Thank you for mentioning house cleaning. They see the aftermath, and are essential to the patient’s care. I have had 22 surgeries, and had a patient care technician who worked harder than anyone else on my team. They need more recognition as well!! I was also a 911 dispatcher for 24 years, and am now retired. My respect to those who are still behind the mic, as I could no longer do my former job.
I agree with Daniel, Laura. Hope you are doing well. I came in to the comments to also say that it was outstanding that the woman called kudos on house cleaning. Environmental services (housekeeping) is the MOST IMPORTANT job in our hospitals, clinics and nursing homes. I have ALWAYS known this and used to praise all the people performing this most valuable service. God bless you all🙏
@Sapientia lmao r U serious. The healthcare is so expensive in America because the hospital and insurance is allowed to take such a high profit. It has nothing to do with how much money the healthcare workers are earning.
@Alex B what about the Dr's? They're the reason I got 2 major staph infections and almost died. They're the ones who damaged my pancreas and now I have severe type 2 diabetes and liver issues. They're the ones who can't figure out why my body still produces excess stones even though I don't have gall bladder. So, what about the drs?
that’s straight up horseshit, these are people that are paid to do a job, that’s all it is a job. same with cops and firefighters, they’re well paid to do a dangerous job they’re not heroes. our heroes are in our military
Hmmm...there are a lot of egos flying around in the medical profession. Some are healthy egos and some are just people in it for the money and notoriety. I know. I was there. Just like with any other place in life, there are good apples and bad apples. EXCEPT IN THIS SITUATION, THE BAD APPLES PUT THEMSELVES BEFORE THE PATIENT. Any statement saying "all" or "none" is wrong.
Mitch (the 25 yr old who bailed off his motorcycle) just made a great PSA! Seeing the range of emotions play across his face, the sincerity as he said, “Wear a helmet.” made a bigger impression on me than any picture of an accident scene.
Do you ride? I can personally attest to the vital importance of wearing a helmet when motorcycling, scootering or bicycling. A traumatic brain injury is something 99% of them never recover from. They can be like infants in an adult body, but much much worse. It’s like a living hell for both victim and caregiver.
I worked in the ER...and OR. I know how quickly a patient can go from talking to coding in seconds. It takes EVERYONE working together to get through it. God Bless ALL of you Abundantly 🙏
I as well; vol ff/ems x 20, er tech, ER RN, PACU, Hospice, OR on nights x last 21 years, trying to excel at retirement now. A lot has changed, lots unfortunately has not, But, it’s the compassion of those involved/boots on the ground. May God richly bless each and everyone still there! Still waiting … Thanks for making a great video!
I’m so grateful that we have a Level 1 Trauma Center right in the city where we live. I worked there years ago in my 20’s + and learned so much. Thank God these people and places exist because you never know when you may need them!
My dad received care from the UMC trauma team. He was life flighted up from a different hospital. Be the time we got there, about an hour, they had every specialist he needed ready to talk to us and answer any questions. The knowledge, professionalism and compassion they have is amazing!! Because of my dad’s injuries and the delay in treatment, he didn’t make it, but the team was great. The ICU staff were also awesome! I’m very grateful we have the trauma center in Tucson, but it would be really nice if we had one closer to my area. I think more lives are lost because it takes over an hour to get to the trauma center.
I had a motorcycle wreck in 2020. A lady pulled out in front of me and I went flying over her car and landed hard in the pavement. I had 5 broken ribs, punctured lung, hematoma on my live, and a concussion. They had to life flight me to the hospital. I went straight to the trauma unit. My lungs were collapsing because of punctured lung. It was scary because I couldn't get my breath and felt like I was going to die. If you're bashful when it comes to being naked in front of people then you'll forget all about it. They cut all of my clothes off. Everyone in the trauma unit was fantastic. They worked with each other like a well oiled machine. University of Tennessee is the best hospital where I live if your hurt in an accident or anything for you have to be taken there. I stayed on the trauma unit for 6 days and everyone was great ❤️🙏
I lost my very best friend and his wife just exactly like this. It threw his wife 50 ft away. Corner said she died as soon as she hit the ground. His leg was almost cut off he crawled to the ditch and asked the one who stopped for his wife and died. The one that stopped was Her brother. And he didn't even know at first his sister was on the Motorcycle.
So glad you recovered! I also ride, it’s in my blood, and I wear full protective gear; full face helmet with shield, long pants, steel toed boots, leather or denim jacket and padded leather gloves. And I always ride conservatively and Defensively! God bless.
