fav is doom' gate for doom 1993
You know you're a metal guitar player when you have to break out a 7 string to play in E standard.
You mispelled djenti boi.
drop d too
Lmao my life story. My students have to put up with me teaching them on a 7 string… “No, no, that’s your A string not D.”
@@alexraykinofficialI’m currently teaching with a 8 string 😂😂
Waiting for Mick's comment on this masterpiece
Who?
@@Bedroomrips ....the guy that made the soundtrack (for 2016 and eternal)
@@Abasedbymygrief thanks man I don’t know much on doom games. Was assuming he was talking about mick Thompson for some reason lol
@@Bedroomrips ah lol
@@Bedroomrips Tbh some of the first doom riffs sound like something Mick would play
We went from Drop D to Drop Doom.
Drop Coom
@@Wind-nj5xz Coom Eternal
@@Ismael-kc3ry☠
In Mick Gordon we trust ❤️
GLORYHAMMER reference ?
Andrew Hulshult and David Levy too.
@@Geassguy360 David Levy's work could use a bit of improvement, but it's decent.
@@williams8977 Out of all the DLC tracks, I always seem to enjoy Levy’s work more then Hulshult’s. Tracks like Immora and the Trial of Maligog always stand out to me.
@@Geassguy360 they need improvement. Not on Micks level
Blood Swamps makes me wanna toast all the bread and put it back in the bag
Woah bro relax, that's too far
Damn you are off the rails son
You are off your rocker my guy
woah there thats a bit too metal
Ok Imma call 911 right now
Doom in the 90s: “Thrash Metal is c00L!”
Doom in the 2010s: *CRONCHY*
90s doom is awesome but honestly I prefer the newer soundtrack
@@realiascailt 90s doom soundtrack is nice but im into slayer and pantera
Doom 1-2: Metallica, Pantera, Slayer
Doom 3: Tool
Doom 2016-Eternal: Meshuggah, Fear Factory, Slipknot, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, After The Burial, Wage War
thought the same thing esp. with doom 3 being HEAVILY inspired by tool since it came out between Lateralus and 10,000 days
man, what does slipknot, korn and all those bands have to do with 2016 and eternal... 2016 and Eternal are pure Djent/Industrial MAYBE deathcore, no nu metal at all
@@AtanoKSi rip and tear? the only thing they fear is you?
@@AtanoKSi even cultist base riff is taken from a korn song
@@astickman7054 people just have to shit on nu metal and can't fathom associating the genre with something they like, always been like that lmao
Nice mousepad!
Bewbz
@@massaj88 I thought that's a butt
Ahhahah
I need a mousepad so maybe I'll get one if those probably not but it'll be funny.
Andrew do be kinda sus tho
So DOOM's music went from Thrash Metal to Djent.
Decent change.
Lol it's always stayed tasty tho
Changing with the era
As Meshuggah did actually (for real)
from fast 0's to slow 0's
dont forget when they went full tool for doom 3 lmao
that 13 year gap between 2003 and 2016 is insane. Its crazy how mick gordon kept the original scores vibe alive while completely revinventing the asthetic. Incorporating djent and shit. So sick
Fun fact, E3M1 is literally just mouth for war by pantera
E1M1 is basically Master of Puppets
@@grymxmedia2366 E1M1 is more so Hooked by D.R.I.
Demons dead is basically just after all the dead by Black Sabbath
@@connordrysdale5333 Also No Remorse
E2M1 is just Big Gun by ACDC
I see that mousepad
Ur a double cultured man
Rip & Tear until it is done 🤙🤘
The Doom 3 Theme went entirely too hard as it always does
That one could lowkey be a tool song and I wouldn’t be phased
@@ggaarreenn Agreed
@@ggaarreenn its very close to lateralus, but I cant speak for the band on why its so close
@@TrashRat45 Lool it's true. Sounds like lateralus from Tool
@@TrashRat45it's the way the harmonic rhythm is timed. Listen to the first distorted riff in Lateralus, then the Doom 3 theme. It's not too close, but close enough to draw the ear
So happy you gave the other games some love, even Doom 3's incredible main theme. That Tool like riff still gets me
As the game got more brutal so did the music.
Just realized that you're the dude that I put on my gym playlist haha. What a small world. Amazing work bud
DOOM 1993: Hahaha killing demons is fun
DOOM 2016/DOOM Internal: WHERE THE FUCK ARE THE DEMONS I WILL RIP AND TEAR THROUGH THEM ALL
Thanks to that one doom comic
"Doom Internal"
@@pomax1464 TAG from Internguy's perspective
1993 Doom: No Remorse but full scale
2016 Doom: *DEATH*
The deeper the riffs..
the deeper you descend into hell...
Doom, 1993: Hey let's make this cool riff!
Doom, 2020: Remember that riff we did ages ago? yeah just tune lower. people'll buy it.
