The best 911 period. The 991.1 GTS has it all. No engine issues like the GT3 of same era. No turbos. The sweet sound of NA. Collectible car you can drive. Life is short. Enjoy it.
I drive the 2015 GTS 991.1 w/ the manual. I drive it joyfully (not a garage queen) and agree with this review. There are cars that are faster and more track-fit, but none within my reach that are more subjectively wonderful for the driven road. Superlative.
I have a 991.1 4S Cabriolet. But it has the more powerful GTS engine (Powerkit X51 option). It’s such a great sounding engine, with a perfect chassis/power combination. The variable tuned induction ports the GTS engine has sound better than just about anything around. And it’s comfortable on all road surfaces. Such a confidence inspiring car to drive, I smile ear to ear every time I drive it.
I’ve had 992 GTS TURBO S and GT3s and I had 3 different 991.1 GTS. Best sounding carerra ever made and overall best 911 for everyday use. Sounds great still drive like new cars and a time where Porsche were peak. Sadly they are now all numb and all have the same issue TurboS always had. Unless you get a GT3 but they are not really drivable like a 991.1 GTS. Great review and agreed
To my ears the GTS sounds better than the GT3. Forgive me GT3 fans. As it’s been said before the former sounds more soulful and the latter more frenetic.
GTS's is meant to be driven but sadly its falling into an investment car. Price of a 997 GTS is similar to a 991 turbo, make that make sense. 911's are like Pokemon cards for golfers.
love your your review on this soon to be classic 911. I’m torn between this one and 997.2 GTS there’s something about 997’s I think its because it's slightly smaller in width which makes it great for our british country roads and of course the hydroaulic steering which gives way more road feel. The 991.1 though is more modern and has a better cabin, argh! which one shall I buy, I need help lol!!
Another benefit you didn't mention is that the GTS has the wide body and wider rear tires compared to Carrera S, along with the aerokit front bumper and side mirrors
991.1 GTS and 981 Cayman GTS (with PTV-SC-PSE) - two of the best Porsche sports cars out there. Its not about HP its about corner speed and character. The 992 series don't do it for me.
I cannot disagree with any part of your review apart from a personal preference to 'With rear axle steer' makes the car feel the bit more nimble on country B roads and a more exciting drive. If you're an A road or motorway king makes no difference.
I would agree if the auto box wasn’t the best. But the PDK is a very nice automatic transmission. So I can see why people would opt for that. But yes this car would be awesome with the manual transmission
@@deecoopsau No way, I have a manual and have heard how special the PDK was so I drove my buddy's GTS and was VERY unimpressed. When slowing down in 5 mph hr traffic the car was still 5th gear and clunked along - terrible for regular driving. No, thank you. At at higher speeds, my manual is much more exhilarating to drive. Sorry.
@@j.d.4681that sounds more like his gearbox isn’t working right as I have one and it’s doesn’t do that at all. It’s the best auto box you can buy. I have driven both and did daily use it’s a no brainer
Really nice, indeed, but I watched a lot of reviews and even test drove and a Boxster Spyder is the most of sportcar and Porsche you can get for your money. Believe me or not or test drive by your own :). Thank me later. And they are half the price or even less than a 911 GTS
The best porsche to by is the boxster/cayman. I have a 981 S, mid engined, smaller like the older 911 and more fun to drive. Of course, it has a flat 6 and bullet proof engine, the sound is better than the 991.1 and the exhaust and engine isnt in the back, rather right behind your seat.
These are still overpriced for me. Over 75 k for a low mileage one. I personally would rather spend 75k on a 2 year old low miles 4.0 gts boxster. more fun and looks better.😮

Better than a gen 2 GT3? Personally can’t agree there.
991.2 GT3 Touring would have my vote
@@jamieorton6809 Couldn't agree more (I own a 991.1 GTS and have driven the 991.2 GT3). Love my GTS but the GT3 is a different beast.
I’ve had mine since 2015. The NA engine is amazing and the reason I’ve still got it. Enjoyed the review 👌
Hi Ian, thank you for your comment! Glad you enjoyed the review and it speaks volumes if you’ve still got it since 2015! Great cars
Nice colour. You can’t go wrong with any 991.1
Spot on review, I bought one and everything you said is bang on. Anyone thinking of buying one don’t hold back you won’t be disappointed 👍
Thanks for your comment! Really enjoyed my time behind the wheel

