It's so odd because it's obvious at least to me that the interviewer was worried about her. She had such alarm bells about her mum and being teased and yet she was so lovely and smily and I think that was what meant she could get past everything that happened to her and the whole child star thing because she was never bitter, she always smiled and had intelligent things to say and that meant people were willing to support her and her career even after her problems in the first three decades of her life.
In her johnny interview at 7 she made a reference about her mom would kill her, if she bother shoes dirty, then nealrybsaid it again later and stopped herself. She also said, Mum a always on the phone doing business, doesn't say goodnight tonher or anything because she is busy

She was heavily teased and made fun of at school. She had to put a smile on for the public, that's alot of pressure. She was in pain and had to hide it. She is certainly the blueprint of how every actor in Hollywood should conduct themselves. Like every day, doing what she does, and doing what they do is a gift and not to take any second for granted. Because they get to do what they love to do for a living. These actors who conduct themselves as untouchable… Above everybody else, outside of the industry and many inside the industry… Should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Without the love, respect and help from those around us… Money means nothing. because if you have nobody to share it with, What are you actually accomplishing? A life alone with a bunch of money, fleeting fame that can be gone at the snap of a finger and a bunch of material possessions that don’t fill the holes in your heart… the relationships we build, the memories we make… mean more than any amount of money or fame. because that love, respect and care, we give to those around us goes on to last your lifetime, their lifetime, and the lifetime of those that they touch by passing on your positive traits.
Live life every day like it’s your last love like it’s your very first… let loved ones in your life know how much you care every day. as we never know which day will be our last, and you want them to know just how much you care, so that when you leave this earth, they feel the comfort of your compassion for the rest of their lives. Making it, not a sad day, but one of remembrance of all of the good times you shared. something hopefully they pass on to those they know. Our legacy should be that of love, happiness, and forgiveness. Because without it, what’s left to remember?

I remember David Brenner was the first comedian I ever saw on HBO. Drew was so mature for her age. She got to meet so many famous people after ET like the President. I think this was after her appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson at age 7 so this would not be her debut. "Irreconcilable Differences" was two years after "ET".
Yes, this would have been her second appearance.
