I feel blessed to have both Forgotten Weapons and C&Rsenal among other channels like InRange TV, britishmuzzleloaders, Bloke On The Range, Capandball, etc. all at the same time. What a great time to be a lover of guns and viewer of Internet videos. Looking forward to what you guys have cooking up, both in collaboration and individually. You guys are the best!
Let's just hope TH-cam chills with their assault on these channels, or we are going to end up seeing all gun material banned on here. I would bet that is the eventual plan of Google/TH-cam
I doubt that. The more varied TH-cam's content, the more people will visit the site. The more people visit the site, the more advertisers want to buy time for ads. If Google would ban all gun content, they'd stand to lose a *lot* of viewership and, thus, ad revenue. Google doesn't like losing money.
Plus, the demonetization issues have been happening to just about everyone, not just gun-oriented channels. Everyone's out looking for some big conspiracy when the truth is probably pretty boring.

It's so awesome that you two are collaborating; I started with Ian's "Forgotten Weapons", then came across the "Small Arms Primer" on Othias' channel (in hindsight, youtube probably suggested it to me because I was watching "Forgotten Weapons") and thought just how similar your channels were. Not copies, but similar in the way I like (sort of a combination of history and engineering); and I wondered if you guys knew each other. Apparently you do! Please do more stuff together!
This was actually an extremely interesting video on its own. Love both your channels and completely agree that they are complimentary. I've been following Ian's channel for years and was introduced to C&R from a Q&A video Ian did. Ian's channel is great as an introduction to a breadth of unusual firearms. Othais gives an in depth look at a specific set of firearms. I'll often find something interesting on Forgotten Weapons I didn't know about and head over to C&R to learn more about it. Great work guys.

You and forgotten weapons are my favorite firearms history channels. I don't think it's possible to get all the history straight. We will never know what happened unless we see it with your own two eyes.
I really like othias and Mae, but they’d get wrecked. Ian and Karl have more 2 gun matches under their belts than most people have trips to the range. This is how it would go Karl
Easy just handicap it, Karl gets the ross (or 1897 w/paper shells) and webley, Ian gets a berthier and a 1903 pocket, Othias a 98 and styer, and Mae gets the mp18 and luger.
I was never interested in firearms before watching Bloke on the Range, Forgotten weapons and C&Rsenal I arrived here through Lindybeige (a mad scientist historian Brit). I am glad that i discovered a path to a deeper understanding of the personal firearm. You all bring to life the technical and the anecdotal in succinct and coherent formats that for me, you are informative and entertaining. I especially appreciate that all of you are academically humble and stand ready to be corrected. Thank you all for honest you tube content that has integrity.

Cool to see the cablegram. I wondered how a pilot would ever use the Air Service Rifle (or any other rifle) while trying to fly an "avion" in conbat. From the cable, it seems that observers, not pilot. were supposed to use these--either when their guns jammed or ran out of ammo, or when the bad guy was making life hard by flying outside of the gun arcs of the observer's flexible gun mount. Note also that the cable is a translation of a memo--probably from an original French report. Finally, it's great to see the interaction here, and historical research marching onward.

What many cube rats fail to grasp is the huge amount of WORK (a particularly nasty four letter word to some) that it takes to do these things. As a big history buff, I love seeing these moments where the historical process comes alive. A lot of people don’t realize how exhausting and demanding a very high quality of research is and I have a very high regard for C&Rsenal’s and forgotten weapons’ work ethic. Deep research is always going to bring these discrepancies to light and when it happens it’s exciting because you are improving knowledge for everyone else! Love the show and keep on chugging!

People so often over-look the amazing possibilities for academic communication and research and consensus and it's honestly so amazing to see this type of collaboration and communication taking place. History is so often pushed to the wayside as one of the fields that have grown ten-fold since the advent of the internet but the darkness of history has never before been nearly so illuminated as today. Now...how about finding a 1903 " Bushmaster" National Guard Carbine,or a Ross 1911 " Study Contract Pistol" ( rarer than Singer),made in Quebec. Dad helped set up the Factory 🏭 . They made a few EXTRA un- numbered and unmarked( for the most part) " Lunch Box Specials. The Workers were from New York, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire. P. S.: Start reading National Guard Magazines and the American Rifleman from that Era.

I was thinking about a friend that moved to California that I hadn't heard from in many years. He called me the very next day! To make things even more bizarre, he asked about another friend we hadn't seen in many years and I said I hadn't seen him in a many years as well. Two days later, I ran across him at a local WalMart parking lot!. Strange things happen for a reason.
