I don't think that Funky will share a spot with DK because their trick animations and voice clips are different unlike other skins. Further more, we can even see DK in the trailer and 2 of the same character can't be racing at the same time when offline. Therefore, Funky Kong is NOT a skin of DK and his own separate character.
The problem with the 2nd option Is that the other characters that have alternate costumes Is that they are only recolors, not different characters like Funky and Peachette. Plus Peachette being in Peach's spot doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Yes, she Is a Peach clone, but she Is a Toadette esclusive transformation.

Frrr im tired of the same karts wheels and gliders. For such a big game with 96 tracks and like 50 Characters, being just like 10 karts and fewer glider and wheels its just dissapointing
here's an idea. remember back in march when wave 4 dropped and we got a leak saying we'll get 14 characters total for dlc? people didn't believe it then, but if you go by column/row you get 6 in a row, 8 in a column. add the two together and you get 14. what if instead, pauline and peachette get a new row across the bottom with 6 new characters making for 14 total? besides, adding ANOTHER row to the right will start to squish the 3d character select preview.
If 👏🏻 they 👏🏻 have 👏🏻 their 👏🏻 own 👏🏻 animations 👏🏻 they 👏🏻 are 👏🏻 unique 👏🏻 characters 👏🏻 No other costume in MK8 changes the animations for tricking. Yoshi and Birdo all have the same animations regardless of color. Metal and Gold Mario both share trick animations, while Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach are unique… this is what determines costume from unique character slot along with stats.
Obviously Funky Kong will be put with DK, but Peachette since she came from New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe as only playable by Toadette, will be a definite alt costume for Toadette.
the horizontal lines have 8 slots, besides every horizontal line has its own theme so they will probably just move the dlc character row between de koopalings and cross over characters.
If you rewatch the Wave 6 DLC announcement you can see that Diddy Kong,Funky Kong, Pauline and Peachette all have a icon on their bikes and karts so this means that it isn't an alternative and they are all separate characters. We could actually get more characters but I'm not sure about that. Just rewatch the Wave 6 and analyze

I think It will look like a mix between option 1 & 3. I wish there would be four remaining slot after the Booster Course Pass, and then we get some dlc for battle mode that adds the other four characters.
I noticed something, when they reveal the new characters its like this: Funky Kong (character), why would they need to specify that they are characters, my theory, we're getting costumes for other characters, exemple: Builder Mario (costume) or Captain Toad (costume)
All I’m saying is that it’s possible. Unless Peachette and Funky take the slots of existing character alts, they’ll have to add them on an entirely new row, leaving four extra slots. They probably chose the four big characters to use in the trailer and saved the rest as a surprise announcement.
My guess is they had more planned all along, they just weren’t ready in time for the earlier waves. My guess is they’ll add them in a small update by themselves
the 3rd option is unrealistic cuz were getting a new console soon anyway, theyre probably already working on the next mario kart game, not adding more to 8 deluxe. most likely theyll just rearrange the character select screen from an 8*6 to a 5*10 to fit in the two more characters than we thought we'd get.
No chance Nintendo would put any DLC character behind old ones as costumes. They want all the DLC characters advertised front and center on the character screen for non DLC buyers.
Nintendo is definitely not making funky Kong an alt for Dk,Funky and Dk is both different characters and it’s like having Luigi as an alt for Mario because they look similar and have the same face,Funky needs his own slot and so does peachette
Nintendo are not doing alts. Villager boy and use to share a slot in the original. In deluxe, they are their own characters. If they are doing alts, it would have to make sense. Other colored Yoshis: yes. Funky being an alt for DK: no.
Tbh this would be a great way to do unlockables unlock character alts, i would really like it if they make the tour characters unlockables. But if not that alts should be considered.
The reason that yoshi, inkling, link, etc have costumes is because they share the same animations and voice clip. In the reveal we see that funky has different animations and voice clips, so i think he'll be his own character. For the same reason, i dont think he'll replace tanooki mario and cat peach due to them having different animations. We DEFINITELY aren't getting more characters, they revealed most of the heavy hitters. Online, I've seen a lot of wishlists and most of them included one of the following: Diddy, Funky, Pauline, and ROB. If they were to add 4 more characters, it would probably be ROB, Hammer, Boomerang, Fire, and Ice Bro (all costumes), DK Jr., and King Bob-Omb. I feel like they're just going to stick with the uneven character select screen. But, in a few months I will probably go back to this comment and see all the replies telling me how poorly this aged and that they're adding 4 more characters, but none of the ones i listed. Very cool
Bro rob and dk jr would never get added. Not only are they the hardest to port to 8d, they’re also the least relevant. Dixie/nabbit/captain toad are much more likely imo

