I just showed this to my dad who has never even seen rowing, and his immediate response was "Why did they let go of the things? That's what made them tip."

I must commend you its takes skill, patience, and gravity to flip a four and you managed to flip a 4 quite effectively, not as impressive as flippin an 8 but pretty damn close

I love how it started with just stroke letting go, which dipped the boat to one side, but then all three behind her let go of the oars when they felt the dip and grabbed the edges of the boat to feel safer. Yeah didn't work so well...

I think it is interesting how almost every response in a panic situation is the worst one possible. Like people forgetting how to use a door when a building is in fire, or in this instance, letting go of the oar, the one thing stabilizing the boat

    - 10 singles
    - 2 doubles
    - 1 sunk quad
    - 1 capsized quad
    - 1 fall from coach boat
    total: 15
    this doesnt include
    - trying to climb into a boat after capping but then flipping over the top.
    - falling into the water while trying to get in or out of a boat.

This is considered nearly impossible on an 8 seat boat. However I do not want to test this because the water in New Jersey is always very col and is nearly freezing right now. If we ever flip our A Team boat our coach would probably make us do body circuits until we died.

    • @TurtleSauceGaming

To be fair, we've had what felt like a few close calls in trying to spin, especially in the four. For some reason, when backing port, no one can ever get the timing right in our boat. And then for some reason, when it starts to tip to starboard, one of our starboard guys begins raising his handle to catch the water before realizing "oh shit, that's making things worse." Problem is, it's not a once or twice thing. I love my boat bros, but boy does it get annoying. But, for all the messes we've had on the water, we've never managed to actually flip, so I guess we're a step up from the learn to row guys? (I have a sneaking suspicion this is learn to row?)
