I was laughing pretty hard the entire time but the ending is Spielberg level where the boat that caused the whole problem to begin with is seen floating aimlessly in to the frame, STILL not rowing or making any effort to continue the race. Just looking around, almost catatonic.
In the first clip, the coxswain should have had 7, 5 and 3 seat square to get off the course of the dock. If that didn't work, add in stroke to square. Yes, that may be overkill, but it's better than careening into the dock and nearly killing your rowers (their heads were SO close to hitting the edge of the dock.) They should have also had starboard row with more pressure, which they might have been doing. As a coxswain, I respect other coxswain and know that the job is very hard, and especially with tall rowers in a sternloader, it's hard to see stuff. But when you see it coming that fast, you CANNOT fix it gradually, you have to be immediate. I think everyone was pretty inexperienced though. The coach should have been there telling them to stop, but they were probably drowned out by the hordes of screaming moms screaming the most useless things...
Also just report them... unwanted commercial content or spam or choose I think their account has been hacked. Its simple to report, youtube may just get sick of everyone complaining.
I remember doing crew in high school and I was in a boat of 4. We had just finished a huge workout, and we stopped for a moment to take a breather before docking in. And when the time came to dock in, and when we heard "ROW" we pushed, but then we started tipping over (bear in mind, a 4 person boat is pretty hard to keep balanced) so we just expected to keep balance. Sadly, we started tipping over, water started filing up, and we tipped over. So yeah, moral of the story, I feel so much better after seeing this video xD But yeah I'm sorry for all those teams in this video, I know the struggle! No worries man!

I've never rowed one of these, but used to be in a canoe brigade that had a ten man canoe and used to race with them against other teams. There were plenty of female paddlers. What I see in this video is bad coaching. Whoever thought it was a good idea to take untrained rowers and have them race, was a damn'd fool. Unless the teams know how to maintain complete control at all times, there should at least have been one trained adult in each boat to direct them. Stupid adults are at fault here.

Those boats cost anywhere between 10k-50k. What a joke that these team's coaches thought they could do a race with the experience I witnessed. The boat team during my highschool, I don't think anyone was allowed in an official race until they had at least a year of practice out on the river. We did mock races against other schools during practice ever now and then, but nothing which involved a multitude of boats. It's scary enough during a race when you catch a wave during choppy water conditions and almost get pulled overboard. Deer in headlight syndrome with all these rowers.
Great job, ladies! It's awesome to see young, independent, empowered feminist girls showing that they can hang with the boys in sports. These girls are just as good as any boy's team.