Nice! Cabriolet sounds such a nice option with the GTS engine! Perfect sports car for sure
Got exactly the same car but an akrapovic exhaust. It just sounds insane 😂

Hey Bro when we play Forza again?
What issues did you have with the Turbo S? GTS good for a daily commute?
i can't disagree i bought one > nce to finally see the love for this model.
One of the great 911's.
The sound is always my favourite thing about a Porsche
Totally, oh that sound 😊. And also, the beauty of simplicity, it is an absolutely stunning car, yet, the lines of a Porsche 911 are so simple.
Totally agree, flat 6 sound is amazing
To my ears the GTS sounds better than the GT3. Forgive me GT3 fans. As it’s been said before the former sounds more soulful and the latter more frenetic.
You are doing a good job and keep doing what you do 👍
Thank you I really appreciate it and definitely more to come as usual 🙌
Excellent car, great engine and sound.
excellent option, I went with a 997.1 6 speed C4S wanted something a bit more analog and it something quite special to drive
Amazing car, amazing owner, amazing review.
You flirt
I waited for a car like this: 911, NA flat 6. By the time I looked, my budget increased, so I got a 991.2 gt3. But this gen gts is the sweet spot
Totally right!
Great video and I'm sure I recognise some of those amazing Welsh roads. 👍🏻
Thanks! Yes beautiful Welsh roads
Values on 991.1 are going up. This is going to be the "collector" car for Porsche.

I can assure you this one gets driven!!! 👍🏻
997 GTS was the first so I can understand that. But the 991 deserves to be driven
This car looks and sounds great🔥 I bet it sounds better in person, definitely will have to look out for one of these in the market💯
100%, epic cars
991.1 GTS is the best 911, no question about it. Porsche will not top this series.
991.1 is great, I do like the 991.2 as well 👌
Great review as usual best around
Wow! Thank you! 🙌
You just earned a subscriber, nice work
Thanks Riccardo, appreciate it 🙌
Had 991.1 C2S so I can relate. May have to go and find one of these.
Great Review, well done!

Thank you! Personally, I’d take the 997 GTS as it’s the first generation to have a GTS model. I think it would probably hold its value better
My dad just picked me up in one of these, I thought it was rented. What a treat 😂
I had one of the these in black, was fantastic but not quite as good as my previous 997 Turbo. Great review.
Nice! Turbo’s are great
Peak usable 911. Best 911 daily. Ever.
991.1 GTS torque is 440Nm, 991.2 GTS torque is 550Nm
And at lower RPMs. Love this car, but second gear needs more torque! First is too short and clunky on your favorite back road.
The 4 GTS is what I want😊
Quality. Top Quality.
Thank you!

Don't think you can go wrong with the last of anything Porsche makes (NA).
100%
You didn't mention that the GTS is a widebody Carrera 👍🏼 They are awesome cars and with an aftermarket exhaust they sound nuts! 😀
You’re completely right, i remembered this after the video! Thanks for pointing out and thank you for your comment 😁
Yes, the wide body of the GTS (and the 4 and 4S) looks so much better than the narrow body. Even has a wider track and wider tyres.
Also they have an lsd
Another benefit you didn't mention is that the GTS has the wide body and wider rear tires compared to Carrera S, along with the aerokit front bumper and side mirrors

If I could justify a 991 it would easily be my choice, personally not a fan of the 992 rear lights. I'm also a sucker for a 997.
Man I had my eyes set on a 997.2 Turbo or 991.1 Turbo S. A new model to consider!? Haha
991.1 is killed by taxes. 991.2 is the contemporary sweet spot.
Totally agree - so this or the M4 CS then? 😉
Ooooo hard choice!! Gotta love a Porsche and would be a really good step up from the cs
You can buy the M4 but I assure you, in 2-3 years, maybe even before... You will be back to this question.
Completely different car and dynamics.
Someone driving an M4 wouldn’t say which way the Porsche went on some good twisty roads.

Agate Grey

Anthracite, rare colour same as mine👍🏻

The best 911 to buy, is the basic 911.
There is no wrong 911 to buy