I honestly think they may add more stuff from tour to Mario kart , cause tour is being done in October and they can easily add all the alts ( like they have birdo , yoshi and shy guy selection screen) and bring in 4 more characters, but i really want and see all the alts in each character ( cause i really want party Pauline and aurora roselina outfit too )
What they could is make Toadette have the option as a costume for Peachette, and then also have Villager Boy and Girl as costumes like they did on Wii U, and then Funky and Pauline would have there two available spots
My personal take on how this could play out (if Nintendo is trying to preserve Tour's legacy): -Tanooki Mario, Metal Mario / Gold Mario, Cat Peach, Pink Gold Peach and Dry Bowser will be reworked to have the same stats as Mario, Peach and Bowser respectively so they can become alts instead of using up character slots (this change may not be used for Dry Bones since there are many different Koopas, so they could still be different). -Peachette could be a Toadette alt (because they are still technically the same character as seen in Mario Bros. U Deluxe). -The Villagers and Inklings could be merged into one slot as well (though it wouldn't make as much sense since they are still different characters, but can be argued for since in Splatoon and Animal Crossing they are made to represent the player, like Miis, who can be changed depending on which ones the player has created in the Mii Maker app) That leaves 8 more character slots available, which allows for more characters: -Nabbit -Hammer Bro (the other Bros would be alts) -King Bob-Omb -Monty Mole -Chargin' Chuck -Donkey Kong Jr. (though he should probably get a 3D model to match the rest of the cast, similar to what he would have gotten in Double Dash were it not for him being replaced by Diddy) -Poochy -Dixie Kong And there could potentially be more characters not from Tour (I'll give every possibility for this slot): -Paratroopa (Double Dash) (would be a different slot for the same reason as Dry Bones) -Toadsworth (Drives the Gold Car in the Award Ceremony in Double Dash) -Pac-Man (Arcade) -Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade) -Blinky (Arcade) -Mametchi (Arcade) -Don-Chan (Arcade) -Robo-Mario (Arcade) -ROB (MKDS) -E. Gadd (was supposed to be in MKDS) -Honey Queen (MK7) -Cranky Kong (Newcomer) The other character costumes and Mii suits could also be added in. It could also be possible that any karts, wheels or gliders from Tour that are not yet in 8DX can be added in this wave, and the reworking of part slots could be the same way as stated for characters (example: Roller and Azure Roller tires could now be in one slot) I still hope they add to Battle Mode and give more items to use (especially with Custom Items being added in wave 3). As for the courses still only in Tour or other games, we'll see if they make a BCP2.
Well they may rearrange the roster again, just to put the DLC characters in the left and right corner, leaving the first and last rows intact while the left corner is formed by Birdo, Wiggler, Diddy Kong and Pauline, and the right corner is formed by Petey Piranha, Kamek, Funky Kong and Peachette
All of this is great but people keep forgetting that Peachette is really Toadette so she would be under Toadette instead. I know she looks like Peach but she’s a power up not peach herself in a new mushroom crown.
@SwitchStop What about options 4, 5, and 6? Option 4: A new row instead of a column for an additional 6 characters. Optional 5: A combination of Options 3 and 4 for a new column and a new row. Option 6: Turn the roster 10x5, and don't add more characters at all. There could also be the "Echo Racers" route where each additional character shares a slot wih a character they share traits or stats with (ex: Nabbit and Bowser Jr. both having scarves with teeth), but that sounds off and would make the mini rosters a bit awkward.
I really hope this is true. My friends and I loved the Direct, but Dixie Kong being the one Kong in Mario Kart Tour omitted from MK8D was the biggest disappointment for us, so I hope she is added in.
The only characters that were in mainline Mario karts that aren’t in 8 deluxe are DK Jr, paratroopa, ROB, and honey queen. If they add 4 more slots to make the select screen balanced they might be the ones added.
PIN? The chance of Peachette and Funky Kong being costumes are highly unlikely as you would need to buy DLC for the extra waves but DK and are included without DLC so it would just kinda be weird for Nintendo to do that.
They could turn Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach into costumes for Mario and Peach respectively, also they should move the Mii slot over one so it is in the bottom right.
I can totally see Nintendo throwing a curve ball and adding more characters since it's the last wave! It's Nintendo after all .. they're full of surprises ... just look at the introduction of Peachette. I wasn't particularly wanting her, more wanting characters such as ROB and Paratroopa with em being legacy characters, but it was a nice surprise showing that they could do anything to shock us. Also, with tour coming to an end with content and eventually closing down, it's kinda a waste having all the costumes/characters that haven't been ported to 8DX not being used within the mainline console game and lost forever within pixel space. So, I could defo see them adding new content updates to the game like you said with the content, that or save them for the next mainline game. Oh yeah btw, great vid! lots of good possibilities!
There’s a problem with your first two theories, because the last row of the character’s select screen is special in a way that there’s only non-mario-universe related characters in it, so those theories would just completely break this rule.
If they add an extra column my picks would be: Dixie, Nabbit, Poochy and King Bob Omb. I think they began to add characters too late, up until wave 4, if they added new character since wave 1 we could have more characters
I think Nintendo completely filling a new collumn in makes most sense. I doubt they actually revealed all their characters when they just revealed one character for the teaser last wave and then two other characters. It actually makes even more sense because this would mean Nintendo added two characters for each wave. Maybe people can buy single waves once the pass is finished and characters will be evenly distributed for each.
I'm pretty sure they will make all of them a seperate character because of all the different "power-up" characters like tenuki mario not being an alt but instead being his own character

