Wicked Part 1 | MOVIE REVIEW
⭐️Hello Darling!⭐️
We’re flying into Wicked: Part One, the highly anticipated movie starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. Directed by Jon M. Chu, this film brings the beloved musical to the big screen, but does it truly capture the magic of Oz? I’ll share my thoughts on the casting, direction, and overall vibe of the movie so far, but what I really want to know is… what do YOU think?

A very light hearted musical nonetheless, of course it wouldn’t hold today though!
Can you do a movie review with spoilers?
You are spot on. Love me some Sutton (her Millie was off the charts, especially the 11 o’clock number) but here, she’s really not on point. Her belt is strident and pitchy. After seeing the clip, I would have no desire to see her do it live. You, my dear, are a riot by the way…end excellent Winifred btw.
It was bat shit crazy. That’s all I have to say about that!
I love your enthusiasm & feedback can’t wait to see it for myself!
Please enjoy and report back your experience.
Saw it yesterday and was shocked and delighted with it all. Loved every moment and seeing it again on Wednesday. The only nit picky thing I didn't like was the repeated madame M speech. I feel the first time she made the speech it should have been muffled or something so you couldn't quite hear it as they are hearing it from a distance and the 2nd time you hear it properly. It felt a little pointless and repetitive her saying it twice... Other than that though.. amazing and the first movie musical in ages that feels like a proper big musical... Probs the first one since the old mgm musicals from back in the day!
I can’t wait to go back and catch what you’re talking about! The best way I can describe it is that Madame Morrible really feels like the wizard’s mouthpiece-everything she does seems to amplify his influence. 🎭✨ Honestly, though, every time Michelle was on screen, I was just sitting there, jaw dropped, thinking, Wow, stunning. She’s incredible. 😍👏 Totally captivated-like, nothing else mattered in that moment! But stepping away from the movie or musical for a sec, I keep wondering about Madame Morrible’s backstory. What made her decide to work for the wizard? She clearly has her own powers, and he doesn’t really bring any magical strength to the table. 🤔🔮 Maybe it’s because he holds the power of the people, and she believes in his mission-like, with animals and other causes. 🦁🐾 Still, that’s something I’d love to dive deeper into and understand better! 📖✨
I went to a 10 PM showing on Thursday and it was all guys who wanted to see Wicked but didn't want anyone to know they wanted to see Wicked. It was kind of hilarious!
I love idea of a group being formed like the “bro-nies,” but instead they can be called the “defying guys” 🤣
It makes a better movie that a stage show. :)
I’d love to know your thoughts on Wicked: Part 1! Did it deliver everything you were hoping for, or do you have a few critiques of your own? I can’t wait to hear what you think!
there are more clips now! Another video? (BTW, seen it 5 times now... you'll LOVE)
This film is a very good musical that changes us from all those Hollywood movies, which are calibrated to please Disney fans. All the scenes are inspired, and the songs are visceral, deeply human. Singers don't sing perfectly, and that's what makes their emotions authentic. The hero is not a hero of a children's tale with no flaws, no they are deeply human people. The film is not perfect, especially with an ultra rushed ending, but it does better than most films of the genre, by standing out and bringing a more adult touch, less brodway, where everything is perfect, so much so that it sounds wrong. For those who can't read subtitles, wake up, open up to the world and make a minimum effort.
Can’t find them on you tube either! Help😢
congratulations care darling you are a mom now i want to name your baby girl i will pick emma
She has a name. I might reveal it once she’s here.
I whole heartedly love this movie. Is it good? That's debatable. But, it's in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. What you don't mention (or maybe didn't know or realize) is this movie has some musical royalty in it. Lorna Luft, who plays Paulette (the blonde Pink Lady) is the daughter of Judy Garland.
I'd like to point out that Russ Tamblyn (89) us still with us - as are also Julie Newmar (91) and Ruta Lee (89),
Both of Carol Burnett,s are in black and white.😂😅 color didn't come until 1965.
I agree, It's an amazing dance! When I was young I always wanted to be Liza, in part because she ends up with Ephraim (Jacques D'Amboise) who is my personal favourite but he is in the background more than the others. Maybe that's why I liked him because someone needs to love the overlooked ones! He was a ballet dancer too and is also in the dance in Carousel. I don't think the town boys get enough credit in this dance because we are naturally routing for the brothers but they are doing some fantastic and difficult choreography too. Sadly only one brother, Russ Tamblyn, is left now. I am please to say that (at time of writing) Julie Newmeyer who played Dorcus is still with us and in her 90's. So too is the actor who played Ruth.