Doom, 1993: "Let's rip-off popular bands."
Doom, 2016: *I'll fuckin' do it again.*
Don’t need to change perfection
More like: Doom 2020: Make it as brutal as physically possible
You act like it’s a bad thing...
Lol, as if what Mick did was just tuning down originals...
1:44 When that cold brew hits
Doom 2016 has probably the best soundtrack out of all the games I’ve played
Try eternal... you'll love it
@@RAAFLightning1 but in 2016, in my opinion, music is better. Maybe because the mixing was rushed for Eternal, so it is a bit off
@@херзнаетгражданинЕбеньграда yes, i get the mixing, but the atmosphere mixes with the music so well
@@RAAFLightning1 220 hrs in 2016, almost 300 hrs in eternal, i get the atmosphere, but just soundtrack without gameplay is better in 2016
im a simple man. i hear doom music, i hit like. great vid bro.
Andrew playing in E standard? Blasphemy
Edit: Holy fuck this blew up
Thx for the likes and replies everyone! 😊
Had to play it on a 7 string tho since I don't own any E Standard guitars haha
@@BaenaCarcosa now that's just next level dj0nt
Not owning E std guitars
@@BaenaCarcosa r u ok man? 😂
@@philipmaclean1560 would need different strings and truss rod adjustment
@@Gavinn07 Tension on his guitars I'd imagine are for lower tunings, since that's most of what he plays. So if he tunes up to standard, he'd have to fix the guitar to be stable in the tuning
3:20 that is literaly mouth for war by pantera
Rip & tear track (not the one released on the OST album but the full track) is easily the hardest, angriest track written by anyone ever.
I wouldn’t say the angriest track ever made, Machine Head, Slipknot, and a lot of the early Swedish Death Metal bands of the 90s have made much angrier tracks
It's a good song, but definetly not the one of the heaviest tracks ever
Tbf the original is way deeper and meaner than this cover
@@jorge0358 eh they're up there but I wouldn't say angrier than Rip And Tear, although I also wouldn't say that's THE angriest because it starts to reach a point of subjectivity
Angriest song is definitely subjective but I would say that Heavy Is The Head by Loathe is angrier
We're not just ripping off metal bands, we swear!! -ID Software in the 90s
Bobby Prince you sly dog
That first riff in E standard sounds SO much like Master of Puppets. Great video man! Didn't know you could play in standard tuning :P
Turns out its No Remorse
if you guys notice before doom 3 all the riffs were upturned and after the turning point, the whole game has extremely aggressive riffs and sounds more futuristic.
Kitchen Ace is one of my all-time favorites, and they way it’s incorporated into Transistor Fist is just perfect.
Am I the only one that is thinking of Civvie 11's Doom videos when I listen to this?
The first riff makes me think to the master of puppet 's riff
How low do you think you want your tone to be?
Mick Gordon : Yes.
Damn the first doom just ripped off every popular metal band from the 80s and 90s lmao
You can master of puppets in the first two riffs
@@notoriusdrifter40 Hooked by D.R.I. for E1M1 and Big Gun by AC/DC for E2M1
they were self aware about that lmao
Rise By Pantera - Kitchen Ace
Mouth for War by Pantera - E3M1
@@connordrysdale5333 Behind the Crooked Cross - E3M3

Hey, thanks for including the Doom 3 Theme, I've always been fond of that easily-overlooked lil' thang
I basically sat on your Blood Swamps video for about an hour trying to figure out a way for playing it on my 6 string. Here's hoping that Mick Gordon may one day return to his playground.
I'll never forget that time when I used to stay at the main menu in Doom 3 just to listen its theme by Tweaker.
Should have added Creatures Of Nekravol too, so you would have full range of guitar tunings, from E Standard to Double Drop B
This is actually one of the few vids I can argue andy didn't have his guitars loud enough
I grew up playing the original doom games when it ran in dos, I'm always going to find these old original's to be the best
Mastermind from doom 2016 about my favourite doom song rip and tear is a close second
My favorite has to be Metal Hell from Doom Eternal.
I love the new stuff, but the old got a special place in my heart that can never be replaced, DooM has definitely influenced my music taste.
My favorite Doom riffs are from e1m1 (at doom's gate) 1993, doom 3 theme song, at doom's gate 2016, super gore nest, the only thing they fear is you, bfg division, metal hell, rip & tear, blood swamps, bfg-10k and uac atlantica.
Can’t forget about cultist base
Damn dude, spot on job matching those classic midi tones, actually really sounds like them, probably better than any cover I've heard so far.
Here's how it sounds...
Guitar workshop ad opens up.
Nice, i was just playing Doom Eternal
I love the doom 3 theme and the total influence I hear in it. Favorite is still the only thing they fear...
*pointing at the doom 3 leitmotifs* The Only Thing They Hear Is You.