Thank you for all of the fantastic work you all do. I have been in a trauma centre and I was so glad to be there. I got crushed between a fork lift and a machine. This is in Australia. But the great work goes worldwide. God bless you guys you’re so appreciated and awesome.
Thank God I survived the car wreck I was in. I was the worst victim, happened while we were skipping school one day, a woman was not looking and ran a red light…I only know what happened because of other people’s memories. Thank you God for saving my life and for the trauma centers like these that help do the same for others
I worked in a Level I trauma ICU in Albuquerque for a little over 5 years. It was not an easy place to work, but I’m glad, in retrospect, that I did it.
I had the honor of being a psych crisis clinician for several years in a big, busy level 2 trauma ER. The doctors, nurses, techs, RT, imaging--amazing people.
I was a Unit Secretary there in the ER at UAMC from 2005-6 to 2011! The ER staff is just like your second family. We all worked well together and it is most definitely a patient-centered environment there. In 2009 I crashed my motorcycle (without helmet) and ended up a Trauma Green there. Because I knew everyone there, THAT WAS THE ONLY PLACE I wanted to go. I knew I would be taken care from a dedicated, compassionate, experienced team, my second family. I count them as the reason I was able to walk out of there on my own 6 hours after I arrived. I think about them and miss them a lot.
I worked as a UC/ER Tech in Ohio. You’re absolutely correct in your description. I’ve been gone from there for several years but still remain close with all of them.
Dr. Peter Rhee wrote a book, “Trauma Red”, about his work as a trauma surgeon both in the civilian world and in the Navy. It’s an excellent book, although veterans with PTSD (like me) might want to take it in tiny chunks, if at all.
I was an X-ray tech in a Level 1 trauma for over 20 years. When I thought I had seen everything something new would come in. You have to be prepared for anything, but so does the rest of the team and it is a team. While ER & trauma doctors can be rough on you, (but not as bad as the OR doctors), but its because they expect perfection since a life may depend on it. I retired 15 years ago because of my own medical problems and I still miss it every day, but a new generation of techs have taken up the torch. Today they have education requirements and especially technology that we could never have dreamed of and every day emergency medicine gets better and your chances go up.
22:14 "Hey Mitch! How you're doing buddy?" - "I'm alive" - "Alright, well, I'm Dr. Tang" Gotta love those little comedic situations amongst all that seriousness.
Trauma centers are NECESSARY in every city. People who have been in a serious accident need fast intensive care by thoroughly trained specialists. Immediately, if not sooner. Lives are saved.
THANK U FOR ALL THAT U ALL DO ON A DAILY. GOD BLESS OUR TRAUMA TEAMS ALL OVER THIS WORLD. CONTINUE DOING WHAT U DO BECAUSE GOD KNOWS WE ALL NEED U.💜💜💜💜🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
My ex husband was in a really bad car accident. Luckily there was an ER nurse there who was able to relay the urgent situation to the 911 operator. Had this accident not been so close to the hospital, I imagine he would have been life flighted to the sane hospital. The ER chaplain called me at work & told me my (ex now but married then) husband had been in an accident & had a compound fracture & other injuries & I needed to get to Mercy San Juan hospital ASAP. I knew that she wasn't calling me because of just a broken leg, ir was definitely more serious. I was so scared a coworker drove me to the hospital & my mom drove there too. Turns out my ex was really injured & after surgery the trauma surgeon gave my ex a 50% chance of survival. My ex ended up spending 3 weeks in the trauma ward and his care was so extensive that the bill was $300,000 plus. I thank the nurse who stopped & contacted 911, the Sac Metro Fire Dept, the ambulance staff & the hospital staff & surgeons who saved his life.