It's got a very Stephen Sondheim feel and sound to it. Almost indicative of Evening Primrose.
I recently told my sister it gives me Pixar Michael Buble vibes. 🤣
I love that it's not typical Broadway. You don't have a huge key modulation in to a huge belty note and then a soft finish, which is ALL Broadway show nowadays. It's just pretty with very cool harmonies.
It was so refreshing to hear! I love that it didn’t feel forced, and they kept the harmonies simple, which only added to the beauty.
Anxiously awaiting the OBC recording! Also waiting for the Starkid fans to show up in the comments...👀😅
I saw the musical last night on Broadway 🎭 omg the music is amazing and production design is Stunning 🤩
I’m absolutely JEALOUS! I love the music so much. ❤
@@CareOffBookfrom the first song I was hooked, and I said to myself “ I’m so ready for the cast recording “ lol
Nicole Scherzinger has never supported Donald Trump or voted for him even though the majority of her family members quite publicly support him. The vagueness in her apology statement & not publicly endorsing a candidate is associated with her desire to respect her family members’ strong opinions. One of Nicole’s longtime best friends, LGBTQ+ American singer-songwriter Parson James publicly confirmed on Twitter(X) that Nicole is not a Donald Trump supporter or voted for him.
OR She wants Jesus to be put first again.
That's dumb.
How ridiculous of her to apologize! Have a backbone! She owes NO explanation to anyone and it is vile that anyone needs to explain and apologize for voting for Trump!!! More so, you should NEVER EVER apologize or be embarrassed for honoring our Lord, Jesus Christ!!! Her deleting the comment, "Make Jesus First Again" is just sad!!!!
I love how they filled out the orchestra with a horn section for this version. I also think these two did a fabulous job. Tracy might just be the queen of Joannes <3
She really is! 🤣
I love the hat too
So glad she’s putting Jesus first and not worrying about the color of a hat because it resembles a make America great again hat. What’s so bad about making America great? I did not see violence being perpetrated on behalf of the Americans that were supporting this cause. We the people want see and feel safe again, we want educational and parenting choices put back in our hands and taken away from woke educators. Teach our children don’t indoctrinate them. Healthy food would be amazing! No more chemicals! Hmm so far all I see is better choices for people and not for $$$
The hat is a parody. About Jesus. She's more likely religious than a trumper. Like come on
You seem like kind of a jerk.
Or its almost always a shitty quick cash grab that fails to deliver
I did saw the show in Chicago before it went to Broadway play. The show was here in Chicago round April until it ended around June it was very good
You should put hashtags in your description. I usually find videos them. Love the video btw, it deserves more views.
I didn’t realize you can do that. Thank you.🙏
Your hair and you in this dress : STUNNING!!
Also LOVED this update and so excited for this next part of your journey!

Loving this. I'm finally getting to play Maureen in a Canadian production and I am sooooo excited to craft this number!
First off congratulations! That is so exciting! 🌟
@ thank you! I think Eden Espinosa is still my favourite Maureen <3
@jenthinkspink I just put up another reaction of Rent. Warning I cheer for Joanne in the song. 🤣
@@CareOffBook Joanne is criminally underrated! I always find myself singing her parts in the car haha
She literally still looks like a popstar.
Why are you censoring the words sexual and assault and abuse as it relates to Russell Brand...? That is really weird.
Sometimes TH-cam flags words.
your commentary is far more balanced than anything I've seen on TikTok or IG. thank you for that. My thoughts: If you look at the exit polls, African Americans, hispanics, Asians all voted for Trump (i.e., republican) in record numbers. Not to mention, Trump also made notable gains among Jewish voters in key areas: New York, CA, Florida, etc. I mean, heck... New York freakin' city voted 30% for Trump. Every single county within the NYC metropolitan area moved toward Trump when compared to 4 years ago. This is unheard of for a Republican. Why doesn't THAT mean anything? I suppose the "tolerant" Broadway community thinks all of them, no doubt including endless POCs, are all vermin. They ALL shouldn't be employed on Broadway? Judging by the reaction to Nicole... that would a fair assumption as to how many of them feel. So sad. The fact this is even talked about and given serious merit is reflective of the woke mind virus taking over the left. America saw through it - which is why we are where we are. As you said, it's none of our business. Also, THIS is one of the reasons so many people "on the right" stay quiet... because of exactly what is happening with Nicole. It's tragic. It's evil, to be honest. Hopefully, the left will take a deep look inside themselves. It should be a community that is welcome to all.
