  • A delicious way to enjoy corned beef with cabbage as it's done in the Caribbean. We'll start off creating a base of flavor with onion, garlic, seasoning peppers (pimento peppers), scallions and thyme. then we'll add is some scotch bonnet pepper for a gentle kick after which the shredded cabbage joins the party. Finally in goes a can of cornedbeef which is mixed in well and cooked for a further 3 minutes before your corned beef with cabbage recipe is ready.

    You need an hour long cooking show, bro! I love that you share on TH-cam (shout out to TH-cam), but it would be awesome to have your own cooking show filled with the history of the recipes, stories from back home, shopping for ingredients, cooking buddies (aka appearances from the family lol) and of course, Cooking with Chris - Caribbean style! Love your videos. Love your recipes. Thanks for sharing!

    There’s a similarity how we cook corned beef in a can in the Philippines. Just like you said to stretch and feed a big family. We never eat the corned beef in a can unless it’s sautéed style with onions and garlic. Oh yeah we make omelette corned beef in a can sautéed on onions, garlic and green onions. Once it’s cook mix with one scrambled eggs and then fry. It’s good for a bread sandwich.

I am moving and had to save for it. This sounds like it will be a great meal. I have 2 cabbages in the fridge. I also have made a cabbage soup of sorts. I think I can add a tomato Yum.

    Interesting what you say about the price of corned beef. As a kid in the UK it was considered a "poor man's meat" But fairly recently it got to around £3 a tin which seemed expensive (to me at least!). Now I see it's down to around £1.50 a tin so I will be using it again. Will definitively try your recipe - thanks!

      Lol same here! Real jamaican thingz.....my mom makes it backwards after she grilled the veggies she adds the corn beef with a little tomato paste a little water some pepper sauce then she adds the cabbage on top. Cover it on low heat and once the cabbage has sweated or wilted down and soaked up all the flavors. She stirs it all up and boom its done....fried dumpling, banana, yam, sweet potato(the white one not the American orange) brruuhhhh thinking about it now is making me hungry

    the ketchup is the traditional way (no doubt) but with this version I find you don't need it. The golden ray.. lets just say my mom warns me about the high cholesterol in that... though the taste is SO GOOD!

  • @ChrisDeLaRosa
    @ChrisDeLaRosa 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    when doing it without cabbage I usually just empty the can of corned beef directly into the pot as I find there's enough fat in the corned beef so there's no need for any oil. The older you get the more you try to find ways to cut back on oil and salt.
