I have been a BHP enthusiast for 40+ years, and I have two of the P-35 type pistols, but I had to have one of the new FN's and I just took delivery of one on Thursday. Yes, it is different, but it retains similar lines and basic function of the original BHP. Though, it is a bit on the heavy side, I am very happy with it at this point. I am looking forward to getting it out to the range.

I like the gun. It is an improvement on its storied predecessor, but it does give up a few things for that improvement. This gun is closer to the 1911 in size than the P35. That's where the most obvious change is. Slightly larger gun weighing in at about 40oz. Increased durability and shootability in exchange for concealability. The only thing that really bothers me about the new gun is the swizzle stick. Why FN went with such an odd plastic guide rod is fairly inexplicable, especially considering how beefed up the rest of the gun is.

It will grow on you. It's hammer fired and all steel. That has to count for something, right?
