I remember as a boy playing under my grandmothers bed and seeing the jars of soaking fruits in alcohol 😅😂😂 and this was in February march long b4 Christmas 🎄 R.I.P granny🇹🇹🇨🇦
The BEST step-by-step instructions and recipe for baking black cake. It was clear, concise, and thorough. Your recipe is easy to follow. I feel real confident about making and baking my first black cake for my family this Christmas. Thank you
Thank you so much for this recipe. I appreciate the ingredients being in grams - was really hard to find one in grams. I tried it and had great results- so thorough and well explained. You’re an expert for sure.
Wow... I love the easy steps and explanations. Didn’t know one could spray the cake with the rum before it's fully cooked. Always did it immediately after baking. Will definitely try it this year. THANK YOU!!!
Ladies, you had me tearing up here. Lovely video!!! When I looked at both of you, I saw me and my mother in her kitchen baking our Christmas cakes together. We bake about nine cakes in one big batch in a big tub. She's mixing and I am passing the ingredients and holding the stool that the tub is standing on. We ole talk and reminisce on all kinds of long-time stories (just like you did). I just love that time with her. This year I am trying to surprise her by baking them myself (wish me luck). But just looking at you two, I am now tempted to just let the cat out of the bag so that we can do it together. Oh... she does that SAME kind of measurement that you did with the Angostura Bitters..one, two and a long or big last one 🙂Seasons Greetings to both of you lovely ladies.
Yes, I think you should do it together. Instead of a surprise which would be for your satisfaction, give her the memory of the whole experience that will be much more satisfying for the both of you. Maybe, you can even record it, to look back at long after she's no longer with you. Wish I still had my mummy to bake with.
I just made my 1st rum fruit black cake using your recipe. It was So Incredibly easy to follow. It came out picture perfect!!! My family and friends absolutely Love it!!! Thank you ladies!! Trini to De Bone!
Never tried the bitters in black cake .great recipe ill give it a go love my black cake on the darker side and you are right no milk in black cake .love the amount of eggs for this recipe .saw someone beat the daylight out of the butter eggs sugar added milk and the end result the butter was broken and had white spots throughout the cake lol it wasnt a trini baker .soo keep up the great work and do more experiments on recioe give us your recipe on punch de creme and use the bitters in it stay healthy 🙏
This video showed up in my recommendations and I really enjoyed it. I am going try it this Christmas as I have never made one before you make it look so easy. Thanks so much for sharing! 😀
These lovely ladies have a fabulous browning, would love to know how they get it so thick and nice for the cake mixture. Can a video be made showing this thanks? Ladies what a lovely cake. Thanks for sharing
@@helenprescott8268 Yes!!! As the youngest in my clan, my mother gave me the spoon. I was so grateful when my brothers outgrew the bowl so I got it all to myself 🙂
This so reminds me of my mother and her friends’ Christmas cake-baking sessions. We had the neighbourhood old fashion stone oven in our yard, so the assembling was full and busy during the holidays. The competition was on 😊 Fond memories. Please advise your browning recipe. Thank you.
The seperation comes when you add to many eggs at on time rather than 1 egg at a time which curdles the batter. If it curdles you are to add a small amount of flour to prevent the seperation.
I've been looking for a Christmas cake recipe that i can "relate" with. And i found this, i love it and I'll be baking this ❤. Can i frost this? And what's the alternative for rum spray you used?
I wish these two lovely ladies would have introduced themselves and told us who they were (I am guessing mother and daughter?), or that eatahfood would have at least put their names in the description section. I would love to follow Aunty on social media for more delicious recipes because I have used this recipe about five times, and each time my cakes came out beautifully! 💕
Angostura your bitters is not original because it’s brown in color not pink in color and that cheap mixed you selling you rubbing we the people who can do something about this or drop your prices

"mmm hmmm! full of rum! i don't like drinking rum, but I love eating it!" we need a 200th anniversary Angostura t-shirt with that quote
Aunty is very articulate. Love your demonstration and precise explanations ❤
My 80yr old father-in-law and I made a black cake following yours recipe, excellent cake and excellent quality time.........merry Christmas 🎉❤
This looks amazing. Similar to how my late granny used to make it. The bitters are a must. Merry Christmas.

