Wow, you've really showcased this hike. The shots, the transitions, the editing, the humour 👌. Most people don't know much effort goes into creating videos - camera set ups, walk out and back, camera retrievals, keeping everything charged etc, then watching all your footage, scouring through the best parts and then the editing begins (which in my case, seems to take longer than the actual hike). Thankyou for putting so much time into this. It's a must watch for anyone wanting to do Routeburn.
Unfortunately due to flyingkiwi not booking/arranging this hike timely enough, I didn't get to do it on my trip through NZ (did part of the Tongariro, the other vid, though, basically your day 1, as a daytrip). Great video, gives a good image of what I missed :/
I normally don't bother commenting, but this was ace! You're other videos have been perfect for getting back into the hills and I'll be following along to steal travel ideas 💡
I remember stopping at the divide while driving to Milford for kayaking….was so car-sick I made the tour bus stop so I could get out and be sick! Only part of the Routeburn I have done so far. But seriously, on my list for next trip to NZ!
Haha what a memory to have! We stopped at the Divide on the way home from the Milford and it felt strange to be there again, some kind of Matrix alternate universe feeling 😂
I loved this video Hayley! Thank you for creating it :) I was wondering if you had any suggestions for companies to use for a shuttle transfer from Queenstown? Any general tips would be great if you have time :)
Haha thank you, I think i've finally found my style for the hiking videos. I'm so happy I bought my Canon camera though, comparing it to some of my old footage, makes the old videos pretty cringy for me 😂
Stunning scenery, beautifully portrayed in a well filmed and produced movie. Thank you so much - we've done some great hiking in NZ but the Routeburn remains to be attacked! You really nailed the weather. Big thanks from Sydney - Dave and family
Absolutely stunning scenery. Got the Routeburn on my list as well and your video makes me want to hike it even sooner. Fantastic editing and really informative too.
Thank you! I was just thinking the other day now that i've done the Milford Track, if I had to do one of them again, part of me wants to say Routeburn!
@settohike Going in April I was worried, but we got lucky. With forecast in hand, we changed to the early bus to get to Falls hut before the weather arrived. Enjoyed watching the instant waterfalls from the verandah. Cleared day 2 so we climbed Conical Hill and got the views in between waves of cloud. Picture perfect blue sky on day 3. Snowed the week before so the peaks were nicely dusted. Finished at Freg. Hiking team loved it so much we are now planning 'Tongariro 2025' (link to your video forearded for inspiratio) and 'Kepler 2026'.
I can remember the first time I came to New Zealand a few years ago, we were driving in the car with friends on the North Island and we were so amazed at the mountains. We hadnt even got to the South Island yet. I think we all imploded when we saw the mountains out the window for the first time :P
@@settohike Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to go to NZ later this year as my first international trip since COVID, so am looking forward to that. Did you have to book many weeks in advance for the campsites and huts on this track and the Tongoriro Circuit?
Yep looks fake .... how good is New Zealand?!?! Thanks for another great video, your style is changing making it more engaging and fun. Love it keep up the great work.
I had a cnoc bladder that I would fill with water that connects to my sawyer squeeze and filters into a 1L plastic water bottle. On shorter trips though I usually just bring along water purification tablets like Aquatabs. :)
Love your vids. While watching I noticed that you are using hiking poles incorrectly. Your hand should go UP through the wrist straps and you should be grasping strap and poles together or at least that's what I have been taught. Thought being, if you trip and go to grab say tree or branch, the pole will fall out of your hand leaving it empty to grab things or catch yourself. The way your doing it , if you open your hand the pole obstructs your palm thus making it hard to grab at things. Give it a try and you see what I mean. Keep hiking and making vids. Happy Trails from the USA 🇺🇸
Beautiful footage - you were blessed with perfect weather. It still astounds us that NZ requires/people still wear useless obedience masks…will the populace ever recover from the massive psychological abuse?
Another first class production. The glorious NZ landscape doesn't hurt either. ❤
Thank you! Haha I will admit that NZ landscape helps a tad 😋

What a great video. What was the song at 11:45?
It was a great film to make memory of Routburn Track. Thank your video.
Absolutely beautiful. You've captured everything amazingly!
Thank you! The track did most of the work looking pretty! :)
Absolutely amazing scenery and 10/10 for footage and editing.
Love following your adventures 👍
Wow!!! Absolutely spectacular scenery. Truly enjoying your NZ trails. Thank you. Stay safe 🙏
Nice video thanks
Loved it. Good camera work, story, music and information.
You two are so cute together, love Dougie. Next route on my list now. Thanks for your good work, both of you.
Great video you have inspired me to go here
Absolutely brilliant scenery my friend. What a unique scenery, this is done so beautifully! Literally breathtaking trail! 🥾🥾

You had me wishing I was there too Hayley
Absolutely stunning!! Looks like you had an amazing time!! Makes me want to grab my boots and catch a flight asap!!
Just found your channel! I loved watching your video - epic place! I'm proud to be a Kiwi, but yet to hike this track :)
Thanks for finding the channel! 😀 You definitely must get to hiking the Routeburn soon! :)
OMG your video skills are soooo incredible! I'm a beginning hiking vlogger and i draw so much inspiration from you!
Absolutely beautiful!! Cheers from the UK!
Thank you! Waving back at you from over here! 😀
Wow!! What a beautiful Vlog. Very cinematic and engaging too. Thank you for making and sharing. 🙏 I really enjoyed watching this.

Thank you! I appreciate it! Haha yes I think that hike was the height of my weather luck. You must tick it off your list when you get a chance :)
Awesome stuff as always Hayley!
Thank you! You're the best! 😄

Fantastic editing as always Hayley. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed it 👍
Fabulous
Thank you for watching ☺️
Awesome video!
What camera / editing equipment etc do you use/ recommend?
Great adventure video, i love it 👍🏽
Hang on - Did Dougie get a takeaway Fergburger coffee? Just got back from the Routeburn. Awesome trip. Nice to re-live it via your video.
hahah well spotted! He almost missed the bus because of it 😂 Did you get some sunny days on the Routeburn like we did?

The scenery in NZ is just otherworldly compared to Alpine Victoria. I can see why the track is considered a Great Walk!

That would be this: th-cam.com/video/Y51IG652OYg/w-d-xo.html and also episode 3: th-cam.com/video/Png23iV0mns/w-d-xo.html :)
Nice zippy video. A pleasure to watch. Well done
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks so much! 🙂
Hi guys, just wondering what month you did this hike. Thank you.
This was during February. We were very lucky with the blue skies! :)
Awesome. I'm planning of doing it in April, and wondering what the weather will be like then 😊
Ugh that does it I’m moving to NZ.
Haha it's a tough debate, they don't have dim sims at the fish and chip shops 😛

Bro, you made a bird friend!
It's like the Flame Robins in Australia told their cousins I was coming over and to look out for me on the track :P
@@settohike the fucken gees. They were like yo you should hang out with SetToHike.
@@his1916 go eat bugs and drink water off her tent, bounce around and look cute.

First scene mask wearing. I'm out of here.
haha this was filmed at the time when wearing masks was still compulsory in public, otherwise we wouldn't have been allowed on the bus 😂