Im pretty sure they will adjust the menu. probably cut a row and add a character to column. they did this with smash to adjust to upcoming DLC characters.
both funky and even peachette are just different people it would be weird to merge them when there's alts like cat peach and tandoori mario out there which i doubt they'd wanna merge and make less characters overall, i dont think costumes are necessary tbh another four characters to fill up another column is the best i can hope for

peach will be the character with the most iterations of her when wave 6 comes out, with 5 total versions on mk8d Peach Cat Peach Pink Gold Peach Peachette (i know it’s toadette, but it looks like peach) and Baby Peach
I think more characters will come with the wave. Proof? Characters weren't being added to the game until like Wave 3, skipping a couple waves, so maybe the new new characters will make up for their absence in the first 2 or so waves?
I know for a fact this wont happen but what i would want is a shop. When you open the shop we can use our coins that we collect from races to buy outfits/costumes for different characters [sort of like mario kart tours shop].

All I want (if they add extra characters) is Professor E. Gadd from Luigi's Mansion. I know it sounds weird, but if you look at the demo version of Mario Kart DS. Professor E. Gadd was originally planned to be a playable character. I really hope he makes it in the game.
Something this video did fail to recognize was the the GP rival edit. A few waves back, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Metal Mario, and Pink Gold Peach were all removed as rivals in Grand Prix, meaning they could not appear alongside their main counterparts. This also occurred with the Link styles, suggesting this was a change done for clone/costume characters. Thus, it’s evidently more likely that Pauline and Peachette replace Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach in the selection screen. No DLC characters can reasonably become alts as all of the DLC content needs to be available to view for the consumer. An official overview of the teaser confirmed that we are only receiving four characters this wave, and since Metal Mario has 7 going for him, it’s likely that the final outcome is the fursuits being swapped for the extra two characters.
I'm personally hoping that if we do get even more characters/skins, that we get King Bob-omb and Cat Mario, as they are probably my favorite Tour characters that I've unlocked. (Cat Mario could share the same stats as Tanooki Mario. It would make perfect sense if that's the case.)
I'm most excited about funky Kong because he has been my favorite mario kart character since I started playing mario kart when I was like 5 or 6 before I knew about tier lists or anything like that
The lack of new kart parts has been alarming since wave 1. It makes nintendo look like they're not smart enough to freshen up a stale selection that hasn't received anything new since 2018 and it has hurt my interest in the tracks more than anything. C'mon, i just want the swift talon, wild wing and platinum taxi. The tracks just haven't been as fun to race on when the kart selection has been stagnant for so long.
Id say nope since were done with characters for MK8D, HOWEVER we still have the remaining empty slots of items in the item customization AND the lack of new vehicle parts for a very very very VEERY long time so i HOPE get get more content as free updates this time around.

If they will put more characters or not well in my opinion Diddy's inclusion is enough for me to consider Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the best MK that I ever played (before was Mario Kart Wii) but now I would like to focus about the other circuits after Daisy's one annuouncement, the remaining Tour's circuit must be in (Rome, Madrid, PP Cove and PP Pipeline)
Funky and DK are different characters and so are Peach and Peachette so it would be weird to make them alts. I think it would make way more sense to make tanooki Mario and cat Peach alts of mario and peach because they are the same character.
Honestly the best characters to add would be DK jr.,hammer bro (fire,ice,coin bro as skin(and you could make each one a sumo bro),Dixie kong, and blue shell Koopa from the movie. Also did everybody just forget about the fact they haven’t added any new items yet?

