You have no idea what kind of pleasure it is for a newly born Bob Dylan fan, to find his favourite song performed by those giants of rock, simply amazing!
I don't know how to find the right words for this. I am 64 and I grew up idolizing the Beatles, The Byrds, Bod Dylan, Clapton, Neil Young...you get the picture. I have lost people I have loved dearly in this life.
This caliber of writers and musicians on this stage you will never see again gathered together to bring you a once in a life time event. How nice to have witness this happen in person would surely be a gift from God. God bless them who are still with us,and God bless them who are not. Peace to all of you who love this music.
Absolutely! Jim Keltner is the Traveling WIlburys' drummer and many, many others. One of the most under-appreciated superb musicians ever, probably because Keltner just hangs in the background providing great rhythm support.
Jim is considered to be the unofficial 6th Traveling Wilbury. He has performed on a number of records with many famous artists and bands as a session drummer, since the early 1970s. and has toured with Pink Floyd and others. He has recorded with even more. He is the guy that influenced Jeff Porcaro as a young man, which in turn made him famous for his drumming. The man is a drumming legend and still going strong at 79.
There is no way on earth these guys will ever be replaced by the crap music we are having to put up with these days. Every one of them a total hero to music.
I was reading old book of apocrypha, the Wisdom of Solomon this morning before work. I think Mr Dylan must’ve been in it. Or something like it.. It basically has the refrain - as you get older, you’re really actually getting younger. Whacked ! Peace n love :)
Neil Young I mean everyone in this lineup, so freakin awesome. The emotion that Neil sings with is heart wrenching, almost brought tears to a 64 year old man's eyes.
Neil is a special kind of guy who can love ya if you are a true friend there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for ya if you had the same love for him and that’s who Neil is
Neil called the concert "Bobfest." I have the concert on DVD, and Neil's rendition of "All Along the Watchtower," is less a performance than a voodoo ritual trying to resurrect Jimi Hendrix; and comes damn close to it.
I'm 70 and miss the classic rock. I especially miss CSN, Pink Floyd, Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin and of course Harrison, Petty. RIP you two. ❤❤❤❤ love emmmm all.❤😂😢😅❤❤❤
Eric Clapton's solo is so laid back so elegant, so masterful. In this wonderful song and amazing cast of musicians it is this piece of brilliance that brings me back again and again.
Eric’s guitar playing and singing stick out like a sore thumb…it’s a California folk song . This song is so beautiful and everyone captures the spirit of Bob’s composition (in the Byrds song structure) except for Eric….
Even today, no matter what anybody say, this is the best and can’t get any better than this. Long live Bob, Neil, Eric and Roger. Did I leave anyone? RIP George and Tom!

Never ceases to amaze me how good it sounds and ALWAYS makes me feel better each and every time. Can't decide who sounds the best. They all sound perfect every time. They are the best of the best. Could listen to them all day and night. Best thing of all is they are ALL enjoying themselves. Kudos Gentlemen !!❤😊🎉❤😊
I want played for my Funeral. I get goose bumps and tears of joy listening to this. Time went so fast and here we are. Closer to death than life. Love it
Good one to go out on....
Closer to the real life, brothers and sisters.
Don’t forget Duane, brother.
May you knock on heavens door my freind
I lost them before I was born.....I'm 17 now.....feel like I'm in the wrong generation.
Sorry for your loss.
Nice comment. Thanks
My generation. The magnitude of talent will never be seen again. I was lucky to be young during that time.
Tom Petty and Neil Young sharing a microphone. Warms my heart so much.
✨🎸♥️🎸✨
Ol'Black and the distortion pedal should go to the Smithsonian Institute once Mr. Young passes.
Me too : )
This caliber of writers and musicians on this stage you will never see again gathered together to bring you a once in a life time event. How nice to have witness this happen in person would surely be a gift from God. God bless them who are still with us,and God bless them who are not. Peace to all of you who love this music.
Who is the guy in the green suit?
Thank you. I know I am a better man for having listened to Dylan's music.
I could not agree more.
Unbelievable to witness this.
Thanouren you Kevin. May peace follow you.
The guy in the green suit is G.E. Smith. He was the leader of the Saturday Night Live band a few years back
Jim Keltner has played with all the greats, yet he is rarely mentioned or given the credit he deserves.
