    It's pretty funny how Ouroboros is arguably the most nerfed card in Kaycee's mod, yet it is still in the highest tier. It really just shows how many leagues ahead it was in the base game.

      @@smileguy1187It used to carry over all the stat increases from one run to the next; if you got it to 10/10 in one run, the next run it will start at 10/10.
      In Kaycee's Mod, it always starts at 1/1, and the stat boosts are only permanent for the rest of the run.

      You guys are going to think Im crazy but I never played Ouroboros despite having played over 40 hours of the game lol. Most of the time I THOUGHT it was just a 1/1 with immortality, so a worse cockroack. Then I found out what it did but I guess never really found it much, or thought it was worth it still... BUT ONLY NOW I realized the boosted stats CARRY OVER to the next matches, even on the same run, that is freaking insane lol how is that even supposed to be fair.

      watched someone get screwed over cause his fledgling wolf got flight blocking from totem.
      maybe blocking a raven or vulture once could help win the game next turn though.
      leshy deciding to play kingfishers seem a bit irrelevant though, he could have put a wolf or rattler in that spot

    • @hieatus1039
      @hieatus1039 2 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Flying is good when you fight the Angler on 2nd phase since flyers won’t take baits. But if there’s a card that does more damage to you, flying may not help much.

    • @shaneguan2985
      @shaneguan2985 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yea I was also confused by why he said that, but after beating Kaycee's mod with all challenges enabled I think it's because Leshy doesn't have to consider sacrificing cards to play cards -- he just plays them. Board control is uber important for you because when you have board control you can play whatever you want via sacrifices. But Leshy doesn't need board control because he already plays what he wants, so flyers are really good for him since he can just attack you directly.

    It’s genuinely sad how few people use this “trick” considering it’s LITERALLY the first thing you do in the game. You play the stoat, then sac it for a wolf almost immediately. It is literally the tutorial, yet people lose runs because they refuse to do it

    • @The_Andromeda_Galaxy
      @The_Andromeda_Galaxy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      Yeah, it's because many people dont want to lose a card or sacrifice anything that has value. But thats the entire reason cards that cost three blood work outside of needing a specific deck. You draw a squirrel or two and sacrifice whats currently on the board to play them and have more power.(only when it'd make sense though). Stalling and then playing one in an open lane gives you an easy win, or you can just take out the biggest threat.

    Feels weird seeing opposum so much higher than amoeba. Like... realistically the amoeba is just an opposum with potential upside. I suppose there's potential downside with like... underwater? But there's a lot more decent to "meh" sigils then there are actively negative ones so i just don't think I can agree with that

    • @gamingtime9716
      @gamingtime9716 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      The issue is the opportunity cost. As a rare card, amoeba will only be offered alongside cards that are potentially runwinners. If you see cuckoo, mantis god, amoeba, amoeba's trash. If you see opossum, moose buck, and kingfisher, you're happy to take opossum.
      Comparing the cards side-by-side, I would say amoeba is a strict upgrade of opossum. But as the game is played, a winning deck is more often going to have an opossum than an amoeba.

    Any cards that have a movement sigil seems to be a lot more effective for Leshy since it can easily confuse newer players and frustrate experienced players if the cards happen to fall in a unique way. If Inscryption were to ever have a multiplayer mode (which is admittedly unlikely), I could see those cards having some kind of unique functionality. As it stands, any strategy using movement cards isn't as effective since Leshy's AI doesn't really apply any advanced strategy at all.

    I'd say ijiraq is still useful. You're benefiting greatly from anything that's 2 cost or lower, and if it replaces a 3 cost you still just get something better. Sure it has very rare and specific circumstances where it wouldn't be good but those are just outliers. >95% of the time you'll usually be playing and it'll give you either an early win or can completely turn around what looks like a lost. And thats just in general, for you specifically since you try not to get anything expensive it just becomes that much better.
    It needing a specific deck would imply it's trash unless you've set up for it, but it needs a specific deck for it to not be good.

    Another point against poison is the fact that it cant overkill so you'll often kill 1 monster only to have another kill the poisonous mob because stuff with poison has horrible stats, meanwhile if you had a card with like 3 damage then it might often kill mob in front of it and then sometimes even kill the thing in the back, so next turn you'll do damage directly to Leshy instead of wasting a turn on a random mob

    The pronghorn is generally bad, but against the trapper it suddenly becomes the best card. You can play it turn 1 with smoke and squirrel, and give it +1 or +2 attack flame and it clears out all the frogs and the traps, and whenever he plays a new creature (usually adders and wolves) it's always directly in front of the pronghorn which means it is guaranteed to move out of the way and kill whatever he played on the next turn. Even if you need the pelts you can just place a squirrel in front of each trap before it springs. On phase 2 you buy his front line and one shot him with all the cards you saved in your hand. Of course, you could just use good cards to win that fight but it's fun to find uses for weaker cards.

