- Now we have a very keen retrieve its time to take a break from that and introduce recall and the stop/sit command. Using an edible reward I expect he will be pretty good at this in a weeks time.
Your videos are really so very useful to actually see how you do things and the progress that is made with your reinforcement. Excellent content. 👍
Some great videos you're putting up and steadily improving in each video, giving detail into what you're actually doing makes a huge difference. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to train a cocker or retriever for retrieval work.
Sam O . Thank you for your encouraging words. I have a friend to thank for pushing me to do these. I'm glad he did because I'm well pleased they are of use to others.
I'm from Australia and struggle to find any decent information on training golden retrievers for what they are actually bred to do, so again, these videos have been a great help.
Lovely dog
Great videos mate
Your videos are brilliant. Flash looks just like my bramble! Are you Yorkshire basses?
Louis Richardson Thank you for your compliments. I’m Lancashire based 👍🏼
Now he’s obviously a lot older are you taking him out beating? Does he listen well to you when you are out on a shoot?
Catherine Chudley yes I work all my dog picking up on shoots. Flash took to his first season like a duck to water.
Thank you for your lovely comment.
Thank you for the great videos. My sprocker is 15weeks old so I’m finding them useful. I think my bitch is a little head strong in comparison. What do you think of Chris Uptons training? Thank you
Catherine Chudley.
Hey, I think you find my approach different to Chris Upton.
All cockers appear head strong. Patience and a steady pace is the best approach, the transition in complexity should be seamless, that way your dog is less likely to get it wrong and therefore need correction. 👍🏼
That should tell you what I think of his approach 😉