Absolutely! Jim Keltner is the Traveling WIlburys' drummer and many, many others. One of the most under-appreciated superb musicians ever, probably because Keltner just hangs in the background providing great rhythm support.
He just makes do with the money.
Respect to Jim Keltner , first saw him with Ry Cooder, who keeps the band together 🥁👍
A traveling willburry also
There is no way on earth these guys will ever be replaced by the crap music we are having to put up with these days. Every one of them a total hero to music.
Very well spoken!☮️
Agreed!
I’ve watched this a hundred times and every time I get goose bumps. So much talent on one stage, amazing.
Beautiful music 🎶
I do too
I feel the same way!
Yes!! Me too❤
We all getting old.
But this song presented by the greatest on earth and heaven made me feel young again!
🙏♥️👊
You're younger than that now, Tom ;-)
I was reading old book of apocrypha, the Wisdom of Solomon this morning before work. I think Mr Dylan must’ve been in it. Or something like it.. It basically has the refrain - as you get older, you’re really actually getting younger. Whacked ! Peace n love :)
I'm 66 and that song is part of my soul.
Ton Kanselaar WHOHOOO!! Damn Skippy! Rock will never die...we will...but our music will live on!!! ❤️☮️❤️. Peace Out! 🤘🏻👍🏻
Neil Young I mean everyone in this lineup, so freakin awesome. The emotion that Neil sings with is heart wrenching, almost brought tears to a 64 year old man's eyes.
your younger then that now!
Neil is a special kind of guy who can love ya if you are a true friend there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for ya if you had the same love for him and that’s who Neil is
He sure is a special guy and, a brilliant guitarist.
I agree! Mr Youngs joy and presence is fantastic!
Neil called the concert "Bobfest." I have the concert on DVD, and Neil's rendition of "All Along the Watchtower," is less a performance than a voodoo ritual trying to resurrect Jimi Hendrix; and comes damn close to it.
Can’t stop listening to this wonderful embodiment of what REAL music sounds like…WTF WOULD WE HAVE DONE WITHOUT BOB DYLAN IN OUR LIVES…
this is priceless ,legends of rock Clapton a Beatle GH Dylan Neil Young Tom Petty you wont see this ever again
I'm 70 and miss the classic rock. I especially miss CSN, Pink Floyd, Who, Cream, Led Zeppelin and of course Harrison, Petty. RIP you two. ❤❤❤❤ love emmmm all.❤😂😢😅❤❤❤
Anyone listening/watching this in 2020?
And if not, why not?
Nope, 2021. Sorry ;-)
Oh yeah, still watching and loving.. Whatever the year is.
The best.
1/23/2021
seen this a dozen times and I'm weeping still :-( George and Tom RIP
Miss so many of them....miss my husband...we grew up to these song...best time of our lives...life goes fast so go enjoy!!
That smile on Neil Young’s face after that crazy solo says it all!
Yes he was an exuberantly happy man that day which is not how we think of him!
Yeah, he delivered and he knew it. It wouldn't surprise me if he was nervous the whole time.
@@evelynbaron2004 Yes he was! Check out his song "Comes a Time" farm aid 1986. He's the happiest I've ever seen him there!😊
He's joyous on that stage! Because of that, he stole the show for me!
Comes a time, i have that album on vinyl@@jaya.0069
The smile on Neils face
after his solo ,is pure joy!!!!!!!!
Eric Clapton's solo is so laid back so elegant, so masterful. In this wonderful song and amazing cast of musicians it is this piece of brilliance that brings me back again and again.
Meh - give me Neil’s solo any day.
Eric’s guitar playing and singing stick out like a sore thumb…it’s a California folk song . This song is so beautiful and everyone captures the spirit of Bob’s composition (in the Byrds song structure) except for Eric….
The gods of the late 1960's and 1970's it don't get any better than this folks for us who lived through it ❤👍👍👏👏👏
You will never see this kind of Talent together again. Many have left us and they just don't make much good music anymore.
I grew up on THIS music! My dad and my father, arguing about "is that music!
Even today, no matter what anybody say, this is the best and can’t get any better than this. Long live Bob, Neil, Eric and Roger. Did I leave anyone? RIP George and Tom!
George and Tom may not be here physically, but through their music they will live forever, as will the other greats from the years of our youth.
@@NVRick1 answering your comment now in November 2022...totally agree, how lucky to have grown old with the music from the sixties and on
All that talent on that stage, and backstage, come out for the bard of music,so good to see George Harrison and Tom Petty, both sadly missed. 🇬🇧🇺🇸✌️
And some of us also miss the bassist, Donald "Duck" Dunn.