It's hard to say what Nintendo is going to do moving forward, but one thing's for sure that the development team working on the dlc is clearly very passionate about what they're doing. All the dlc promised was returning courses from previous games, then we got new stages. People complained that some stages didn't look great and coconut mall needed moving cars, the updated textures and they made the cars spin. We thought we were only getting stages, they updated the customization for vs mode and online lobbies and added new characters. We think we're only getting one row of characters, let's wait and see how that plays out.
I would hate it if they made Funky Kong a costume for DK. He is a original character that desserves his own roster slot unlike Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach.

i will say tour has more than enough characters in it to add more to 8 and tour also has more than enough tracks still left in the game to do another year's worth of tracks
surprised you didnt bring up the actual most likely option of combining other actual clones like tanooki mario and cat peach into costumes since those literally are costumes, i dont think it would make sense to hide their new characters theyre showing off behind menus for other ones that only have somewhat to do with them

Tbh this would be a great way to do unlockables unlock character alts, i would really like it if they make the tour characters unlockables. But if not that alts should be considered.
The reason that yoshi, inkling, link, etc have costumes is because they share the same animations and voice clip. In the reveal we see that funky has different animations and voice clips, so i think he'll be his own character. For the same reason, i dont think he'll replace tanooki mario and cat peach due to them having different animations. We DEFINITELY aren't getting more characters, they revealed most of the heavy hitters. Online, I've seen a lot of wishlists and most of them included one of the following: Diddy, Funky, Pauline, and ROB. If they were to add 4 more characters, it would probably be ROB, Hammer, Boomerang, Fire, and Ice Bro (all costumes), DK Jr., and King Bob-Omb. I feel like they're just going to stick with the uneven character select screen. But, in a few months I will probably go back to this comment and see all the replies telling me how poorly this aged and that they're adding 4 more characters, but none of the ones i listed. Very cool
They would probably add most of the characters you mentioned except Rob. He isn’t in Tour and can’t ride bikes. So he has like no chance
Bro rob and dk jr would never get added. Not only are they the hardest to port to 8d, they’re also the least relevant. Dixie/nabbit/captain toad are much more likely imo

I honestly think they may add more stuff from tour to Mario kart , cause tour is being done in October and they can easily add all the alts ( like they have birdo , yoshi and shy guy selection screen) and bring in 4 more characters, but i really want and see all the alts in each character ( cause i really want party Pauline and aurora roselina outfit too )
What they could is make Toadette have the option as a costume for Peachette, and then also have Villager Boy and Girl as costumes like they did on Wii U, and then Funky and Pauline would have there two available spots
My personal take on how this could play out (if Nintendo is trying to preserve Tour's legacy):
-Tanooki Mario, Metal Mario / Gold Mario, Cat Peach, Pink Gold Peach and Dry Bowser will be reworked to have the same stats as Mario, Peach and Bowser respectively so they can become alts instead of using up character slots (this change may not be used for Dry Bones since there are many different Koopas, so they could still be different).
-Peachette could be a Toadette alt (because they are still technically the same character as seen in Mario Bros. U Deluxe).
-The Villagers and Inklings could be merged into one slot as well (though it wouldn't make as much sense since they are still different characters, but can be argued for since in Splatoon and Animal Crossing they are made to represent the player, like Miis, who can be changed depending on which ones the player has created in the Mii Maker app)
That leaves 8 more character slots available, which allows for more characters:
-Nabbit
-Hammer Bro (the other Bros would be alts)
-King Bob-Omb
-Monty Mole
-Chargin' Chuck
-Donkey Kong Jr. (though he should probably get a 3D model to match the rest of the cast, similar to what he would have gotten in Double Dash were it not for him being replaced by Diddy)
-Poochy
-Dixie Kong
And there could potentially be more characters not from Tour (I'll give every possibility for this slot):
-Paratroopa (Double Dash) (would be a different slot for the same reason as Dry Bones)
-Toadsworth (Drives the Gold Car in the Award Ceremony in Double Dash)
-Pac-Man (Arcade)
-Ms. Pac-Man (Arcade)
-Blinky (Arcade)
-Mametchi (Arcade)
-Don-Chan (Arcade)
-Robo-Mario (Arcade)
-ROB (MKDS)
-E. Gadd (was supposed to be in MKDS)
-Honey Queen (MK7)
-Cranky Kong (Newcomer)
The other character costumes and Mii suits could also be added in. It could also be possible that any karts, wheels or gliders from Tour that are not yet in 8DX can be added in this wave, and the reworking of part slots could be the same way as stated for characters (example: Roller and Azure Roller tires could now be in one slot)
I still hope they add to Battle Mode and give more items to use (especially with Custom Items being added in wave 3).
As for the courses still only in Tour or other games, we'll see if they make a BCP2.