Wow $300 000 plus ! That is so expensive and how does one afford a bill like that...thank goodness I live in Australia where we have Medicare system for those like me who can't afford private health insurance. I suffered quite a serious brain bleed that resulted in me having a craniotomy..at first I thought I was having a stroke bc I lost feeling down one side of my body, my face had dropped,my speech was slurred plus some other symptoms and it wasn't until I was rushed in for tests it was a bleed which is why I was having focal seizures etc ...my surgery plus ICU and then on ward for about two weeks cost me nothing because of our medicare system . The doctors and nurses saved my life I am so grateful and very lucky to have received the care and support that I had with my team they absolutely wonderful with me and I can't thank them enough for what they did....and they certainly don't get enough recognition and praise for what they do
@@sharont2878 I’m very sorry about you having had a brain bleed but I’m very happy you are ok now! The medical bills were mostly covered by the health insurance I had for both of us, through my employer. We had some copays & deductibles but some of that was covered by the injury part of our auto insurance. I think we had to pay about $2,000 ourselves. I also made a typo, the actual cost of three weeks in the trauma IC plus speech, occupational and physical therapy by four different groups. The actual amount of everything was $500,000.00 & although our health insurance paid a very significant amount of that, my (now ex) husband was underinsured for awhile & my health insurance provider sued us to recoup the money they paid for his care. In America, if you are injured & have health insurance, and sue the person or people responsible & receive a settlement, your health insurer can sue you to recoup the money they spent on your care. In our case our county was supposed to make changes to the area of roadway where the accident was because there were a very significant amount of auto accidents there, they had set aside funds decades ago but never did the corrective work Because the insurer didn’t hire an attorney to go after the county, our lawyer was able to negotiate down the amount of money the insurer took from our settlement. The lawyer made out better than we did which is really disgusting.
Wow….we just seem to forget that day in and day out there are people who save lives like this. All this craziness then still have to go home to they’re normal lives. What the lady said about driving 20 to get home to unwind is exactly what I use to do. God bless
I was in a motorcycle accident got cut off and ended up in the back of a truck. Went to a level 1 trauma center. HCA orange park. Was a Great trauma team. I worked in the army as a x-ray tech at MAMC. I got out and went back to school to get registered as a RT. I got into the accident wearing a helmet and scrubs. Broke the front of my pelvis and it split in the center called an open book injury. I also broke my sacrum right where the nerves run though. In a wheelchair for a while, happened a month ago and I’m still in the chair but I should get out of it eventually and make a full recovery.
@@Nortongroove I’m better now, everything works and no major lasting issues. Some weird nerve stuff but nothing important. I’ll be getting another bike in a year or 2 when my finances support it. 3 months out of work fucked me up worse then the crash tbh.
Having resided in Southern Arizona, care can be far and few between. Plus showing students the results and one seemingly innocent decision can be devastating. Reading about it and seeing it in front of you often makes a better impact. I think students should also tour Trauma Centers and speak to those who have been treated there regardless of location across the country.
How right you are….But these were made for the telly, so I’m sure in some scenes they brought in other disciplines to show who and what it takes to get the patient’s outcome. Some scenes are probably filmed much later on, like they don’t bring pt’s back to the trauma room to be discharged home ! I worked ICU and ED for 34 yrs (RN) and On the whole think these are very well done .
I lost my very best friend and his wife Because of a motorcycle accident . A woman pulled out in front of them and they couldn't stop and we're going pretty fast. . It threw his wife 50 ft away. Coroner said she died as soon as she hit the ground. His leg was almost cut off he crawled to the ditch and asked the one who stopped for his wife and died. The one that stopped was Her brother. And he didn't even know at first his sister was on the Motorcycle. You can still see the marking from the accident on the road. It was so awful. I will never forget it.
This was an absolutely outstanding presentation...thank you for taking the time to post it... Here's to the entire orchestra of Level 1 providers...You have my gratitude and respect...🙏
Thank you to all of the medical personnel for dedicating their lives caring for others. For giving up sleep to ensure that others live another day, the hours studying and enduring grueling hours to preserve the life that sometimes we take for granted. Gos bless you all for the sacrifices you selflessly do. ❤❤
I'm very proud of the doctors, nurses, EMTs' for doing the impressive job they do all while putting up with abusive behavior from patients and families. Without these unsung heroes, who'd be here to take care of all the critically ill and injured patients?
Holy shit US Navy Peter Rhee!? ❤ God bless our Emergency Services ❤ I always preach what the person with the top comment said. *THESE* are the Real Heroes... Not embarrassingly over payed sports athletes and politicians...
I received trauma center treatment and remember most of it. I will never forget the professional, organized, expertise and passionate care from the paramedics, firefighters, nurses, respiratory therapists, X-ray/CT technicians, phlebotomists,ER and trauma MD’s/Surgeons and police officers ❤
In 2017 I was in a head on collision smack dab between a level 1 trauma and a level 4 trauma center. These two hospitals are like maybe 2 vlocks from each other. I sustained a compound fracture to the right ankle. I didnt even realize my foot was turned sideways, skin ripped open and bones sticking out of the tear until I went to stand up. They took me to the level 1 trauma center and was in surgery within an hour maybe a little less from the time of the wreck. I woke up with titanium and surgical steel drilled into several bones and bolted together on the outside of my foot and leg. The surgeon said its a very common injury driveres sustain in head on collisions. Its due to your foot rolling off the brake petal and slamming into the floor board from the force of impact. I will never be able to thank everyone from first responders, EMT's, nurses, dr.s and surgeons for everything they did to save my life and my foot.