Well there's a lot of people out there wouldn't wear that hat but they're wearing them now for the next president of the United States
I wouldn't vote for her
Listen here people, nicole Scherzinger always talked about her believe in god, Jesus and christianisme in interviews. She really meant what she meant and not in a political way because she doesn't have the update about social Media with politics and others she just commented about jesus and further more i don't think she owes anyone anything she's grown and have the Right to vote fo whoever she wants and leave people alone like why do stuff like this emerge to hate she liked Kamala Harris posts and she liked everything positive she doesn't even know people sometimes so that's why it did come down to what it is, maybe she didn't want to upset anyone because she may have members of her family who voted for Trump, like she doesn't owe an apology and please. don't mix art with politics and cancel people for no reason, and yes her real fans who really know her know what she voted for so if you want to see check her interview with the late larry king when she talked about trump winning and she was not happy back then. so don't judge someone Without knowing. Be kind to one another because there is so much hate out there for no reason and he won because people voted for him so if that, why don't you all go to their pages and start canceling every body like come on, people have to grow up and live their lives and move on. Nicole does not deserve the hate. I hope not but the uliminati maybe after her because she did not sell her soul to the devil and she got all this attention in Broadway and they are not happy about it I may be crazy but look it up people are being cancelled for no reason. Love your channel BTW 😊
Honestly, the RFK post caught me off guard. I get that Trump has a big following, and yes, more people voted for him. But I believe it’s more helpful to engage than to exclude-to welcome people in with kindness and insight, hoping that over time, maybe some education or open conversations can help them feel part of a larger, inclusive community. This is all personal for me, and I’m working on not taking it so hard. I’m pregnant, and today, there are higher risks with pregnancy than when I was born in the ‘90s. I’m also married to someone who’s technically an immigrant, so this all hits close to home. I know a lot of people back Trump for financial reasons, but personally, I can’t shake the feeling that he’s often not truthful, and I worry he’ll keep going down that path. When I think about my own family, I sometimes feel that my fears only seem real to them if something drastic happens. But since I’m likely going to be fine, they may never fully understand the worries that come with my life experience or what others face.
Nicole is an amazing talent period. I'm a 10000% seeing Nicole again. Politics should be separate from talent. Are all the trump supporters who are fans of Beyonce and Taylor Swift going to cancel them because they very clearly endorsed Kamala? Likely not. Let's give Nicole the same support and flowers she truly deserves. (Also support Mandy! She was incredible as well)❤
Great point.
Nichole is a very big Christian and she comments on anything jesus related that celebrities post. I'm sure she wasn't thinking of the context. Yes please do the take me or leave me video
Agree. I have seen a lot of interviews and she frequently mentions God. Until I hear more information, I am giving her the benefit of the doubt.
It’s the RFK post that threw me off.
@@CareOffBookit was after he was elected though. She wore a Kamala shirt. That’s an endorsement.
I honestly think that this entire situation with Nicole is ridiculous. It should not matter about her political beliefs, as they are in no relation to her performance or talent. As much as I love theater, and I have been a long time fan and always will be. It doesn’t prevent my disappointment in the truly narrow minded and vitriolic response they have whenever someone’s politics, personal values, or beliefs deviate from the left-wing script or acceptable thoughts and opinions. I put this in the same vein as when Laura Osness was blackballed from the theater community all because she didn’t want to take the Covid vaccine in 2020. All she did was back out of a project because she didn’t want to take the vaccine and didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. But as soon as people found out, they immediately have the same reaction with her as they are having with Nicole right now. The intolerance of differing opinions is insufferable and antithetical to everything the art of theater promotes. How can we ever progresses an art form? If we expect everyone to have the same thoughts, opinions, and beliefs? Not to mention, this attitude will go beyond just alienating, actors and talent, but also applied to audiences which at the moment Broadway is entirely desperate for. We really need to reevaluate what message we put out when every time a different opinion is expressed we think it’s now time to cancel and black ball them from all opportunities and spaces.
Your political beliefs show what kind of person you really are!
@No they don’t, they are a reflection of how you think government should be run and what they should be in charge of. Your values and personal conduct are what show what kind of a person you are. Now politics can reflect your values, but I wouldn’t judge how good a person is based on whether they vote democrat or republican. Those evolve over time and are subject to change.
