- Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, George Harrison , Tom Petty, Roger McGuinn are on 1992 at Madison Square Garden NY.....practise and rehearsal before the show
每段歌詞都有精句:..老Bob寫得真係好嘢!!
..".Pounced with fire on flaming , Using ideas as my maps 烈火紅心,理念如圖"...."To memorizing politics..Of ancient history 論政觀歴使",,,"A self-ordained professor's tongue,Too serious to fool ‥自言說真,教授金言??"...."Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats,Too noble to neglect 嚴鎮對峙.. 皇權缺懷"..
"Deceived me into thinking,I had something to protect. 不為強權禁思奪想",...呀Bob的.一首十分到肉民運歌....
Bob deserves the nobel prize for such excellent lyrics....
Good call, sir
You are trippin aren't you.
2:36 That moment where Eric Clapton is gonna sing after his solo and Bob Dylan isn't really concentrating. Look how politely Eric Clapton walks behind Dylan to start singing. I love seeing legends like this.
+Martina del Mar
Genius at work.
We're privileged to be able to peek now and then.
It's so inspiring to see the love and respect that is usually (tho not always) shown among them.
smartalek180
Exacly. Well said ;)
Seems to me more like "Jeeze, I can't see the lyrics from back here."
Eric is very English! I now live near him, title backwater in an old house that was parted by his grandfather, father and himself back in time. His whole family is here. He never really left.
@@wendyknoxleet in hurtwood? This is the house where more music has sounded since 1967 ! Do you happen to meet him casualidad?...
EC really pulled together his solo after this rehearsal. You can hear seeds of it, but in the final version, it really soars. Nobody can play as lyrically as EC does.
Yes, it does soar. I love his restraint…
Disagree. You dont compare apples to oranges to grapes to whatever.
Evwryone played theur best here but if they play like clapton, THIS WOULD BE VERY BORING. all of them are the greatest and nobody compares to them
@@normatible9795 ... I gotta agree. .. At times perfection to the rule is not what's called for..
Clapton did hesitate, however, and was not a bull in a china shop; Breaking glass would have been "BORING". . Instead catch the mood, and the vibe, and meld with the ensemble.... Each artist was spot-on with their measure in composing this tribute for their friend Dylan. . E.G. Smith got this arrangement job just right. . Just think the dude Dylan was 19 when writing My Back Pages..
rip tommy petty....you are one of the soundtracks of my youth,we will all miss you
He's reading the lyrics!!! Just like every Dylan song I've ever sung, they just don't lie in your mind like pop music, they have depth...hard to remember.
Thanks for saying that. I thought the dementia was setting in ! 😅
This is an example of WHY we all do a sound check
1 august 1971...and 21 years later: Dylan, Harrison, Eric, Jim knelter...anybody else dobles...?
Professor Clapton. He’s got the look and talent. No haters please. Just my take on one of the many geniuses in this concert
혹시 공연과 연습 리허설에서 에릭클랩튼의 기타 솔로가 다른 이유가 뭘까요?
Love how Steve Cropper is adding all those inflections. Great Guitar playing
Steve Cropper, renowned as one of the world's greatest guitarists ever, can be seen on the right in the back.
+1 Steve Cropper is a studio session guitarist like few others. . The best of the best has few peers.
That SNL guitarist is GE Smith, I have seen him on 14th street in NYC, I think he lives down there.
The best Dylan show I ever saw was when he played with GE Smith's band.
How great would it have been to have these guys in your living room, drinking brews and smoking a little, just jamming and talking stories. God, can you imagine............
Wow this is the best version of "My back pages" even better than the one they did a the concert.
I wish it had good audio.
Vedder chilling on the couch in the back. Thanks for posting.
super ! voir autant de stars
claptons solo in rehearsal is even better than in the live concert
So many of these guys are gone already. RIP
Can't help noticing the "producer" side of GE Smith coming out. He's a natural!
Imagine what it must have been like being in a band with both GE Smith and T Bone Wolk. All of those ideas and no conflict as they were best friends.