Yeah--it's expensive, and not everyone can afford private insurance. That's why the solution is called 'single payer healthcare,' provided to citizens at no cost by the government at large. Like in so many other first-world civilized countries!
Trauma centers are second between life and death they are a special breed of people that are able to work underneath that terrible pressure to know that life can be there a second and gone in a second I believe that these individuals are angels among us and I am so glad that they are there for us I hope that I never ever have a love one there for myself I have always told my sons to let me go and know that I love you and I will and meet them at the gate when it is there time to come home please understand for some of us it is easy to choose to stay or to go and know that they are in a better place I take my hat off and say bravo to the team that must stand the line 24 hours a day always there to step forward and fight tooth and nail and no also when it is time to say goodbye I take my hat off to the blue liners the fire department and all that you step in the line to save our lives thank you for your service and also being a blue line your mom I say thank you to my son for the service and dedication that he gives to our community seven days a week 24 hours a day as these people must do they are never on vacation they are never eight hours and then off they are always there
Someone needed to show this to the people who decided to close one of only two LEVEL ONE trauma centers in Atlanta. Grady Hospital is now the Metro Atlanta area's ONLY level-one trauma center! God forbid we have a disaster of any kind. Grady is going to be inundated even more so than they already were. Doctors are going to leave. Nurses are going to leave. Techs are going to leave. Who could blame them? Shameful.
They only close because they don’t get enough funding. The combination of the hospital absorbing costs for people who can’t pay and the low insurance payouts.
Very good out look on the Trama world , yes it is there waiting and we never want to see it . God bless the folks that choose and support these medical functions.
In 97 i had a super bad crash on the racetrack. I was taken to a trauma center. I didnt know we had one in Iowa because we have a university hospital and also a Mayo.
In 1979-1980 I worked in a dedicated Accident Hospital, in the UK Birmingham England This must have been one of the first hospitals of its type, specialising in all accidents, including burns, it had a 6 bedded Major injuries If the trauma was deemed severe, critical the patient bypassed the Accident dept and went into the major injuries admission area . There was also adjacent to this area a Major injuries ITU unit (no medical or general surgery adissions to this hospital ) The hospital played an important role in the Birmingham Pub Bombings as most of the staff were at a hospital function in the city and all were easily contactable, whilst this emergency was going on someone had the sense to set up a video recorder in the emergency area, they also utilised the outpatients area next to the emergency dept. This hospital has now been demolished but was good in its time
Was that Birmingham’s old accident hospital ? I ask as I’m from there and broke my ankle at 11 and 15 years old I was treated there !! Im 64 now 😀 all mended.
I was in the icu for 9 days on life support durring a 16 day hospital Stay after a doctor ignored a kidney stone diagnosis as cause of infection. And never noticed the patient they were overloading with fluids that they then started to treat with Lasix had zero urine out put Put me in septic shock and in multiple Organ failure. When I had nothing wrong with Mt heart or lungs when admitted to hospital
That's Dr. Rhee!!! He did major abdominal surgery on me in 2008. I started having abdominal cramps at 10:30PM. I foolishly got up for work and started driving the 30 miles from Green Valley, Arizona, to Tucson, Arizona. I went to my doctor's office, who immediately called an ambulance. Spent 3 days before the head of the Trauma Unit B said he was going to discharge me without surgery. I asked to speak to his boss, who turned out to be Dr. Rhee. While I'm finishing giving my medical history, when he CASUALLY leans towards me, grabs my NG 😅 Gastric) tube, and RIPS the tube out of my nose. Then he goes, "We'll do the surgery." I'm sitting there with my mouth wide open. The surgery was done in September 2008. Dr. Rhee did it himself within 3 hours of talking to me. He's an awesome, talented doctor. Many Blessings
In Germany it is pretty good but we did have enough hospitals but some of these lack experience with serious cases and you need to should down small hospitals to provide better emergency care and better treatment outcomes.
