This is an in-depth review of what it is like to cruise on the Celebrity Eclipse. I recently spent 10 days on this cruise ship sailing around Hawaii. During the cruise, I explored everything Eclipse has to offer. I participated in all of the events, discovered the entire ship, ate at every restaurant, and visited the casino, gym, spa, and every other place on this ship. This video is a comprehensive review that will set your expectations as well as offer some tips to help you decide whether Eclipse is the ship for you. I hope you enjoy this cruise review.

Been on this ship for 3 cruises and always managed to get the same balcony cabin. Love everything about the ship except the position of the closet, which is in an awkward position for ease of use. We never had a problem with the late music drifting up into our cabin. It's a very clean, great buffet setup and just right size ship for those that don't like the big mega ships.
Actually that is really a good point. You are right, the closet is a bit awkward. Have you ever tried Blu or Luminae restaurants?

This was a very helpful video. I'm planning my first Celebrity cruise and trying to decide whether to sail on the Solstice or the Eclipse to do a back-to-back Pacific Coast and Mexican Riviera.

I agree with most of your review. you forgot to mention that the eclipse was out of commission for a long time due to covid and this cruise was only the 2nd voyage since reentering service. therefore, a few kinks were still being worked out, including the production shows.
we loved the food as well. I didn't have the same problem with my TV so maybe that was just some rooms.
I didn't try the specialty restaurants so it was nice to see what you got there.

Hi Maryann! Good point about this being the second cruise back from the pandemic. Agreed, that could have an effect on the quality of shows and etc. Also glad your tv was good! Yea this is a beautiful ship. I loved the sunset in Maui. That is at the end of the video. So beautiful.
Was on the eclipse end of July great ship! Only down side wish they had the self serve soda fountains like RC has

I'm on the Eclipse in April we have been on the Solstice twice to Alaska and the South Pacific so we are looking forward to concierge class stateroom loved the Solstice this is a late birthday sailing.

Tnx for the insightful video. We are cruising this ship in May 2023. For your wifi concern, SpaceX's Starlink has been installed on - Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Eclipse…so should be better reception now.
We booked a Veranda, then saw the prices going down, so upgraded to Concierge. Thereafter, just before I couldn’t make any further changes, pricing adjusted again, so for 200$ I upgraded to Aqua class…I’ll save this video, so I can update you on the ‘Blu’ resto.

Its one of my favorites for breakfast.
I started working for Disney recently and was on a zoom call with the creators of the new ship about technology. There are reasons why Wi-Fi just sucks on most cruise ships. Bandwidth is a GIANT problem.
My recommendation is to get a star link with mobile capability. Hopefully if you have a balcony room you can put one of those outside and get signal.
Oh wow that is an epic idea! I never tried that but I wonder how it would perform in the middle of the ocean!
@@tomsunday one of the cruise lines is actually installing them for use on some of there ships. It definitely works in the ocean. There might be coverage gaps pending on satellites but in general it should work.

As someone who is very much splurging on a suite (probably a once in a lifetime thing) eating in luminae was a big draw. We are going on the APEX and the cost of a veranda cabin for 2 people plus the cost of the amenities you get now (premium drink package, premium Wi-Fi, tips and in some suites unlimited premium restaurants, comes to about $1800. There’s a few things I’m forgetting. Plus you get a butler, not a steward) you would pay about the same for a sky suite once you add that all together. That was at least on the sailing we are going on at the time we booked. I’m sure it’s different for every sailing/ship. But there’s no reason to feel like a second class anything. It’s a big draw for many people and people should do their homework…the sky suites if you are upgrading amenities is pretty affordable on the APEX at least. Celebrity cruises are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination when compared with Carnival or Royal Caribbean. My point is that people need to do their homework, especially when getting a veranda room.
Hey Sharon. Appreciate your insight. I can't help how I feel. Like I mentioned in other comments, it may be the old school cruiser in me but I don't like this new design. It reminds me of an airline experience. I do respect your opinion and thank you for the tips. I will look into the rooms you mentioned. I'm also going on a cruise in December. Hope you enjoy yours!

We are going to Alaska in Fall 2022 on Celebrity Eclipse. Does anyone know about the ship renovations and what was changed in the renovation? Thanks
It was a very light renovation. The video that you see was filmed on its second voyage after the renovation was done. Basically a fresh coat of paint for the outside. The major one is still planned in the future.

Hey Aidan! They had a few Comedians booked in the Eclipse Theater. So they did have a few.
May I ask how many free restaurants this ship got?
Sure. The main dining room, buffet, spa cafe, Cafe Baccio, soft serve ice cream, pizza and the poolside grill are all free.
What time are the shows on
It depends on lots of factors. Check your cruise planner for the schedule. They deliver them to your room every night.
I believe you can also see everything using the Celebrity app. Kindly correct me if I am wrong.
is the beef Wellington good?
Yes, its pretty good. I would rate it around 8/10. I prefer a little more mushroom sauce and puffier pastry. That is the only reason I would deduct points. Most people would enjoy this dish imo.