YES I WAS I !THINKING THE SAME THING...WOULD LOVE TO TRY THIS CAKE@@eatahfood
I remember as a kid my mother making her fruit cake for Christmas. DELICIOUS and I know it taste good.
Remember when we, the children fought for the bowl to scrape the remaining batter 😊

Ah, I've never used Angostura in my cakes, it always scares me cause its so bitter. Going to try it. Ladies thanks for sharing. Happy holidays
Perfection itself...foolproof👌👌👌
Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Very well done I certainly will try good job
My mom used the same method of bakung this cake and I use it as well
I would have added the fruits before the flour, that way is less mixing for the flour
Great video and recipe. Would love the recipe for soaking the fruits as well. Dried fruits to alcohol. Thank you.
Hi... Thank you for sharing your recipe💯... can you please share the recipe for your browning.

I'm definitely willing to try this
Want to try this for sure
Thank You Love the Tips.
Such a beautiful Christmas cake🎄🎄
Very informative 👏🏽 trini fruit cake is the best 👌🏽 😍
Beautiful thanks
I like this method I hate the taste of molasses also... thank u for sharing 😍😍😍👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

Thank you I learn how Ru mix plz tell me how to make the brownig🎉
Thank you B...it's been too long
..great

I've been looking for a Christmas cake recipe that i can "relate" with. And i found this, i love it and I'll be baking this ❤. Can i frost this? And what's the alternative for rum spray you used?
You sure can! If you don't have a spray bottle you can just do the mixture of Cherry Brandy and rum then pour it onto the cake.
Can we get a homemade browning tutorial?
Soon 🙂
Browning is the same that you would use for your stew like oxtail?
Yep! Same browning.
Can you substitute browning for molasses?
@@aHsydRAIN Yep, molasses is the more popular ingredient for Black Cake.
@staylor1244 lol. I asked the question at the start of the video. It was answered on the video. 🙏
Do you have a video for making browning? If so, would you please link it?
So Badwai the filming that happens on the channel is that in your own personal home kitchen? I was always curious of that
Yep!
I wish someone could come up with a 'e-smell' and a 'e-taste'. Man....that sure looks my my Gma's fruit cake. Tasteful video.
Great video 🇯🇲

How can I order a cake from her please? Would love to get one thanks!
You can't, that's why they gave us the recipe.
@@NosyPoseyexcuse me you must be new to this channel they have had persons do recipes before and then give a contact number to order the stuff!!!!
@@kimmyj2077 Yes, I'm fairly new. Nonetheless, you've asked the same question twice and they haven't answered so what does that tell you?
Sorry but she doesn't make to order. Apologies for the delayed response

I am drunk just looking at the video. My grandmother's recipe similar, but call for milk ...i will try it this way.
The recipe said 340 grams flour which works out to 1 cup is that an error or am i using the wrong conversion...how many cups of flour actually?
340g would be 2 3/4 cups of flour.
❤❤❤
Any baking powder
Yes there's baking powder in it.
Normally a tablespoon per cup of flour
Yes I've always used bitters.
Either rum cake or plain cake.
Love the smell
Cake not dark enough
I think its better without bp. Many people leave out the leavening agent.
This recipe sounds really good…. But it doesn’t look like a light cake… looks quite dense.
I enjoyed the video, however, I would have preferred the measurements in pounds and ounces.
Thank you! These are more precise measurements for bakers to achieve the intended results. But you can do the conversion if you like
Why you guys don't just put the recipe gull recipin cup and table spoon
No milk in black fruit is needed. The fruits in the cake will turn or curled the milk.
A gradual way of becoming a drunk...why not make the cake without rum... Spell Red Rum backward.. 😮
Angostura your bitters is not original because it’s brown in color not pink in color and that cheap mixed you selling you rubbing we the people who can do something about this or drop your prices
Why is it Fortay grams. What is wrong with Forty there us NO a in the word. Trying to sound posh is soooo ludicrous.
😂😂
💯🖤🙂