People without insurance have no choice but to use the ER for primary care or they do without healthcare. Someone I know died yesterday. They went to the ER after they passed out. They had a large tumor in their chest and 8 tumors in their brain. Their eye was bulging from one of the tumors. I guess they will find out what kind of cancer they had on autopsy. Reminds me of a patient that I had who was on the metrolink and was alive but not responsive. She had Paget's disease of the breast and died two weeks later. She was just going to work, but had no sick days or insurance, so she died of a treatable disease. Then there was the lady who left the hospital to take her 6 year old son to live with her brother and came back to die 3 weeks later of ovarian cancer. Again, no sick days or insurance, she worked in a factory. As a bonus, her landlord evicted her the day before she died. The US is just a wonderful place.
I almost cringed at the fact that my medical insurance costed me more than my flights when I went to the USA for a pre existing condition that I had. Almost everywhere in the world you will be treated for free if you are traveling but not in the USA. 🎉🎉
@@MsDeeLaRenta well, my dad had an emergency in Switzerland and Germany and in neither place was it free! But in the US it was. We have excellent care here and it annoys me when people discount it.
I was a patient at UofAZ Medical in 1977..for 3 months.. Auto accident, I was 28 yrs old, student at U of AZ, Tucson. They truly saved my life, I died twice in ICU, was in a coma for a month. Had emergency surgery after they could find out where my injury was, I got peritonitis.. Most people die from it. They truly worked a miracle..I had one helluva good team. They even sent a student Dr home with me to make sure I settled in OK and showed me how to bandage and cover my abdomen for showers so it didn't get wet. My care was 5 star.. And the entire bill was $5k..it'd be in the high thousands today. I'm a retired paramedic because of this experience.. My ambulance people were horrible and I used to dispatch for them, I knew them!! Not all are cut out for being a 1st responder.
I live in America and I am so blessed because my medical, medicine, etc. Is all paid in full. Not only that but everytime I have ever had involvement in any hospital or doctor I have had excellent care. Dr. Peterson who worked in emergency at Holy Family hospital helped me so much. He found what was wrong and fixed it. He cared. Godbless him.
I've worked in two Level I trauma centers and one Level III. I was excited to watch this until the incident in West, Texas was characterized as a bombing. SMH. Bye.
There are very bad hospitals near us, so we drive family members even in an emergency to the 1 hospital in the area even though it's almost an hour away. We won't trust our lives with pathetic rude doctors and nurses. We are not the only ones who do this in our area. There are very good hospitals and the ones we have around us I wouldn't trust them to treat my dog much less our family members.
Why do people say boots on the ground? Why not say the Heros are here? The Heros are here!!!! The Heros are here!!!!! Boots on the ground doesn't do these Heros justice!
Talking about.. "We HAVE to take time to ask those 3 questions.. 20 seconds.. U WANT TO KNOW.. WHHHYY.. THAT.. DOESN'T.. WORK??? Because... THERE ASKED... IN.. FRONT, OF... HER ABUSER!!! I KNOW.. I WILL.. be leaving & going HOME, BEHIND CLOSED DOORS. Do U REEALLYY THINK..... I'M going to give U a REAL ANSWER!?? I KNOW.. My babies are at home & I NEED to Go Back to them.. And I DON'T THINK... There is ANYTHING U Will Do.. OR CAN DO! Then OF COURSE... I'm NOT going to Hesitate... to tell U... " Everything... "is fine"..."I'M FINE". BECAUSE... I wanna STAY THAT WAY when I get home! I lived with My abuser for 17 yrs. b4 I could get out. THEN... the "judicial system" (ALL MEN)... COMPLETELY SCREWED ME OVER! Leaving my to be abused by Her father!! THOSE... 3 little questions... Mean... NOTHING!!!!!!
Exactly how do we take it for granted until we need it? I'm wondering... we already pay the maximum for health insurance in the nation today anymore and we can't eat. What's more is we don't use our medical benefits we pay for. So basically we've paid two 250K mortgages into health care and used MAYBE a total of 50K in the 30 years I've been married to my husband. I'm pretty sure we're not taking advantage of anything and there's no doubt in my mind we pay our part and then some. I get that it's all so expensive and funding is hard but the average American can not pull blood from turnips. Perhaps medical industries could only pay for what it actually cost in pharmaceuticals and medical equipment instead of the bloated 300% mark up that keeps this industry the biggest money making machine in the world? This needs to be given to the big guys not the general population. I'm terribly grateful for each of these people and what they do. And should we ever need it our bills will get paid and our gratitude will flow in every way we can find. But this felt like a ask for money from us people who already pay more than we use in medical care. It bothers me that no one has a conscience to ask from the poor for things they can't give and then tell us we somehow take advantage of it. You're trying to sell to the wrong crowd, because truth be told if not for us over payers you wouldn't have what you do.