      If I had to guess based on my own experiences. insects are the best, with wolves second, serpents third, bones fourth, then antlers (I love you black goat just hate other deer types. And no its not just for the 3 blood, but also the extra bones on the ritual board.) I've actually built insects only decks before to combo with a totem sigil I found useful I know for a fact I'd never do that for antlers and bone types I've just never worked well with. Not as badly as the mana totem things but badly. But hey even if I have completed kaycee's mod and did a full challenge mark run to completion I can't consider myself a master, never been much good in many games. So I'm probably letting in a few biases based on some mechanics. So take this entire comment on a pinch of salt.

I have always just thought of it as lane 1, lane 2, Lane 3, Lane 4 or whatever from left to right, maybe it just makes sense in my head, but since you play the game so much I was wondering if that may be an easier way for you to address plays out loud.

    Its nice seeing a tier list not filled with a bunch of random choices and actually well thought out. I agree with pretty much everything here, the only thing id disagree with is that its a waste to flame the ringworm, the 2 flames can stack up really fast, one run i had horrible rng for cards getting basically nothing good, however i was able to flame the skunk to be 6dam 8hp making it unkillable. Being able to double each flame without worrying about rng can help you from relying on a good deck, instead of relying on 1 or 2 cards in your deck to finally get pulled, you can flame enough to make almost every card a turn 1 win, and if the survivors dont eat it you can now convert any squirrel into the same hp as a mole man or damage as a coyote for the cost of one flame space.

    Not so much disagreeing as much as just voicing my own thoughts, but I feel Cockroach is pretty underrated. Yes the stats are bad BUT the key distinction here is it's an Undying creature that plays for bones. If you manage to give a 1 blood creature a sigil such as Ant Swarmer or Field Mice's multiplying one, it enables you to fill all 4 lanes as early as turn 1. I've had runs where because of cockroach returning itself to my hand, I can amass all the bones to play it then sacrifice it to add another ant 3 times to get 16 damage on turn 1. Definitely not broken but it is a pretty good infinite combo enabler

    My hottest take is that KMod Ouroboros is merely okay. It can be a win condition, but you have to get it reasonably early in the run, then make a deck that can sacrifice loop it (or at least cycle it a couple times at the end of an overwhelming victory), then you have to actually draw it, and it's 2-sac which can be annoying to set up especially if you don't draw it immediately. Compare to a Mantis God with a single power buff, which is a 1-sac OTK. And lots of things become broken if you have an infinite.
    I'm not completely through the content, yet, so maybe it's more practical than I'm giving it credit for? But so far I'm having a ton of success with the Mantis God/Ring Worm/Ring Worm starter deck, and with that I find myself picking Ouroboros for the sigil more than anything. (Speaking of cards you did dirty, Ring Worm...)

    I feel like the pack rat is a little underrated. As this video pointed out, if you play items, you should be winning. Pack rats allow you to play free items at the cost of a randomized refill (it does suck to say get a bottle of bones while you have zero bone cards). This increases the probability of you surviving each encounter, without needing to do dedicated item stops to get items back. I guess I can see a couple reasons why it's not that great:
    1. Item stops give you more than one items back, so it's not that inefficient to use up all your items and pick up items from stops (that said if you are playing 2 item challenges the item stops are less great). Given that sometimes you are forced to stop at item stops anyway so maybe you are always going to be picking up some items back.
    2. Pack rat is random, so you are rolling a dice with the refill, and if you are going for consistency, the randomized item drop could screw you over if it doesn't give you what you want.
    I still find them to be more useful than trash tier though.

    I think I would argue in favor of the Wolverine's Sigil on the Dire Wolf. Not on the Dire Wolf Pup, *just the Dire Wolf*. And that's way too specific to be much help. But consider this:
    Turn 2: Squirrel -> Black Goat -> Dire Wolf. Wolf kills something, and then does 3 damage. This assumes your turn 1 went badly.
    Best-Case Turn 3: Wolf does 6 damage. This is 9 total from the previous turn, which is enough to win from losing.
    Worst-Case Turn 3: Leshy's back-line moves up, hits Dire Wolf. Dire Wolf almost definitely lives. Your turn, it attacks and kills whatever hit it. Now it does 4 damage.
    But this is such a crazy-specific example... like, you would literally have to build around this as your intended path to victory. And you could do almost anything else instead.

  • @TheGlenn8

    Cat is absolutely a good sigil. It enables some easy turn one wins if you have a 1 cost card with fecundancy. Or if you combine cat sigil with the goat sigil you can easily dump all your 3 cost cards. I also just like the cat sigil on any 1 blood cost card with attack just to allow for some super tempo, you effecitvely get to play cards without paying cards while still pushing damage.

      Cat only really shines with 2 blood cost cards. 0 cost cards, the cat is useless. 1 cost cards, you’re limited by board space, and 3 cost cards you’re limited by draw speed. The problem is you want a lot of 2 blood cards to take advantage of cat, but having 2 blood cards and not drawing cat is a death sentence.