The
😭😭😭
Who are the other musicians? Drummer, bassist...
I recognize G.E. Smith from (? snl?). but who are the others?
@@cherylcampbell9369 I don't know. I only remember the main names like George Harrison, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Roger Mcguinn, Eric Clapton. I remember watching it all those years ago but I'm sorry i can't help you with the bassists and drummers.
i feel sorry for the young of today never having heard fantastic music from an incredible lineup like this !
they here it but didnt grow up with it
ive used my daughters car and there is classic rock stations like Q1`07 on her Tuner
Huh? This generation can hear it anytime on demand right here.
@@VideoAmericanStylejust not the same as live and at the time of the release I guess
The group of musicians were so so together. It was so nice to see them all together. Unbelievable. Amazing loved each one of them. It was gracious of Bob to let George sing last. Very nice. Love the song and listen to it everyday. He is Iconic.love that guy so . Way to go Bob.Love ya.♥️
To me, nothing says 1960s more than this song and this performance by this group of performers. It will always be at the top of my list. What a wonderful decade to have lived through.
The best decade in music ever🎤🎹🎺🎻👌♥️
Absolutely 😃
My favourite decade, the 60’s, and I spent it in London
With ya! Incredible music decade!
Ji
I am very please to be a part of that movement and to have hung out and performed with many of them. I'm going to be 73 on June 22nd. I am now so much older, I'm younger than that now.
100 200 oder wie oft habe ich es gehört. Mit einem weinenden und einen lachenden Auge. Was wäre ich gerne dabei gewesen. Nie wieder gab es so was. Viele sind schon gegangen. Ihre Musik bleibt. Ich schlucke muss aufhören zu schreiben. Tränen laufen mir von den Wangen. Ist das gut. Danke 🇩🇪❗
I was so much older before hearing this song, but I'm younger than that now!
George's voice soars! 🤗
Agree, but I think they all sang brilliantly. I just love this song and the line up was just breathtaking
This is real music, this is real art. A simply exceptional performance.
Neil and Eric unbelievable guitarists sweet for days
Neil Young makes that guitar growl like a monster, love to watch him play.Lost Tom and George but the spirits live on..
I’m 71 and I love everyone of these artists for their work they have given us so many amazingsongs like this one will they will never be forgotten or repeated RIP Mr petty, Mr. Harrison you other artist rock on boys 🎶🎶🎼🎼🎼🎵🎵🙏🙏
I’m 13 and my favorite musicians are up on THIS STAGE. 💜💜💜George and Tom and Bob💜💜💜
And Neil!!!!! 🙏
Your a lucky young man. Your parents have done you well.
Icons 🙏
Don't forget Roger!
you have great taste in music for such a young person! do you sing or play an instrument?
Unfortunately we'll never see the amazing likes of these amazing musicians again
Truly “my generation “ George was so underrated and we are smaller without him John, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker Tom and all the wonderful wonderful musicians 😢😢😢😢 this video should be shown to all these terrible contrived so called talent shows
If only one song was chosen to represent and define the past century, this would suffice. The greatest artists to ever grace a stage!
Missing the boss
One can see in this vid the embodiment of George's classic saying: "I never wanted to be famous, I wanted to be successful". RIP Tom and George, grateful I had the chance to see Tom live in 1987.
I agree with you 💯the best of the best. Still Miss George and Tom but glad to have seen Bob and Tom back in the days when life was so much better ☮️
Neil's solo is pure magic !
How is that a pure magic? It is only a one string solo and sounds awful af.
@Coogan I know. That's what I meant to say.
you accidentally defined in the most perfect way the sheer beauty of that solo.
bruh ahahahah.
Neil Young is one of the probably top 10 guitarist of all time.
If you think that solo is easy just try, I do play guitar and I can assure you the "easy" one is the Clapton one with some practice. @@goftheday489
Neil is that Crazy Uncle that shows up at every gathering ... Bless him.
Harrison hated it.
A
I like his solo!
I like it too...make your own mind
As a kid of the 60's I grew up listening to their music. It seemed like every week a new song was coming out. 60's and 70's... what a great time.
They're having a great time. All my childhood music right there...mostly influenced by my late big bro. Dylan first, then The Lads, The Byrds, etc. Makes me cry watching it. Every time.
