After putting 50 hours on this machine in the last ten days I’ve found over 25 pieces of jewelry & a jar of coins on the beach in NJ. Beach 2 is the better performer I believe. I use sensitivity from 12-20 in wet sand & a steady 20-22 in dry. Do not discriminate iron on the beach! You will miss some gold like I did in the beginning! Also dig all your coin signals! Can’t stress that enough! Make sure to noise cancel/ground balance occasionally & keep ground balance tracking on. Also learn your tones in all tones! The VDI is not very accurate unless it’s a screamer on top! I was also told by a distributor with an inside source that both 8khz beach modes are smf like the vanquish. They didn’t want to make that public to lose sales on the vanquish models! Good luck & great video man. You got my sub!
Awesome info thank you my friend. I think most of us in the testing business suspected that there is some secret sauce going on wit this machine on the beach.

@@MentalMetal Hello there. I just bought this detector and yours is definitely the best settings video I've found. Just subscribed and thanks for the info.
Does anyone know what tone and number gold will come up as? I assume different karats will have different tones, but I haven't found any gold, mostly sterling silver and fake jewelry. I'm still new and if anyone can help it I would appreciate it thanks
Great video a friend who is new to Detecting ask me what to buy. I suggested this machine, the Xterra he came down to meet me at a local beach where I had found two rings already previously. So I had to leave he stayed in, proceeded to find a 14 karat wedding band. I went back the next day and I found a 1965 gold class ring with my Manticore, I was surprised how stable the Xterra is.
I subscribed because of this video! I just recently got an Xterra pro, and there were a lot of youtube instructions on VDI #s, but not a lot about the menu system. Thank you!
I think you did a great job, I have 2 other detectorists to train tomorrow out in the field. I think this is a good refresher or even help a beginner. I’ve only turned my new machine on yesterday after I charged it. I plan on taking the two others under my wing and teach them everything there is to know as a beginner. Thank you for this video and hope to see more. I’m a new subscriber to the channel. Hope you all had a great holiday and I hope you have many more.
Great video, I just picked up an Xterra Pro to replace my old Delta 4000 that has been acting up lately. I'm excited to have access to changing frequency, noise cancellation, all tone, and manual ground balance.
I just purchased the xterra pro and it's my first MD. I'm a complete newbie, so I was wondering what the AU stands for that comes up first thing on the menu. thanks in advance
Well done sir! Can you see any advantages of this detector over the Manticore except for cost? I finally received mine, so far I like the way it sets up and operates. Thanks for putting this video up.
The Minelab X-Terra Pro is very similar in air test depth as the Nokta Simplex, I'm sure the detection circuit is the same with the higher priced Equinox and Manticore models, if we had the hidden service code menu for technicians, like televisions we could tweak up the sensitivity perimeters to 35 like the Manticore. Don't expect MinLab to offer a firmware update with a higher sensitivity as that would kill the sales of their Equinox and Manticore. I would never spend more than $300 for metal detector, it's only a little circuit board inside the box, give me a break :-). This machine is awesome, why pay more!
I’d like your advice. If I was using this for mainly detecting gold in creek beds and on banks and under water in small creeks where I know gold is, what type of id number or indicator value would I potentially see consistently??? Just bought this today and have plans to learn it inside and out for all hunting, but am curious if there is a way to help one find mainly gold or a gold setting or preset. Thanks in advance.
I wish I knew, I have no experience searching for gold under those conditions so I would be speculating. If you have some gold from prospecting you might want to try putting it on the floor and running the detector over it to get a general idea.
Very nice video. Thank you. I'm looking to purchase a detector and have been looking at this one and the Simplex BT. I'm new to this hobby but have wanted to try it for a long time. My question is this: Will the Minelab also pick up gold as well as coins and jewellery? Thank you for your video again Don C.
Yes it will, if need some help deciding reach out to my friends at Fort Bedford Metal Detectors, their info is in the description. They won't pressure you to buy but they will help you decide. They carry both.
Hi have the X Terra pro and enjoying your video's in the UK. is there a carrying bag where it fits without dismantleing the machine. I have bought 1 bag and even a fishing bag to try to get my pro in without the dismantle.
I picked up this metal detector before even seeing this video. Watching this video only makes me more confident in my decision. First time using a metal detector, and I really appreciate all the information y'all have shared with me. Thanks
Hi, does the generell mode in park 1 include all findings? I mean everything. Gold, silver, iron etc? Kind a strange if i have to choose which one of gold or silver i wanna search for…
Its a personal preference really. Makes a difference for people who have hearing problems or for those that are using it underwater. It will draw more on the battery.
Good video. I search in the Netherlands and i keep Ground balance on track. Cos for sure in mine Area i know that the soil and Minerals are tricky and jumping up and down in a couple meters. For the rest i like this depth monster coins Ring or militaire stuff it finds almost every thing also very small parts and necklace like most detectors don t accept

In the advanced setting if you are in all tones you can set a floor of what you want to hear. Say you only want to hear high tones, set it to say 80. You may have touched on that but since you were in 5 tones it wasn't clear to me. I tried it in a trashy area but wasn't liking it. Might try it again once I understand the sounds better.
Just lower sensitivity down and then when it's jumpy VDI then it's going to be Not a Coin Numbers Target And I have the X-Terra Pro and I started with 12 Sensitivity and it's still able to get Targets that are in the 6-8 inches deep range and I have since raised it up to 18 and I can really tell when it's not a good target and I see no reason to be anything higher than 20 but it's also Site Dependent on how much Sensitivity I'm going to be able to do but I have eliminated 2 Junk Carry Bags from my Belt now that I'm using the X-Terra Pro instead of Notka Macro Product's Simplex + and the I have to dig up everything that is making a Duck Tone's Squawk......
I'll be purchasing one from Walmart, same price as mentioned in video, but I'm a beginner and I'll be mostly on the beach since I live in a coastal town here in Puerto Rico like a10 min walk to the beach. But I would really like some suggestions.
There's no local dealer on the island, I bought one once at RadioShack but a long way back time ago, and Walmart here doesn't actually have it in stock it's shipped from a dealership from out in the states, no metal detector for sale here, there kinda middle man
Ahh I didn't think of that, man that's a bummer. Its a pretty easy machine to use. There isn't much to it. If you turn up the sensitivity too high it might become a little unstable but make sure you ground balance especially on the wet sand. That's really it.
