Looked at a Girsan plain jane and a Springfield SA-35 at two different LGS. The Girsan was noticeably heavier than the 1983 Browning HP I had. Handled the SA-35 at other shop and it felt like the same weight as I recall the HP. Both guns were empty. That really stumped me as to the cause.

I got their Beretta 92 clone, the Regard. They make some pimped ones but I preferred the bare bones style except for the accessory rail. Really premium quality except maybe the finish wears a bit easy.

There are some excellent companies coming out of there! I'm still iffy about their shotguns, unless they are imported by a big brand name.

I loved the Hi Power since I was 5. First 9mm handgun I was introduced to in this world from media and games. Mom bought a cap gun version for me when I was 8 and I knew what it was immediately. Held it and said to myself it will be my first pistol. It broke when I was 13 but I turned 21 this year and I got a SA35. I love my Hi Power and will carry it down to my some day children as a family heirloom. The Glock of your times indeed. First wonder 9.

Just bought a MCP35PI Match. Wish to God I would have found it before I bought my SA35 Springfield. Now I'm sell the Springfield. That Girsan is just as accurate and just as reliable as the SA35. But a hell of a lot cheaper. By about $150. It's my main CC next to my Taurus Tx22 compact.

    • @jimm7346
      @jimm7346 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

A little off topic, but in my experience a lot of ppl tend to knock Taurus (and I personally always thought their semi-autos were kinda ugly), but I have a G3 tactical and a TX22 now as well, and they both are incredibly accurate and fun pistols to shoot. The G3 tac has a pretty damn good (not great) re-fire trigger with an awesome reset.
That said... I finally got my hands on a GX4 XL today, and the copy-cat Canik combat trigger was disappointing...

The rare Argentinian Made FM Detective High Power is the Bee's Knees, Argentina, military got a license and machinery from FN Browning to make their own military Hi Powers, and they were the first ever to shorten the High Power. The FM Detective was imported starting in 1991 for a few years. They are fairly rare and coveted. I have one and have put over 20 thousand rounds thru it. I Never had a single malfunction, and it devoured any ammo i fed it. I recently bought another brand new never fired one. After about 500 rounds of break in i will use it for CCW and use the other for a range gun. If you ever have the chance to get one don't miss out. They pop up on GB a few times a year.

Looks like this model does NOT have a magazine-disconnect safety, which I think is a major improvement, and helps make for a better trigger action.

Weird how the British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand SAS, FBI HRT, etc all chose to retain that magazine disconnect. Ditto for pretty much every military that issued the pistol.
Wonder what those guys didn't learn fighting in wars and hunting down terrorists that our home grown American kitchen table gunsmiths knew.

I don't like so much fiber optic front sight that come in stock. They tend to break pretty quick. But the gun look excellent

Nice gun. As far as the flat wire spring I'm not sure about. I bought a sig p320 and the first time I shot it the spring came out of the front of my gun. After examining the problem. I realized that under high pressure the flat wire spring leaned enough to escape the front of the pistol. Man was I pissed off when that happened.

I don't know which one but I saw a Wilson Combat video on the 1911 where they said flat recoil springs were more durable than round wire. From my mechanic background I would say that is true. A flat wire spring will not bind as easily as a round wire spring when you reach the limit of compression.

Very nice features to update the high power.
The modern/futuristic colorway on the finish is a great looker.
    Very impressive.

I bought one. My dad carried a hp for 40 years and I have his after he passed. I get bit when shooting it so I purchased the exact gun in this video. I really like it, but I have a couple of small complaints. The guide rod is a pain in the ass to get back in. I have big hands, and the grip on the left side gets in the way of flipping the safety up. I fixed that with my Dremel. And the barrel being so hi pollished it's over kill. I plan on using some emery cloth to knock it down some. Other than what was stated on the rear sight, it's a great gun. Wish it would of been made again sooner. I know that the Argentine hp model was close. I think it was called the detective model.

Amazing how DIFFERENT a pistol's report sounds, based, I suppose, on the "range" environment, the microphones and the ammo used, among other factors.

Dude I have a Arcus 94 I replaced all the springs and added BH Spring Solution safety first system which is a safety that’s like a reverse de cocker anyways this gun you reviewed is the best bang for the buck right now like a compact 2011

Nice beavertail. I may be wrong but even the Gen 3 from FN and the new Springfield clone didn't have that 1911 type beavertail. I dated a gal that had an original FN Hi Power in her night stand...she had no idea what it was, just how to shoot it. She was prior military as well as her dad, uncle, etc.
I love the original but the hammer bite sans beavertail...