Love all the cats here in the band, they all bring their own flavor/greatness.
bandleader/director for the evening was G E Smith. Great Job!!
what a line up
FANTASTIC..........Luji-TAMÁSI
The great Steve Cropper in the back!
Why isn't the concert version of this on youtube?
My favorite song from the whole concert
v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNjgzMTg3MDAw.html?from=s1.8-1-1.2
It is on Vevo. EC's solo is sweet, and everyone is smiling, the audience explodes clapping with each solo… So good it hurts…
Estuvo y lo quitaron..... era genial en HD
eric clapton looks like doctor house in this video
dylan is feeling awkward. he‘s a shy person and doesn’t like to stand in the limelight with rock superstars backing him. the same insecureness from dylan can be seen in the we are the world outtake where he sings his part and quincy jones hast to lift him up after each try to sing a decent solo part.
Man! Clapton is just magic on that Fender Stratocaster!!
ESTUBE BUSCANDO ESE VIDEO POR MUCHO TIEMPO! GRACIASSS =)
Im younger than that now!!
I wish someone would remix this to bring up the vocals.
I can't help but to laugh at thinking about them singing so close to each other and into the mike and if they worry about bad breathe.....but I love them and am enjoying the mix...but's funny....guess they all must gargle. LOL
Zimm is so baked that he can barely stand. It looks like Clapton actually startled him when he came in to sing after his solo.
newerafrican )
if you have both cd and dvd of this concert you will have to look further for any additional songs because not all songs have been released. "all along the watchtower" and "just for tom thumb's blues" for example were deleted from youtube concerning copyright. "if not for you" is not on the cd and "girl of the north country", on the other hand, is only on the cd. And really, all this depends on region or country. I have a bootleg dvd on which seem to appear 2 versions of this concert
Someone turn that Mic up
1992. Today's 100 camera phone has better hardware prob then cameras of thepast
It was Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary Concert at MSQ in 1992
Eric is a God!
I have this live version on mp3. Ill post it if some people show it any interest.
See , I don't know why people call Eric overrated . Those shit people should listen this
All the online guitar tutorials for this have a B major at the 7th after the A, but in this video and in the main performance McGuinn is clearly playing a B7 over an F# bass, as does Dylan. Has anyone ever seen a Byrds or Dylan recording where the B major is used?
G E Smith is a fantastic guitarist
He sure is. He's the man who actually powered all those great Hall & Oates 80s solos
How do you not mention Neil Young in your description? He's a god.
What a great tune .Still can,t find Neil Youngs astounding " All along the Watchtower performance that night on any format though.
From the 1992 concert. as asked. th-cam.com/video/hrs62vSaQw4/w-d-xo.html
clapton, young, mcguinn, dylan, duck dunn, steve the colonel cropper, petty, and it alomsot looks like the drummer from the band but i cant really see him to well
It exists on dvd, cd and bootleg dvd
astouding collection of talent onstage. Dylan must be thinking, why am i standing here letting McGuinn sing lead on MY song?
@unputer .. In 1967, The Birds (McGuinn) covered My Back Pages making the song their own - so to speak.
Yep! This year during the European tour..
Too bad the vocal quality is so bad, but a great video nonetheless.
the vocals are down, but it made clapton´s solo louder!!! dude, what A solo!!!
ge smith is such a nice man
Why oh Why does this clip cut before George Harrisson ? ?? ???
You can get the live concert version on Vimeo vimeo.com/23638459
What ever happend to that SNL guitarist? Cool behind the scenes look at some great folks!
Thank you !:o)
It looks like dear departed Donald "Duck" Dunn, renowned as one of the world's greatest bass players ever, is playing bass & seated behind Roger McGuinn at the start of the video. Later in the video you can also see Duck Dunn still seated & playing bass slightly to the left of & behind Bob Dylan. If you still can't see Duck Dunn in this video, you sure can hear his awesome bass line. RIP Duck Dunn!
+1 . Virtuoso Donald "Duck" Dunn & Steve Cropper arrived at Madison Square Garden in the same cab.