Did anyone notice his mousepad?
This was such a sick one!
My favourites are: BFG 10K, The Only Thing They Fear is You & I Sawed The Demons. Thanks for the video!
Why does literally everyone ever miss the diminished interval in the E1m1 riff???
I don’t.
Oh god, my favourite were Doom 3 Theme song and then At doom's Gate
So metal, so dissonant, so nostalgic. These are the melodies that still run through my head, first learned in a midi format 30 years ago...
The pedal does everything
Damn, I was definitely expecting meathook. That’s a great one.
I'm a little disappointed that you didn't include Meathook in this; that's probably my favorite Doom riff!
The only thing that slaps harder than these riffs is that dope mousepad my dude! But great video and show of skills as well.
recently bought this game cos my lil bro got me a 20 euro steam voucher...the exact same crhstmas i bought an 8 string. absolutely love this game the visuals are amazing, the gameplay combines puzzle solving, parkour and fast ass fps mechanics, but the ost. omg the ost...
Excellent Video!
Now every time I think about the music of Doom, I think of that one article of a guy reviewing Doom 2016. In the review, he was saying the music wasn't as great as he thought it would be. But it's based upon how well you preform in the game, lol.
E1m1, rip and tear, bfg division, the only fear is you are my favorite doom songs
E3M1
I played Doom 1 and 2 as a kid before I got into metal and my favorite thing has been slowly discovering all the original songs those Doom songs were based off. Also finding bands that reference them like the interlude in Asche zu Asche by Rammstein haha they also have random samples through Wollt Ihr Das Bett in Flammen Sehen.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
That Blood Swamps groovy herta riff is probably my favorite, but Super Gore Nest is also a good choice.
My favorite is....all of them. But the heavier ones of the new games definitely hit a certain spot.
the doom 3 theme is still my fav
Andrew is so metal that he doesn't even own a 6 string.
Holy fucking shit did that ever kick ass.
Yo back in ‘95 when I got a PS1 I played DOOM and Final DOOM for months. Fuck I’m old.
Love your shit.
Awesome dude
Classic riffs man.. 👍🏻
I am starting to think that this man is allergic to 6 string guitars
From your typical heavy all the way down to BASS
Awesome!!
Doom 1-2 - Metallica/Pantera
Doom 3 - Tool
Doom 2016 - Meshuggah/Slipknot
Eternal - Monuments
the finger tap bit in e1m1 always gives me chills.
AMAZING
my favorite is the only thing they fear is you.
Would be great if you could do a riff comp of all the songs from the call of duty games ! ( Elena Siegman for preference :) )
Man I miss those old Elena Siegman / Kevin Sherwood tracks dude
@@tylerperry4318 for me as well, as a french guy these were the first real down tuning songs ive heard ( djent music and down tuning weren't that popular back then )
@@Valou_56 I’m not French but I come from a very small town (like total population of 400 people) in the Deep South United States so you can imagine how unpopular that style of music was for my area. I was already into metal when I heard those songs but it was stuff like Pantera and Metallica and Avenged Sevenfold. Hearing those tracks totally changed my trajectory with low tuned music. Even used 115 for a high school project back in the day because I was So EdGy BrO much to everyone else’s dismay 😂
@@tylerperry4318 haha for a school project what a blast 👍👍
Kevin sherwood is one of my favorite artists ever
You should pull an Andrew Hulshult and cover the soundtrack of each game! I’d love to replay classic Doom with your covers!
I swear to god the first two sound so much last Master of Puppets I refuse to believe they were not inspired by it
they were
It wasn't just inspired by it. A lot of the early Doom music is full of riffs ripped straight from popular metal from the time.
"Every Doom game", except 64.
Okay, so after playing TAG2. That DOOM 64 riff in The World Spear is pretty boss, Davoth as well.
Facing the spider, too. Also the widdly widdly parts of e1m1. One day before i die i want to execute those moves
Oh man you go as hard as mick and Pantera. You're incredible.
My favorite is Meathook, unfortunate you didn't do it, but I know you can't get them all, good job.
UAC Atlantica's the best for me now, always shows up in yt music, haha
Your the best Andrew love your videos
That double drop Eb (d#) sounds nasty.
Love the mousepad
AB is so metal that he still uses a 7 string to play a standard E riff lmao
My favorite is the Doom Eternal Main menu which is remastered (?) version of the original Song which is associated with icon of sin.
Also e3m1. I used to play on snes. Id play on nightmare and just rise up from the platform and just go. So brutal lol
DOOM 3: *EVER HEARD OF THIS LIL BAND CALLED TOOL?*
Awesome work dude!!!!
that's real dedication. Amazing!
Awesome work my dude! 🤙🏼
I actually find that muting the 12th fret harmonic is best for the weird triple clink sound in E3M1
Awesome, badass