Am so glad I’m not American, you don’t have to wear seatbelts, helmets, you don’t have to have a fence around your swimming pool, it’s easy to get a gun, you rely on a fictitious character to heal you, to keep you and your loved ones alive. In Australia you must wear a seatbelt, helmet. It’s illegal not to have a child proof fence around your pool, for the average citizen to own a gun. We thank our medical staff for keeping us well and alive. We have far less death and life changing injuries than the USA.
I think you have been propagated maybe too much mainstream media here in America it is illegal not to wear a helmets on a motorcycle it is illegal not to wear a seatbelt in a vehicle if you haven't opened pool you are supposed to have a fence around it a self-locking gate otherwise you cannot get home owners insurance we have amazing medical teams and staff here in America constantly in research of making it better however our government is the problem but our free rights as Americans to own a gun to protect ourselves is one of the top in our constitution if your government came today to round you all up and take you into a gas chamber or put you in front of a fire and squad you would have no way to protect yourself against that at least we have the right to do that.
And I was trying not to respond but I have to we do not have a fixational God we have the almighty living God of Jesus Christ and our country is blessed because of it when you see all the evil that's going on it's because those do not believe in God therefore they have evil spirits that is the true battle in America good versus evil God versus the devil and God always wins. I will be praying for you to understand and even more for you to find Jesus his amazing wonderful spirit and power and the blessed peace that you have when you walk your life with him.
Hi Linda. I’m just reading this now, so I thought I would clear things up a bit. All States in America make their own laws. For instance, I live in New York State. It is on the east coast of North America. In New York, by law, you must wear a helmet when riding a pedal bike, motor bike , snow mobile, All Terrain vehicle, etc. It is also law that you must wear a seatbelt while being in a motor vehicle. The law also requires us to child proof our pools. In order to have a hand gun in NY, the law states you must take a weapons safety class, you are investigated by the Sherrif’s department and you must have personal references to prove that you are not likely to commit a crime with the firearm. All of this must be done BEFORE you can legally purchase a hand gun. Most everyone is thankful and grateful for our medical doctors and the teams that work with them. The people you say rely on a deity for healing are radicals of a certain religion. They are very few and rare. We have federal laws that the president, congress and senate take charge of but most of our states make and enforce their own separate laws
@@tammiesargent3876 don’t bother to pray for me. You say it’s the people who don’t believe in god that are evil, which god where you referring to, there are over 2,000. So if you don’t believe your evil, does that include all the religious clergymen and women that abuse children. What about the innocent children dying from thirst, hunger and horrendous diseases, are they evil or is your god making them pay for others sins. The bible is full of stories condoning murder, incest, torture and all kinds of abuse. You brainwash your children to believe the same as you, you wouldn’t think of letting them make up their own minds. I don’t have to swear on a bible to tell the truth, honesty is important to me as is good morals, kindness, empathy, helping others, commitment, taking responsibility for my actions, respect when it’s earned. I live a simple life, I don’t want for grand things, as long as I have a roof over my head, food in my kitchen, the love of my adult children and neighbours I’m happy. However I’m an atheist so according to you I’m evil.
The USA does not have universal health care. Does the uninsured victim receive the same level of care as the insured person? If someone has health care is their level of care determined by how much they pay for health care?
I have a friend who was in a motorcycle accident and only barely survived. Someone pulled out in front of him while he was driving at least 50mph. (I don’t remember the exact details. With most of these trauma situations being motorcycle accidents… my take away is don’t ride a motorcycle and if you do, wear a helmet 😅

@Sapientia lmao r U serious. The healthcare is so expensive in America because the hospital and insurance is allowed to take such a high profit. It has nothing to do with how much money the healthcare workers are earning.

that’s straight up horseshit, these are people that are paid to do a job, that’s all it is a job. same with cops and firefighters, they’re well paid to do a dangerous job they’re not heroes. our heroes are in our military
or any politicians*
Couldn't agree more!!!
Nice mention of the housekeeping staff. Under appreciated but vital!