Maybe it's a guy thing...... but all those guitars on stage at one time, being played by legends, is just so iconic. This video will live on into eternity.
No, it's not just a guy thing. This rocker chick agrees entirely
Not a guy thing at all. Where is Joan Jett to prove it?
Not a guy thing! I watched this at least 100 times over the years!
Bob Dylan George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Tom Petty, Roger Mcguinn, Guitarist G.E. Smith ,Steve Cropper etc, in one stage Geez great legends
let's not forget Donald Duck Dunn
And the brilliant Jim Keltner
@@martakarnicki371 I knew it! I thought that was Jim Keltner! Thanks for validating that. Unsung hero.
That makes 4 Wilburys :)
I'm such a big fan of all these great musicians. To see them all on the same stage performing a great song is truly amazing. Thank you and RIP George you're so missed.
I agree, and Tom Petty is missed as well
What a great song, when the last two singers came on Bob and George I felt like I went to Heaven
Neil Young, electrifying on guitar.
Some might be disappointed to find out that Harrison was not a fan of Young's guitar playing and particularly not here as he mentions in the following video....
th-cam.com/video/xYUglwhHpuw/w-d-xo.html
@@Fordham1969 Wow, great clip to backup your comment. Interesting to hear Harrison basically shitting all over Neil Young’s guitar playing (specifically this performance). “...it’s good for a laugh...” 😂
WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN
Crimson flames tied through my ears
Rollin’ high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on flaming roads
Using ideas as my maps
“We’ll meet on edges, soon,” said I
Proud ’neath heated brow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now
Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth
“Rip down all hate,” I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now
Girls’ faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now
A self-ordained professor’s tongue
Too serious to fool
Spouted out that liberty
Is just equality in school
“Equality,” I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now
In a soldier’s stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrel dogs who teach
Fearing not that I’d become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My pathway led by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now
Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now.
Here gathered are some of the greatest song writers and musicians ever......
A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.
- Bob Dylan
Eric sneaked out
Ok, Dylan. Thanks for let me playing video games all day and not feeling guilty about it. lol
There's wisdom in that for all of us. And if in that time he could earn a fair Euro, he may one day be better off. The latter secondary though, as governments and central banks are about to destroy money. Enjoy life
One of Dylan's best songs...what a cast of performers to be on stage doing it together! Great to see George Harrison singing the last verse,,,so sad that he is no longer with us.
TP gone too soon also. :-(
Tom petty also has moved on
agreed!! possibly THE best to me..!
I don't know I came upon this but I'm sure glad I did! Wow! Just Wow!!
Basically, George sang the final verse because he was the only person in the room bigger than Dylan.
I was born in 2000, so sad that I missed the time of these great musicians.
Grab a guitar, find some good musicians and play.... You can make it!
Their message is still the same especially true for Bob.
Song
At least you can take advantage of these videos on UTube and can appreciate
You have a good eàr
So much fun watching G.E. Smith direct traffic! Clapton solo is iconic. Had NO IDEA Neil Young could play like that!
I want a Rickenbacker like Roger's!
Young, it's been said, is in the top 5, greatest guitar players.
Neil looked like he was really enjoying himself. Guitar solo was a SURPRISE.
@sherryherrick6567 so where is Jeff beck at ? HMMMM?
I'm old now but I thank the universe that I lived through these great years.
This gives me goosebumps. Magic from start to finish, a fantastic song performed by all-time greats. I'm not a person who usually says 'oh man they don't make 'em like that any more...' but they truly don't....

Now they they don’t need musicians.
I'm 67. I have played guitar since I was 10 years old in bands, because of these men and their bands. Started with the Beatles and on from there. A lifetime of love of music because I got to grow up in a time where talent like this was around. I still play in clubs and can tell you, even the 20 and 30 year olds still appreciate great music from earlier times. Yes, I have listened to this video 100 times I am sure. Chills, tears and a smile everytime.
What a line-up. The heavens smiled on this group of greats.
My all time favorite George Harrison. I love this man!!!

George Harrison brings it home. Beautiful!
Tom and George, RIP in rock heaven.

It's truly amazing and speaks volumes to the quality of their music that these guys have been singing the same music for over 50 years and getting standing ovations from all age groups. The music that came from this era of creativity is unsurpassed as witnessed by this video and many other videos by the other great musicians from this era,
