    Nepotism is the most basic human concept, all animals take care of their own first, however, exposing your child to what you know is going to be an onslaught of hateful comments is insane. If North wanted to perform it was her parent’s responsibility to make sure she’s prepared or not let her do it to protect her from that

    The guy in the beginning actually plays all of the characters he transforms into in the musical. He plays many members of the family that get killed off by Monty(sir).

    If it was remade today, they'd probably race swap and push for extreme feminism, and one or more of the brothers/brides would probably be gay... Please note that I'm not saying that I am for or against it (I personally don't mind changes nor exact copies; and if someone doesn't like changes: that's a valid response as well and also the original work still exists for them) I'm just stating what we might expect of remakes these days.

    The one thing I'll say to those who think it's just a vanity project...watch the documentary. It might be an ego thing, but not vanity. I think she definitely felt like she had something to prove to the world and to herself and there's a sadness behind her motivations which is why I don't think it had to do with vanity. She really took a huge leap for better or for worst, because everyone told her not to do it, she had to use her own money, and she was practically begging for the celebrities she did get. She knew this might end up being a big embarrassment for her and she still did it.

  • @QueenSoap
    @QueenSoap หลายเดือนก่อน

    I would never say this is a must see, but it's also not as bad as TikTok and TH-cam have made it out to be. It has a 75% score on rotten tomatoes and both the audience and critics agree which rarely happens. I can also see some young peeps, like teens, enjoying the fairytale aspect along with the visuals, dancing, and some of the music is pretty decent too. I can see this having a small cult following with those who might even love it. This review is definitely a more balanced take on the material, as I think a lot of people just ran with the negative press regardless of if they even watched it.

    I've always loved wicked because everything surface level is kinda simple, the set, the songs, the story, the character blah blah blah... But the more you see it and the more you know the more detailed it gets. It's a bit like phantom in that respect where 1/2 the stage is black but you fill in the blanks with your imagination. This movie is literally (from what we've seen) doing the same and filling in those blanks making it exciting again. The best musicals that last, phantom, Chicago, wicked, Les mis are the ones that leave room for the imagination I think... Even cats!

    THANK YOU for doing this! You clearly see the depth of the screenplay, not surprisingly written by Hackett and Goodrich, the duo who also wrote the basic script of "It's a Wonderful Life", another masterpiece of emotional, multi-leveled story telling. And despite "7 Brides"' reputation as some sort of neanderthal relic, it's an unexpectedly warm and wise tale of the rough, rugged pioneer life in the wilderness of 1850's Oregon. And, as you say, the CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT in the "7 Brides" screenplay is a wonder to behold. 1.) Adam makes it clear how important a strong, sturdy wife is, and how difficult it is to find one (sorry, ladies). 2.) During their wagon ride, Millie reveals her idealistic dreams of wedded life, and watch how Adam is JUST ABOUT to tell her of the situation at the farm, when Millie bursts into song ("Wonderful Day"); so, he tried. 3.) Millie is crushed when she realizes her actual role as a frontier wife..but instead of collapsing, she accepts her fate, rolls up her sleeves, and starts to work (again..sorry, ladies) 4.) Adam and Millie have a deep and somewhat painful talk on their wedding night. 5.) Millie's plan to get the brothers cleaned up, married, and OUT of the house gradually begins to change. They all pile on the wagon to accompany her to town, where the petite Millie JUST misses getting slugged by big Jeff Richards in the street brawl, after which she shames the big guy like a child. 6.) The bond between Millie and the guys grows, as she teaches them how to court a girl through dancing, then sets them up at the big barn raising. "And remember...no fighting." 7.) Check that great moment when the resourceful Millie intercepts Frank (Tommy Rall) JUST AS he's about to attack the town guys,thus preventing an all-out brawl by demonstrating how DANCING will impress the girls. WHAT A SCENE! And so it goes, with the destruction of the barn, and the brothers' heavy-hearted isolation from their girls due to the L-O-N-G winter in the mountains (and their mystical, ritualistic "Axe Dance" in the snow). Then when Benjamin tells Millie he's leaving, she tells Adam of her hopes and dreams for an extended family life with the brothers: families, babies, get-togethers, holidays, etc..... I get misty-eyed every time, because that's what America USED to feel like when this film was made (I was there). And to think she was originally repulsed by these guys and wanted to marry them off ASAP; now THAT's growth...emotional, even spiritual. Sure, Adam and the boys are WAY too impulsive in their abduction of the ladies but, as Adam says, it was Millie's (and Plutarch's) story of the "Sobbin' (Sabine) Women that gave them the idea. After that, it's Millie's courage, no-nonsense conviction, strength, and love that "elevate" Adam and his brothers to a higher emotional and spiritual plane. Yet so many short-sighted people turn "7 Brides" off in disgust, due to their phony claims of "misogynism". And even though we all witness the surface signs of it, it takes a sensitive, level-headed viewer such as yourself to grasp the depth and humanity .. and the emotional GROWTH of the film, from one beautifully-written scene to the next. Again, thanks for your insightful commentary on a truly great film.

    Very nice video. Two points: Regarding the ending of Queen's Gambit, I don't know I agree with your interpretation: I found it quite symbolic. Chess is notorious as an abstract strategy game with huge emphasis of forethought and planning. I think Ms. Harmon's decision to do something out of the ordinary (get out of the car and instead walk to the airport, via the park) represents her doing something random/unplanned and contrary to how most of her life has been to that point. It's a response to her having fulfilled her ambition of becoming World Champion: she can finally stop living such a regimented life and make decisions that aren't necessarily aimed at achieving the optimum outcome. As to how a musical might work, I'm less concerned about how elements such as Ms. Harmon's visualisation of chess moves will work. I'm interested in how music and song will be used to tell the main characters' stories and their challenges. Might be interesting if they use the opportunity to delve a bit more into backstory/motivations of certain characters such as Mr. Shaibel, her adoptive mother Alma and Townes.

    I love Grease 2. I have probably seen it around 10 times. I love the comedy in it. The way you feel about michael is the same way I feel about some of the other women in it. Stephanie, Sharon and the twins. :) I remember when I was younger I would always tell my friends Grease is the movie girls would make their boyfriend watch with them and Grease 2 is more for men since we love immature sex humor. :) But alot of women like it too so I guess that theory is out.

    Great video! I’ve probably seen this one more than I’ve seen the original, even tho I love them both equally. Cool Rider was always my favorite growing up. But you’re right! As an adult I had noticed literally everything you said! And to your point of her still dancing away to the song that just won’t stop playing, Michael is looking directly at her! Meaning yes she is still going 😂 I know you didn’t like the T-Birds. Which I can understand because they are so sexually charged among other reasons. But I hope at least Johnny and Goose will grow on you over time. Goose is always doing something in the background. Whether it’s a look, an action, or a great quip, he really adds to every scene he’s in. And Johnny is obviously no Travolta. But he’s actually very good here. He does a lot of little things as well. Especially when he’s with Goose. They’re almost always cracking me up. I think Grease appeals to so many because it’s a great movie with great songs you can listen to whenever. Grease 2 is very much a musical right from the start so it matters more how you feel about musicals. Sorry for the long response. I just finished another rewatch and loved it even more. That’s how I found your video. Loved your take on it. I appreciate it more and more each viewing so I hope you do as well!