I get why some people have that initial reaction when reading about or discussing certain voting choices-especially on a topic as nuanced as this. In the comment I pinned, I mentioned how voting can involve a lot more complexity than it may appear. For example, someone who is pro-life might think their stance only applies to one specific aspect. However, they might not fully grasp the broader impact it has, especially on women’s reproductive health. I’ve had countless conversations trying to explain this to a family member, like how pro-life policies affect people wanting to pursue IVF. It was a struggle because they found it hard to understand. Instead of getting frustrated, though, I choose to keep the conversation going as long as they’re open to listening. Even if it doesn’t lead to a big breakthrough, at least I’m doing my part to educate. Take Nicole, for instance-she’s openly pro-life, and I’d love to have a genuine conversation with her about it. Not that having children should necessarily affect anyone’s beliefs, but I do wonder: if she experienced pregnancy herself and saw the complexities firsthand-like what happens if there’s a medical issue in a state with strict laws-would her perspective shift? Because I was pro-life myself growing up. But over time, as I saw what others were going through, my empathy grew, and I began to see things differently.
I looked up the whole situation with Laura, and I initially thought she’d been kicked out of a production for hiding that she hadn’t gotten the COVID shot. Turns out, you’re right, she actually volunteered to leave, and now she’s suing the article for defamation over how it was reported. Might be interesting to dive into this for a video because who really knows the full story? When it first hit the news, it sounded like she was hiding it and even had an issue with people getting vaccinated, which made me think she was putting the cast and crew at risk. But it seems I might’ve jumped the gun on that-definitely more to the story than I realized!
also, would love to hear your thoughts in wicked if you get the chance to see it
Oh, you know I’m going to! I already have my tickets ready! I’ve been dodging that trailer left and right, and I even have a friend on standby to screen it for any spoilers. That way, I can actually sit down in the theater and soak up the whole experience without knowing too much upfront.
I didnt vote for trump (eeww), but i have to say, this hate towards nicole is off putting. It makes you realize how hateful and intolerant the far left is. Theyre not any better than the far right people.
Agreed. We need to lead by example.
This was very thoughtful. Having seen Nicole’s performance, it’s otherworldly. I will never forget it. But it is very VERY disappointing to hear she supports Russell Brand & Tucker Carlson (& clearly Drumpf) but it doesn’t make her performance any less phenomenal. The Jesus stuff is altogether too much but it usually IS from those folks (& I went to Catholic school so I KNOW). But I will say…if I was a Tony voter, I don’t know that I’d be giving my vote to a privileged MAGA lady. The theatre community is just that…a COMMUNITY. And we are gay & POC & female & we get to celebrate whoever WE want. And things being what they are perhaps Audra DOES deserve a seventh Tony for a performance we haven’t even seen yet. Or maybe Nicole will still win & she’ll be appointed to Drumpf’s cabinet. 🤷♂️ Actually…I take that back. No one needs a seventh Tony. Can’t wait to meet Baby Care!
Growing up in a Catholic household myself definitely brought its share of complicated feelings, especially with family who, because of their beliefs, hold some homophobic views. Their vote came from a place of division and, honestly, a lack of education-or maybe even a lack of interest in learning. Thanksgiving is going to be… interesting. I’m planning to keep things peaceful, but hear me out: if anyone disrespects my beliefs, I am 100% ready to pull out my phone and blast “Pink Pony Club.” For some reason, that song really gets under their skin-don’t ask me why-but hey, at least I’ll have something I actually enjoy singing along to! 🦄
She released a statement that said people made presumptions that don’t reflect who she voted for. It looks like she liked an RFK jr post about kids health after trump won. She also liked Kamalas post that she was the nominee. I think she didn’t bash trump cause she probably has family who voted for him. And really almost all Americans have a family member who voted for trump. I thought the apology was sincere.
Just a reminder, everyone’s reasons for who they voted for are rarely black and white-it’s all about the nuance. I’d encourage everyone to be kind, even when opinions differ. If you come across someone whose views don’t align with yours, remember that it’s okay to set boundaries and hold to your own standards. I’d love to hear your thoughts, but please keep it respectful, or (with peace and love) you’ll be blocked.
It's really disgusting that this school allowed this predator to be a spokesperson! Who does that!?!? There is something wrong with that school 🤮
It’s the fact that they diminished the situation to the parents for me.
