  • Winbeck Wigeon is 17weeks old now. He has a good understanding of recall, sit and can be stopped at a short distance. I’m now introducing him to hunting/quartering. I like to work with a little pressure on the dog as possible and allow the dog to develop his natural hunting ability before teaching him to properly quarter.
    Thank you for watching.

My working Cocker is going to be a house pet. 6 weeks old, but hard to train because she is so hyperactive. Potty training was easy but commands are hard because she is so easily distracted. But she’s scary smart and alert. Hope she settles down a bit.

My 11yrvold Angus is a very focused and steady 11yr old but incredibly young looking and acting..I believe he'd take to some training/re-guiding hi m to commands which yes not every had...such a lively characterful gentle sweetheart of an animal..whom I'm definitely in love with...but I'd love to a: give him chance to have a litter..b: use his natural inbuikt primal instincts in his instinctive woodland setting.. as he would love, love, love it...thanks very much

Great video mate.. I've got a wee conundrum in that I've been pursuaded to buy a clicker/whistle instead of a dedicated whistle as I'm told it's harmful and hurts so they pay attention..1stly do they harm..also do you rate the clicker training..how does it differ is it less affective as a result of the 1st point .

sion evans thank you for the compliments.
I’ve never bothered with clicker trainer as I don’t see the advantage it would bring to gundog training.
I’d be very dubious listening to the person who advised you about the whistle hurting there dog. I’m very concerned as to what they are doing with the whistle that hurts there dog.

Rob Sale there’s no failing your dog as long as you have a good relationship, patience and persistence will always make improvements. 👍🏼

    Hi Lee
Thanks for posting these videos. I picked up on you first one the day I collected our chocolate cocker bitch. She is a week younger than Flash, so I am pretty much using your videos as a marker as to where I should be with ours. Its my first dog so I'm experiencing the ups and downs of the training process shall we say!
Is Flash a house dog or kennelled up ?

phill walker he’s a kennelled dog. I think it’s important, especially with cockers to give them quiet time on there own so that they learn to look forward to seeing you and going training, especially since they are very selective and will make its own priorities and stick up them. Cockers are very good at finding a compromise that we never wanted.

Hey mate, How many more training sessions did it take to get him to stop on command from the last video you put up?

      Sam O Hello mate,
He had grasped the understanding of it when he was introduced in the video, we try to train 6 or 7 days a week and only once a day so 6 or 7 sessions. It’s not perfect yet but we have a good foundation to keep building on. We’ll revisit the stop whistle in a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply, 6-7 a week is pretty good. Obviously keeping each session short for such a young pup as you've said I your videos before. Thanks for the information mate, I appreciate the individual reply.
      Sam.