I think more lives are lost because it takes over an hour to get to the trauma center.
you are right about distant medical care and I am sorry you lost your father.
So sorry about your father 🇨🇦♥️🙏
God bless.
Having my dick out would be the least of my worries in that situation
The presentation to the teens about safe driving was outstanding! Every community should do this.
God bless these doctors and nurses. They are real heroes.
I really, really appreciate speaking about the importance of the house keeping crew!!! so crucial for an effective team!!
It’s all me me me
I worked in a Level I trauma ICU in Albuquerque for a little over 5 years. It was not an easy place to work, but I’m glad, in retrospect, that I did it.
God bless you for your care and serving others.
What a great video!!! God Bless ALL the medical staff from First Responders to Trauma Surgeons for what they do!!
You of all people, without a helmet. Glad you made it.
It’s an excellent book, although veterans with PTSD (like me) might want to take it in tiny chunks, if at all.
i LOVE the nurses i get!!!!! PRAISE to all you nurses out there!!!!! awesome!!!!!!
Thank you for your care and dedication! God bless.
22:14 "Hey Mitch! How you're doing buddy?" - "I'm alive" - "Alright, well, I'm Dr. Tang"
Gotta love those little comedic situations amongst all that seriousness.
Working in Emergency Medicine was the best part of my life... very hectic at times, but I loved every day working...
It’s almost magical, isn’t it?🥲
Level One trauma is the best medical TV show
I salute all those who help patients who need a trauma center, from the dispatchers to the trauma teams
Thank you.♥️
My ex husband was in a really bad car accident.
God bless
having been there, you know that you are in trouble at the Emergency room when they are waiting for you outside.
So glad we got an update on Zane!!! He is battered but basically all in one piece!!!
So hope you’re doing a lot better now.🇨🇦♥️
Glad you’re better and expected to make a full recovery. Hope to see you on the road again!
17:45 I have been working in a level 1 trauma center for over 15 years and not once have I seen PT , OT, Rehab, or ST in the trauma room with us.
The new trauma model is a multi team approach, naturally it has to be budgeted in but a friend assures me that it improves results and throughput.
Must agree with you. Further down the line of care.
I hate moter cycles too dangerous for me..terrible accidents.
Thank you for their amazing service.
Life's daily heroes.
Where would anyone be without you AWESOME, AMAZING, WONDERFUL PEOPLE.
Thankyou for ALL WHAT YOU DO. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS❤️
I'm a nurse for 48 years and it is very rewarding. But you see only things that is seen by police emtand doctors ❤
This was an absolutely outstanding presentation...thank you for taking the time to post it...
Here's to the entire orchestra of Level 1 providers...You have my gratitude and respect...🙏
Very impressive information & educational & important coverage for ALL communities!
I love these
...please please please continue making these videos!!!!
Much respect to these medical professionals
Thank you to all of the medical personnel for dedicating their lives caring for others. For giving up sleep to ensure that others live another day, the hours studying and enduring grueling hours to preserve the life that sometimes we take for granted. Gos bless you all for the sacrifices you selflessly do. ❤❤
Well said. Praise to all members of filming crew.
God bless our Emergency Services ❤ I always preach what the person with the top comment said. *THESE* are the Real Heroes... Not embarrassingly over payed sports athletes and politicians...
I love how they work together so sincronized
I received trauma center treatment and remember most of it. I will never forget the professional, organized, expertise and passionate care from the paramedics, firefighters, nurses, respiratory therapists, X-ray/CT technicians, phlebotomists,ER and trauma MD’s/Surgeons and police officers ❤
23:44 She did not just ask WHAT the emergency is....
Where, ALWAYS ALWAYS start with location. It's THE MOST important aspect of the call.
Not just criminals etc, it's auto accidents, falls, burns. People make me shake my head, in this judgemental country.

@@gurlgotstyle why should they go? You would be right at home.
Thank You for your service everyone 🎉
I was just there for quintental bypass yessss. 5 bypassesses
I'm shocked. I never knew about this. Thank you I learned a lot.
Awesome job putting together this outstanding program.
