Made this today thanks for the recipe , turn out perfect , I’ll soak it a few times before Christmas, i think I may make a creamy cherry brandy sauce on the side 😜 , I was able to find browning sauce easily here in Toronto Canada due to the very large Caribbean community, thanks again
Love the way you made the black cake. It reminded me of how my mom did hers. I looked at a few videos but yours was the closest to my mom. Can't wait to make mine and soak with some good rum. Next unto the pastels. Thank you for sharing. 🇹🇹🎄🎄is the best.
Kess used to seem so stuck up at first. I really like her now. Plays her part with excellence. Great show. I learn so much from you guys. I live in Barbados.
I don't know if it's an old ppl thing cause my mom father rest her soul used to do that as well 🤦 and now wen I have the empty tins I'm like 🤔 what to do what to do💡🤨😁
Made this exact recipe this afternoon... into tonight. Dec 2020...and I tell you, the entire level of the house smells like Rum Heaven!!! OMG Yum! Thank you so much for sharing this a writing ot the recipe. It's slightly different than my mother in laws and it's just magnificent!! Made 2 jars of browning before I started and it's Black! :-) My husband and I still laughing at the Danish Butter Cookie tin filled with sewing supplies. Ha ha ha ha ha We both had that growong up. My hubby grew up in Port of Spain..I'm from Belfast Northern Ireland...we met in Canada.Funny thing is that we BOTH had Granny's that had sewing box "tins"!! Brilliant 1 cake recipe. Many Thanks...Merry Christmas Food Nation folk!
Made this morn'; batter extremely thick...!!! Did not "pour" at all. Maybe should have added some alcohol to the batter???? Did not get dark probably 'cause I used molasses. In the oven now.
Hello, thank you for sharing such a lovely recipe ! I am going to try it :) Do you know if it's okay to use unsalted butter or is salted butter okay? (I'm in the US and regular cream butter comes either salted or unsalted)
There is now specific way to soak fruits you put the fruits in a glass jar and pour the alcohol or non-alcohol juice on the fruits days or months or even years on the fruits and let it sit!!
May I use molasses for the browning?????? I love sorrel...!!! I make sorrel, too...with rum...LOL. I watched a black cake recipe where they added sorrel concentrate to their marinating fruit. I'm going to add rum & brandy to my fruit. Marinating my fruit today: raisons, currants, cherries, mixed peel, cranberries, prunes, dates; adding 2 bay leaf, nutmeg, cinnamon stick. Then rum & brandy; let this soak forever, process then use in YOUR cake recipe. What do you think?????
mine gets eaten in a couple days and that's only because I hold my family off 😃 I never got to have it "cure". I also add some red wine to the soak (got that tip from my sis-in-law).... really nice.

Was wondering if anyone makes and sells trini black cake online?
Great recipe, but i used grape juice instead of liquor/ rum/ wine. And i soaked the fruits over night, and blended the next day.
I was lucky to find brandy soaked mix fruits in the supermarket- so if I am to blend this - what measures I will need for this recipe?
Hi nice recipe can u all do and eggless fruit cake and how to soak fruits videos thanks.
There is now specific way to soak fruits you put the fruits in a glass jar and pour the alcohol or non-alcohol juice on the fruits days or months or even years on the fruits and let it sit!!
Hi, I would love to make this, however I already had fruits soaking, how much will I need to use for this recipe?
Me encanta 🤗🎂
How many cups of soaked fruit should I use, my fruit has been soaking for a year
Look delicious😋

Which dark rum would you recommend using?

Great recipe. Where can you buy cherry brandy in the US?
Manischewitz has a cherry wine that works just as well, most liquor stores and supermarkets carry this brand.
We get this Christmas tradition from Queen Victoria of England.
Can anyone tell me the total amount of blended fruits in cups?
I have fruits soaking frm last year an I will love to use that but I dont know the measurements to use
I dont know...but you can check trini cooking with natasha...think she have 2 fruit cake recipes
@@anandramnarinesingh4219
Thank you Anand Ramnarinesingh
Season greetings
Same to you
Well Candy, in Jamaica, for a pound cake, we use 6 cups of soaked fruits, then coarsely chopped in blender. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas.
1 1/2 cups per cake
cool black cake next time put alot of jwb rum
Love her t _shirt. Its really cool !!!
However I use no eggs it turns out great !!!Lots of brandy though!!
Can you make punch a creme please
He has ponche de crime recipe
Too much browning
Merry christmas to u guys
Hi, could you be consistent with your measurements, you use ounces and cups☹️
All you need now is a glass of sorrel drink to go with that cake 😄
Where do u get the dark rum
Walnuts is good too
KIndly show us how to make stuffing or dressing.
But the christmas pudding is made with brandy not rum and the rum is what makes trini blackcake the best.
I really really like how you guys make the black cake y one day I want to go back to Trinidad 🇹🇹 y have mucho mucho fun to y eat some good curry chicken roti y go to the beach 🏖 to y hip hooray 😃 I want to wish you both you guys a Feliz Navidad 🎄🎁 y the rest of your Familia y Tequiero Mucho Mucho Amor 🥰 Desiree y Familia 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇩🇴🇩🇴🇹🇹🇹🇹🏖🏖🥰🎁🥰🎁❤️😘❤️😘Viva La Trinidad 🇹🇹 y Viva La Portugal 🇵🇹
Please give the measurements
Hi, will it be good to make the black cake without alcohol? If yes, what can I soak the fruits with? Thank you for sharing recipe
Grape juice makes a good substitute
Steam wit cranberry juice and malta ...use same method as the blk cake..glaze wit some malta n cranberry juice after removing from the oven..
COULD YOU MAKE IT WITHOUT BROWNING..
IT TASTES SO MUCH BETTER!!
You can do it to your liking, but without the Browning it's just fruit cake!!
To the moon and back!😋😋😋😋😋
Belly full!🤣🤣🎅🏼🎄🥁🥁🥁🥁🎵🎵🎵
My background is Puerto Rican, Trini and Cherokee Indian. Im a reddish brown skin tone with brownish green eyes from Staten island Ny
How do you make browning?
Better to buy...
Chef Peru, I love all of your videos and how you showcase trini cooking! However, you sabotaged the black cake with nuts....keep it authentic!
I'm not a very young woman on my mother always add peanuts to her cake. I now put almonds. It's wonderfully decadent.Chef it's looking as good as mine