Well they may rearrange the roster again, just to put the DLC characters in the left and right corner, leaving the first and last rows intact while the left corner is formed by Birdo, Wiggler, Diddy Kong and Pauline, and the right corner is formed by Petey Piranha, Kamek, Funky Kong and Peachette
Fun Fact, after wave 6 launches, we can play the entirety of the Wii Star Cup in 8 Deluxe, with any mkwii character

All of this is great but people keep forgetting that Peachette is really Toadette so she would be under Toadette instead. I know she looks like Peach but she’s a power up not peach herself in a new mushroom crown.

My only issue with Funky being an alt is that we saw DK in the same race behind Pauline. Two alts can’t race at the same time

Option 4: A new row instead of a column for an additional 6 characters.
Optional 5: A combination of Options 3 and 4 for a new column and a new row.
Option 6: Turn the roster 10x5, and don't add more characters at all.
There could also be the "Echo Racers" route where each additional character shares a slot wih a character they share traits or stats with (ex: Nabbit and Bowser Jr. both having scarves with teeth), but that sounds off and would make the mini rosters a bit awkward.
I really hope this is true. My friends and I loved the Direct, but Dixie Kong being the one Kong in Mario Kart Tour omitted from MK8D was the biggest disappointment for us, so I hope she is added in.
The only characters that were in mainline Mario karts that aren’t in 8 deluxe are DK Jr, paratroopa, ROB, and honey queen. If they add 4 more slots to make the select screen balanced they might be the ones added.
I think they're going to put male and female villager/inkling together, clearing up 2 more slots.

PIN? The chance of Peachette and Funky Kong being costumes are highly unlikely as you would need to buy DLC for the extra waves but DK and are included without DLC so it would just kinda be weird for Nintendo to do that.

I can totally see Nintendo throwing a curve ball and adding more characters since it's the last wave! It's Nintendo after all .. they're full of surprises ... just look at the introduction of Peachette. I wasn't particularly wanting her, more wanting characters such as ROB and Paratroopa with em being legacy characters, but it was a nice surprise showing that they could do anything to shock us.
Also, with tour coming to an end with content and eventually closing down, it's kinda a waste having all the costumes/characters that haven't been ported to 8DX not being used within the mainline console game and lost forever within pixel space. So, I could defo see them adding new content updates to the game like you said with the content, that or save them for the next mainline game.

There’s a problem with your first two theories, because the last row of the character’s select screen is special in a way that there’s only non-mario-universe related characters in it, so those theories would just completely break this rule.
Who cares about characters when they don’t matter. Characters only really mattered in double dash when they got unique items.
If they add an extra column my picks would be: Dixie, Nabbit, Poochy and King Bob Omb. I think they began to add characters too late, up until wave 4, if they added new character since wave 1 we could have more characters
Also peachette is not going to be with toadette. They have different weight classes.

I think Nintendo completely filling a new collumn in makes most sense. I doubt they actually revealed all their characters when they just revealed one character for the teaser last wave and then two other characters.
It actually makes even more sense because this would mean Nintendo added two characters for each wave. Maybe people can buy single waves once the pass is finished and characters will be evenly distributed for each.
I'm pretty sure they will make all of them a seperate character because of all the different "power-up" characters like tenuki mario not being an alt but instead being his own character
Dixie Kong would be nice. The last Mario game that I played that had her in the roster was Mario Hoops 3 on 3.

Im pretty sure they will adjust the menu. probably cut a row and add a character to column. they did this with smash to adjust to upcoming DLC characters.
Another thing is we will probaly get something similar to the gold Mario and kart set if you get stars and complete mirror tracks for dlc tracks
both funky and even peachette are just different people it would be weird to merge them when there's alts like cat peach and tandoori mario out there which i doubt they'd wanna merge and make less characters overall, i dont think costumes are necessary tbh another four characters to fill up another column is the best i can hope for
My guess is that Pauline and diddy Kong are new characters, funky Kong is a alternative costume for donkey Kong and peachette is an alternative costume for peach 3:29 oh

I think more characters will come with the wave. Proof? Characters weren't being added to the game until like Wave 3, skipping a couple waves, so maybe the new new characters will make up for their absence in the first 2 or so waves?