Trauma centers are second between life and death they are a special breed of people that are able to work underneath that terrible pressure to know that life can be there a second and gone in a second I believe that these individuals are angels among us and I am so glad that they are there for us I hope that I never ever have a love one there for myself I have always told my sons to let me go and know that I love you and I will and meet them at the gate when it is there time to come home please understand for some of us it is easy to choose to stay or to go and know that they are in a better place I take my hat off and say bravo to the team that must stand the line 24 hours a day always there to step forward and fight tooth and nail and no also when it is time to say goodbye I take my hat off to the blue liners the fire department and all that you step in the line to save our lives thank you for your service and also being a blue line your mom I say thank you to my son for the service and dedication that he gives to our community seven days a week 24 hours a day as these people must do they are never on vacation they are never eight hours and then off they are always there
3 question, 30 second; genius.
Shameful.
Isn't that the main one... ?
They only close because they don’t get enough funding. The combination of the hospital absorbing costs for people who can’t pay and the low insurance payouts.
Wow ty..i learned a lot ty and God bless
Very good out look on the Trama world , yes it is there waiting and we never want to see it . God bless the folks that choose and support these medical functions.
In 97 i had a super bad crash on the racetrack. I was taken to a trauma center. I didnt know we had one in Iowa because we have a university hospital and also a Mayo.
Fabulous presentation.
There was also adjacent to this area a Major injuries ITU unit
(no medical or general surgery adissions to this hospital ) The hospital played an important role in the Birmingham Pub Bombings as most of the staff were at a hospital function in the city and all were easily contactable, whilst this emergency was going on someone had the sense to set up a video recorder in the emergency area, they also utilised the outpatients area next to the emergency dept. This hospital has now been demolished but was good in its time
Was that Birmingham’s old accident hospital ? I ask as I’m from there and broke my ankle at 11 and 15 years old I was treated there !! Im 64 now 😀 all mended.
Amazing inspirering heart reached. And an amazing dedicated team😊❤❤❤
I was in the icu for 9 days on life support durring a 16 day hospital Stay after a doctor ignored a kidney stone diagnosis as cause of infection. And never noticed the patient they were overloading with fluids that they then started to treat with Lasix had zero urine out put
Put me in septic shock and in multiple Organ failure.
The politics & business of medical/health care in America is terrifying!
So, glad I'm not in _that_ country. Wow.
Digitalhunny same here
In Germany it is pretty good but we did have enough hospitals but some of these lack experience with serious cases and you need to should down small hospitals to provide better emergency care and better treatment outcomes.

BEST PLACE I HAVE EVER WORKED. ORGANIZED CHAOS
Fantastic show.
We are lucky to have a 6 of level one trauma centers in hospitals including phoenix children’s hospital, that is where my granddaughter works in e.r.

You can’t be shut down for 25% off the time ! That is a ridiculous situation, & can’t be maintained !
The Dr's are talented but arrogant, the nurses are very special angels. Trauma/Burn UMMC
God Bless all of you.
BEST TV MEDCIAL TV SHOW EVEN
Excellent show thanku
I've worked in two Level I trauma centers and one Level III. I was excited to watch this until the incident in West, Texas was characterized as a bombing. SMH. Bye.
My surgery team was the the best they had on me
There are very bad hospitals near us, so we drive family members even in an emergency to the 1 hospital in the area even though it's almost an hour away. We won't trust our lives with pathetic rude doctors and nurses. We are not the only ones who do this in our area. There are very good hospitals and the ones we have around us I wouldn't trust them to treat my dog much less our family members.
I’ve had a pretty traumatic early life. I was in the neonatal intensive care unit for 120 days. I almost died 2 times.
Uhm.. you didnt even made memories back then. I wouldnt call it traumatic..
We do the mock car crashes here in California as well, they're called, "Every 15 minutes."

It's strange I was trying to find something like this
Exactly how do we take it for granted until we need it?
I love this narrator’s voice! Who is she?
Moses had me rolling!!😂😂😂😂
I bet you have less people and distance, too. We have excellent care here. Don’t slam it until you become a citizen and have the right to criticize!
From a person who doesn't live in America, is there much of a difference between level 4 Trauma & ER?
why is nobody talking about bro literally being 112 years old
The USA does not have universal health care. Does the uninsured victim receive the same level of care as the insured person? If someone has health care is their level of care determined by how much they pay for health care?
If you're illegal you'll have better care than the American TAXPAYERS!
@@colleenpellant1484 why would that be the case? Any evidence?
@@colleenpellant1484 Totally false. Everyone gets the same care in the ER.
@@ranger1967100WRONG!
I know Florida has a law stating that emergency healthcare cannot be denied even if the patient obviously appears unable to pay.
@ 22:00 if he continues NOT to wear a Helmet he Ironically will be a " Cabbage, Lf "