This is great, do bad the vocals are down in the mix, but sure is great seeing all these guys playing together.
@SolidShroom Rehearsal for BD's 30th anniversary concert.
plus, many have half a dozen verses or more. genius.
Can hardly hear the buggers. Bob has had a few lines by the looks of him.
They practiced? Then how come Dylan blew the chorus lyrics when he came on stage during the performance?
yea as a matter of fact sounds like steves lead style , mellow soul , of his very own creation !
Yep, it sure is. Wonder why he was left off the credits up top?
I love the way g e smith tries to play with the adults.
IETCHX69 Your mom must be so proud of you, her kid with special needs and low IQ...
He wouldn't be there if they didn't want him there. You call them the adults, so trust the adults decision to have GE there, even if you can't understand why.
G.E is the music director of the show lol
GE smith the legend
yes !
*My Back Pages*
Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges, soon," said I
Proud 'neath heated brow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.
Half-cracked prejudice leaped forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull, I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.
Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, thought, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.
A self-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
"Equality," I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.
In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My existence led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.
Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now.
Still can't get the meaning of why they sing they were older then x younger now x
Have just read ur long comment I get the explanation x
that's g.e. smith. he was the musical director of the gig and was the lead guitar for the saturday night live house band for years. i saw him play with dylan in a field in carlsbad california years ago...one of the better guitar players i've ever seen.
Who is this blond young man? Not Tom Patty, of course.
On the concert night, he is wearing a green suit. It seems as if he is conducting
G.E. Smith ex SNL bandleader among others
Great song. Nothing touches Roger's solo on this song, by anybody!
U mean Eric?
@@miked5106 ... Gotta flip a coin btw the two.
That call is a tough one. .. In the day, in 1967 The Birds (McGuinn) covered My Back Pages like it was their own. .. Fast forward to the year 2000 where McGuinn & Clapton both nail their parts with conviction. .. Flip a coin. "Great taste or less filling?"
I have worn out my VHS copy of this amazing concert. I don't understand why they have not released this on DVD or Bluray !?
Yeah definitely don't turn on the microphones of Roger McGuinn, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton.
I found the actual video of the concert performance of this song on Daily Motion. Why only rehearsals here?
Where did the verse that Neil Young sings come from?
some relatively famous people on stage...wow
you forgot to mention Neil Young in the description.
Don't get me wrong, I love the singing on this masterpiece, but it's awesome to hear the beautiful guitar work without the lyrics drowning them out.
Neil's the best :-D
Does Bob Dylan ever smile?
Yes, from time to time however never falsely.
very cool...but there are too much guitars...sound like overplay
roger kinda looks like one of the beach boys in this clip.....brian wilson
That's definitely Neil Young next to Petty. What the hell is this?
It was always part of the song Phantom, which version have you been listening to that doesn't include it? Merry Christmas.
Has anyone seen the uncut and unedited video of this song in concert?
I watch on dvd full concert
I like the back "stages" as well :-)
WHERE IS THE ACTUAL LIVE PERFORMANCE NOW??? CANT FIND IT AT ALL.
www.theguardian.com/music/video/2014/feb/12/bob-dylan-performs-my-back-pages-30th-anniversary-concert-video
Pardon my ignorance, but I am a younger man. Who is the blonde gentleman?
@Alexispn44 look it up on daily motion ;)
Beautiful, but where can I find the actual performance?
Vevo.com
Neil Young is show guitar solo
Right , it used to be on youtube , what's up w that?
I prefer the Byrds' version. Nothing like it. This is too smooth. Byrds is more distinct, more edgy, crisper jangles.
Who is the guy at the beggining , talking with Clapton ?
also G.E. Smith
where can i get a recording of the actual performance?
@MrKeefta you round the year....no need to work !! where u work for ?
omg
Where's George ?
@Alexispn44 i think is the issues of copyright...sad ..missing
Dylan doesn't smile much does he
最初に歌ったのわ誰だったかな~
Where's George? :(
Where`s the original one this version sucks, dont tell me they are still banning it from TH-cam after 21 years.