I stayed in a lower cabin. I was t GUI en a choice even before costs I would have paid for a better cabin but had no choice. I didn’t enjoy the cruise even though I am normally happy with any cruise. Very sad. I would never travel with celebrity again

@@tomsunday in all I found the staff mostly ok but we were on deck 2 and I didnt realise there were passenger cabins so low down. Even at guest relations we couldn’t find anyone whip could speak good English. Have to say dining room staff were excellent
I am Nortt goof with computer stuff and when I asked for help I was advised to contact the computer place in 6. I have travelled on cruises for number of years and was never treated this way ever. When I complained about loud noise outside for an hour I was told it was a plumbing problem and they would fix later. It as one am by then. They came at two am after I complained. Yes I had number of complaints with good reason. Their final comment to m was when I recuieved my bag on deck it was returned to me unusable. It was missing a wheel and had big hole going through to the inside. I can never use the bag again. I usually never complain but celebrity treated me very badly. I will be travel,ing royal careibeab soon and hoping for better treatment

Horrible experience! Ship has not left the harbor. We are stuck. 8/28/22 Vancouver to Alaska. This is a No cruise cruise. Would someone pay the fuel bill? We are still anchored and not left port. Will you let us off so we can go home???
Are they telling you why the ship is not leaving? I've never heard of something like this before. You are literally sitting in port and not moving for the whole day already?
@@tomsunday no movement. 13 hours still stuck in port. Captain blames it on a tug boat strike yet the RC and HA ships left yesterday on time. I would upload a picture of the fuel barge tied to the cruise ship if I could figure out how to do it. The fuel barge has no activity so who ever filled up the fuel tanks left somehow and got back to shore, leaving the barge here unattended. Does anyone know who we can contact for help???
@@maryhhome I am doing some research. Looks like Celebrity has an emergency travel team that is listed phone numbers below. The descriptons of their fuction can fall into this situation. I am not sure if they can help but Ill drop the contact information i find below.

@@maryhhome I remember we had a similar issue trying to leave the ship on the last day. Many people were quite unhappy. Ill go back to thoe posts and see if I can find out who they contacted.
It was a strike by the tug boat workers and they picked your ship as a protest.
Why so much dancing in the foyer instead of the Sky Lounge? Especially at night? I think only softer music should be played in the foyer for ambiance.
I don't think the ship looks like a Miami Hotel. It's like a modern interpretaion of a classic ship with retro/modern areas IMO. The Edge ships look more like Miami hotels in some areas.
It's a mature crowd but this is a 10 night cruise.
I appreciated your video. We're getting on the Eclipse tomorrow and booked a Celebrity suite. With that, I'll have too respectfully disagree with your statement about feeling like a "second rate citizen". IMO, that's a personal choice if you feel like that. Why? You had the option to pay the extra cost for a suite in"The Retreat". Why shouldn't people that more than likely paid 6/7x more than you get more? Even when I was broke and couldn't afford an inside cabin I felt that way.

My point about the second-rate citizen comes from an old-school cruising background. This reminds me more of an airline experience and I very much dislike it. Food has always been a key part of every cruise. Hiding it behind a 16,000-dollar paywall is unacceptable. I understand that Suite guests pay more. That doesn't mean that everyone else should get less.
@@tomsunday , I understand your point on old time cruising and that feeling, been there and definitely done that. I guess I simply look at it differently. It's like FC in the airlines and the FC bathroom. Part of the price is so you only have to deal with 20 people for the restroom as opposed to 200. We simply see it differently, you get what you pay for is something I believe in. Again, thanks for the video and respectful conversation.

And has the ship left the port? Going on 13 hours stuck here in Vancouver port. Captain says it’s a tug boat strike. Yet other ships left yesterday. Poor management. The fuel barge is still attached to the ship so we aren’t going anywhere. Hope you enjoy your suite.
@@maryhhome Nope, nada! And the Captains communication is terrible. I understand stuff happens, but there should be more updates than once every 6-8 hours. It will need interesting to see how Celebrity handles this. Regardless of where you're staying - people paid a lot of money and three first so I'd already ort if the question with the lost time.
Favourite ship Eclipse or Equinox?
It's a tough question. They are pretty much identical. I would say currently Eclipse, but I heard Equinox is getting a renovation soon. I would bet on Equinox once that happens. Celebrity does a very good job remodernizing their ships!
Any info about the refurb?
It's supposed to happen in the beginning of 2024. I'll check if there are more details.
While I am not into rock climbing , roller coasters or toting minor children along with me after viewing this video and a few others of this ship I am feeling that the demographic may be a little too "mature" for me . Would the Celebrity Ascent be a better choice for me? November 9 day Southern Caribbean.
I completely understand your point of view. Eclipse does attract a more mature crowd. On top of that, it really depends on the cruise and the time of the year. There are a lot more younger people during the holidays. Another very important factor is that this was filmed on a two week cruise to Hawaii. Not a lot of younger people can afford that trip and the time it takes to make it. If you were to sail on this ship during spring break on a 7 day cruise, you would notice a significant difference in the age of the crowd.
Ascent will have a more diverse crowd. Especially on a shorter sailing. I actually have a fresh video about the Ascent that came out yesterday. It's a much better ship than the Eclipse. Check out the video when you have time.
Quite the retirement home
It was a bit of a mature crowd. This Cruise is a bit expensive and requires 10 days of vacation. As well as a flight to Hawaii and time to get there. It's mostly couples and older Folks that can afford it, as well as take that much time.