    • @TheGlenn8
      @TheGlenn8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maicee7603 No not really. It's really just the sigil. Putting the sigil on a porcupine, or a skink, or a wolf, cub, or maybe a geck and it's good. It'll just be strong for tempo. That's all. Tempo is always strong, no matter the deck.
      The only "downside" to this could be that you might want the card you're sacrificing for into the spot of the card with the infinite sacrifice sigil. But I rarely encounter a scenario like that.
      It's certainly never a sigil I'd really not want on any of my cheap cards. I never think "oh man I wish my raven egg didn't have infinite sacrifice!"

  • @SYKRAL1
    @SYKRAL1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would have put cat in good sigel. Put that on anything that has attack and you aren’t blocking a lane. Plus, it’s literally an extra squirrel every turn. It essentially lowers the blood cost of every unit by 1. Any 1 blood costs you have can instantly get on the board. Best case scenario with this is to put the sigel on a flyer and play the flyer behind a rock or something. That way, it’s safe and it’s doing damage.

    I think the use of the sigil that grows stronger is underestimated here. Yes, your geck would die but im pretty sure a cockroach would keep the strength. And, if it was on an indirect attacker, you could just keep multiple lanes on lockdown easier.
    Using it strategically for a longer fight or on something that may get the extra bite it needs to finish a fight is more reliable sometimes than hoping to get the flame for attack, but all things are only reliable as they are available in this game to be fair.

    The Amoeba only costs 2 bones with 1|2 stats. It has a 50% chance of getting a good sigil on top of that. It's thus better than some of the things in usable, so it really shouldn't be in Trash. Also, an argument could be made for Dam to be a good sigil because the Dams can be sacrificed. So, you could make use of it in a sacrifice deck. It can facilitate a higher chance to one turn early on. Also, I would argue that the cat can be a good sigil as well in combination with certain Totem buffs, fusions or on certain units in specific decks. Like, you could put it on goat to spam out high cost monsters for an insta win. You could put it on a warren to get a 2 blood + 1 blood out which might result in a win. You could put it on Ant Queen to instantly be able to play the Ant you spawn. I really wouldn't say it's trash. It's just slightly specific.

    my most recent game i had a 6/6 rat, a normal 2/2 and two copies of the earlier version which were painted as 5/4 and 5/2 respectively. the sheer amount of games i won with my items alone, it's really insane once you give one of them the infinite lives sigil
    ps: nm this comment, in hard challenge modes it's impossible to reach the melding stations with too many pack rats and getting melds is highly luck dependent, too, since you cant get them in lvl 1 and it still remains rare
    pps: and even if you do, it's often easier anyway to meld quite literally any 3drop for much better stats. that said, i have to abuse the melds better in conjunction with the more common hybridization and even the cave event bc a card that's stitched together receives all abilities of the cards it was made from, making 6 abilities on one card possible

    I would place the Magpie in Good Sigils. I've drawn it at very unfortunate times (when I really need a 1 Cost or Bone card) and it's immensely frustrating. You're basically keeping around a liability stats and cost-wise just because it's got a good sigil, which means you're better off sacrificing it towards something better. Whenever I can, I transfer its sigil to ideally a no-cost card or at least a 1-cost card.

    The one thing I struggle with is the card deck tentacle, especially in Kaycee's Mod. In the beginning it's a two turn win most of the time. There are a lot of ways to make it easy to increase your hand size. All three boss fights up to Leshy are easy control fights, so it's a great card to prepare a second phase first turn win, also at challenge level 12. And there are a lot of sigil's that make it insane. I should say it's at least usable.
    What I maybe kind of miss, although I understand it's not the point of the list, is something along the lines of "can be really fun to use under the right circumstances". Even if those cirumstances are very specific. For example, combine two Snapping Turtles if one of them has the Wolverine sigil (maybe flame one of them first) and you get a 3/12 that increases damage with each kill. Yeah, you can say when will that ever happen, but if it does it's hilarious. It's fun to try and find very specific situations that result in great cards (totem can help there too obviously).

    I have a short tale on the alpha. When I started my run with the first starting deck and managed to use the 2 pelts to grab an alpha and a beaver. To I put leader on the beaver and managed with a 3/3 beaver cuz it got buffed with its own dams. In the same run I got a wolf with double strike and it was broken if I put the beaver down. Sac the beaver and something for the wolf and boom 5/2 wolf with double strike it was insane even against bait buckets

    Field mice should be easy win. Sure before you reach an alter it isn't that useful, although a 2 cost, 2-2 isn't completely useless. Then the 2nd you transfer it to any 1 cost card you have an easy win. Transfer it to any 0 cost card and you have an even easier easy win. In pretty much any deck it's an easy win.

    I would argue a better spot for elk fawn as even though it moves it's a 1 blood 2/4, which is pretty solid. Also I was always fairly satisfied when I got a skink but I did not realise the buffs carried over to the tail, that's definitely really strong! Also a bit surprised Ouroboros ranked so high, I thought it was more of a bait, unless you get it really early in your run.
