You can see the distance in Helen’s eyes when she talks about “mum”. Doreen had too many children. I feel sorry for all of them…. I wonder if all the 10 children are still in contact…
Agreed. And no one should say a single bad word about Doreen because none of us know what she went through. I have my theory, but it doesn’t matter. All that matters in life is NOW. The past is gone, the future isn’t guaranteed, and the present is the greatest gift of all. If there were ever a lesson in grace on this show, it’s this story. God bless them.
Even if you forgive the parent for all the pain and heartbreak their actions caused you, it could be hard to build a new relationship as an adult with someone who really didn't raise you.
If I were Helen I would be on no contact with Doreen. Imagine your first real memory being left by your parents. I wonder if some of the siblings had the luck to be adopted.
I admire the young parents, they are responsible, strict and loving. The little girl is spotless, hair done, clean clothes. Being young does not mean you can’t be responsible loving parents. And they have lots of family! 😊
She hangs up on her 13 year old, her little one say's, "Bye" (something I say when someone hangs up on someone else) and then she curtly tells her precious little one that it's not her place to say, "Bye." The little girl was just correcting her mother's poor behavior. Children deserve grown parents.

It is scary to think that two children, just become teens are reproducing but thankfully these two seemed to have become responsible parents and despite their youth there have been blessings and escapes from gangs and drugs etc. Then you have the older woman who had ten children and put them in Bernados because she couldn't cope. There are different ways of being a responsible and loving parent. Sometimes, admitting that you can't cope is the most responsible thing you can do. I can't imagine the pain of making that choice, though.
Ten kids, probable poverty, an unhappy and possibly abusive marriage, possible postpartum depression or even postpartum psychosis, and almost certain chronic exhaustion: this would be enough to push any woman off the rails. A more enlightened and caring society would not have let this happen.
