially ones that don't lose value quickly in case I am able to resell them. If you keep your stuff in good shape, you can often recoupe like half your cost by reselling online when it comes time to upgrade the thing or it is no longer of use to you.

    i usually keep boxes of the more expensive objects i buy in case i need to send the item in for warranty. i worked at a service repair shop, and there were so many shipping damages we had to record, because people were to stupid to properly secure their packaging.
