Wicked has always had that steampunk aesthetic and I can’t wait for everyone to adopt it after this movie 😁

So let me just start off by saying that anything Wizard of Oz gets me excited, be it on stage or in the movies. I think its one of the richest pieces of material for the theatre, in fact both Wicked and The Wiz are 2 of my favorite musical soundtracks ever.
I also love that the silver slippers finally debut, being a big fan of the original Oz books. And seeing the sort of design they go for with the vehicles and the environments, it feels like a perfect trifecta amalgamation of the original Oz books, The original Wizard of Oz film, and Wicked itself. So it's appealing to EVERYTHING an Oz fan could want, right down to the colors and how bold, yet not too over the top in saturation. It feels real and bright and wonderful. This feels like a movie you'd just, light up experiencing, and that's what an Oz production should do in any form.
I'm incredibly excited to see this, and I love that they're also taking the time to make this a 2 part film so we can relish in this world and this story as much as possible. 💚
I’m so glad you are just as excited as I am. Seeing the trailer with a sober mind I keep thinking about what we see in this trailer, we won’t actually see the full scene until PART 2!!! For example, seeing Dorothy and the gang. Also, a real lion!!! Oooooo 🤣
@PerformancePerspective I KNOW, it's almost painful because you have to brace yourself for that cut off, and then hold out for another year to finish the rest. I have faith it'll be worth it and I'll be satisfied, but YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO US!! I need it all, and I need it now 😂

@PerformancePerspective Absolutely, this is escapism at its finest, I'll probably be one of the dorks that does up my own Scarecrow costume for the premiere, because I've played him in the stage version of the original before

I was at the bar when the trailer came on and I was like AHHHHHHHHHHHH freaking out. Don’t know how I feel about the defying gravity riff. Kinda mad they teased us with it. VERY nervous about this movie. Especially after what they did to mean girls.
I enjoyed Mean Girls, but I went in after seeing Wonka and Color Purple. So I wonder if that was what helped me enjoy it.
All of the different shows have a different riff to that song, not one of them are the same. Cynthia’s version is my ultimate favorite. There is much more emotion in her version.
It is kind of surprising (or not) that a majority of people only know the Idina Menzel riff and have attached that riff to the identity of the song.
I think my shock was coming from that they gave us the riff and didn’t make us wait for it. Which I appreciate. Also, I love her riff.
I think the wedding dress is maybe from “I’m not that girl” or the reprise, and it’s either an elphaba or Galinda point of view situation. If it might even get used twice, with different endings, so maybe in elphaba’s version fiyero is at the end of the aisle, in G(a)linda’s reprise he might not be there. If it’s not used there I’m curious where it will be placed.

I think mgm was trying to show off their new technicolor technology with the red shoes at the time. But it serves as a good metaphor , silver/ black abd white shoes in kansas as farmgirl dorothy gale...red rubys in oz

My husband got me into it. So you could imagine my surprise when going to watch a game with him and people sing YNWA from Carousel. I was ready to sing along. 🤣. Also, imagine my husband’s face when I said “I know this song! Billy Bigalow just wanted money to support his wife and unborn baby, but it was bad robbery and died. Nettie Fowler sings this song to comfort Julie since she’s poor, pregnant and now a widow. And we’re still in the first act!” I was meant to be a Liverpool fan. Oh and I got to see a game in Anfield!!! Do you have a favorite player?

Oh gosh I'm part of a Discord server supporting the women's team and informing some of them that YNWA is from Carousel was a "This is MY moment" sort of thing 😅 I got to be in the Kop watching the women play at Anfield last year and it was a life long dream come true! (Like we lost but the atmosphere made up for it, did cry at the very end of YNWA ❤) like I was supposed to see the men for the very first time the week after but our seats (in the Anfield Road Stand) wasn't built yet 🙃 (I also have mental health issues and I wasn't in the right frame of mind to go then anyway)

Funny enough my husband’s story is similar to you as he inherited the love for Liverpool from his brother and now my family is into it. The Carabao Cup winning made me cry to see how Klopp had the faith that the B-String could rise to the occasion. Some of them being in their teens and when the team went up to the stands I was happy that they pushed Keller to be center because YES Virgil was MVP, but Keller held his ground and blocked some intense goal shots.

Darwin celebrating rushing down the stairs mowing down everyone in his way (Poor Mo and Curtis 😂) and basically jumping hurdels whilst injured was absolutely hilarious 😂😂
Trent getting into the Academy picture was so special because I was like "Yes he absolutely should be there! as well he's one of the biggest success' and is helping others who sadly doesn't get a contract after their Academy days"

No, I think is being to aware that she’s wearing makeup, but the skin is perfect so I’m confused.
@@CareOffBook I wonder why they decided to make her that shade of green since it's different in the stage show. It doesn't quite look right here. I don't think it's because Cynthia is black because black actresses have played her on Broadway and the green makeup was the same as everyone else.
@alexl.7668 it could be color grading her in the say time. My reaction when saying Drag Queen is know when you take a pic with them they want the flash on. Seeing them in natural lighting is when you can see how much makeup is and any imperfections. I wonder with Elphaba if her skin looks so flawless it’s throwing me off. Like where’s the glow and sweat or peach fuzz. It’s a lot minor details, but I wonder if that’s why I’m a little taken back.
I’d be very happy if the movie took more from the book. The book is a very dark, political thriller. The musical is a generic high-school drama cliché.
I hope Fiero will be brown skinned with his distinctive markings.
The actress plying Madame Morrible is a terrible choice. That actress only plays the same character in everything she’s in and looks nothing like the character - where’s the bulging eyes and goldfish appearance.
I also think Ariana Grande was miscast as Galinda. I was hoping for someone far more akin to a younger Billie Burke.
Jonathon Bailey is playing Fiyero and the trailer had one shot of him. I love Michelle Yeoh so I’m interested to see if they expand that character. I haven’t read the book so I’m comparing to the stage musical as the source. I would’ve loved if they had Glinda as a strawberry blonde like Billie, but the songs reference Glinda as blonde and golden hair. I hope you’re not discouraged to go see it when it comes out.