I know for a fact this wont happen but what i would want is a shop. When you open the shop we can use our coins that we collect from races to buy outfits/costumes for different characters [sort of like mario kart tours shop].

After all, since Bangkok Rush in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is able to keep its cameos of Flame Flyer and Royale when traversing the Sky Train path, I don't see why additional vehicles should not be added.

@@biondigiacomo7176 When taking the upper path of the Sky Train in Bangkok Rush in Laps 1 and 3, there are 3 billboards to the right (left in mirrored track) that sponsor a "Mario Kart Motor Show".
One billboard sports the P-Wing (one of two of my all-time favorite Mario Kart vehicles), and the other two sport vehicles not yet used in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Flame Flyer (from Mario Kart Wii) with Off-Road wheels and Royale (from Mario Kart DS) with Standard Wheels.
With Bangkok Rush being a Mario Kart Tour track, these vehicle cameos were retainef when the track was transferred over into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

All I want (if they add extra characters) is Professor E. Gadd from Luigi's Mansion. I know it sounds weird, but if you look at the demo version of Mario Kart DS. Professor E. Gadd was originally planned to be a playable character. I really hope he makes it in the game.
Something this video did fail to recognize was the the GP rival edit. A few waves back, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Metal Mario, and Pink Gold Peach were all removed as rivals in Grand Prix, meaning they could not appear alongside their main counterparts. This also occurred with the Link styles, suggesting this was a change done for clone/costume characters.
Thus, it’s evidently more likely that Pauline and Peachette replace Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach in the selection screen. No DLC characters can reasonably become alts as all of the DLC content needs to be available to view for the consumer. An official overview of the teaser confirmed that we are only receiving four characters this wave, and since Metal Mario has 7 going for him, it’s likely that the final outcome is the fursuits being swapped for the extra two characters.
i have researched on mario kart tour and i dont think its getting shut down. there are no new stuff coming, but the service is still intact
I'm personally hoping that if we do get even more characters/skins, that we get King Bob-omb and Cat Mario, as they are probably my favorite Tour characters that I've unlocked.
(Cat Mario could share the same stats as Tanooki Mario. It would make perfect sense if that's the case.)

I'm most excited about funky Kong because he has been my favorite mario kart character since I started playing mario kart when I was like 5 or 6 before I knew about tier lists or anything like that
The lack of new kart parts has been alarming since wave 1. It makes nintendo look like they're not smart enough to freshen up a stale selection that hasn't received anything new since 2018 and it has hurt my interest in the tracks more than anything. C'mon, i just want the swift talon, wild wing and platinum taxi. The tracks just haven't been as fun to race on when the kart selection has been stagnant for so long.
Id say nope since were done with characters for MK8D, HOWEVER we still have the remaining empty slots of items in the item customization AND the lack of new vehicle parts for a very very very VEERY long time so i HOPE get get more content as free updates this time around.

I consider it a possibility that they may add in the remaining characters from Tour that aren’t variants (aside from DK Jr.) but I will try and not be too hopeful as I don’t want to make myself very disappointed if that doesn’t happen.

If they will put more characters or not well in my opinion Diddy's inclusion is enough for me to consider Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the best MK that I ever played (before was Mario Kart Wii) but now I would like to focus about the other circuits after Daisy's one annuouncement, the remaining Tour's circuit must be in (Rome, Madrid, PP Cove and PP Pipeline)
Funky and DK are different characters and so are Peach and Peachette so it would be weird to make them alts. I think it would make way more sense to make tanooki Mario and cat Peach alts of mario and peach because they are the same character.
Honestly the best characters to add would be DK jr.,hammer bro (fire,ice,coin bro as skin(and you could make each one a sumo bro),Dixie kong, and blue shell Koopa from the movie. Also did everybody just forget about the fact they haven’t added any new items yet?

It's hard to say what Nintendo is going to do moving forward, but one thing's for sure that the development team working on the dlc is clearly very passionate about what they're doing. All the dlc promised was returning courses from previous games, then we got new stages. People complained that some stages didn't look great and coconut mall needed moving cars, the updated textures and they made the cars spin. We thought we were only getting stages, they updated the customization for vs mode and online lobbies and added new characters. We think we're only getting one row of characters, let's wait and see how that plays out.
