    You know it's a bad sign when someone is assigned to a department where he's not needed. It means someone somewhere else wanted to get rid of him, and just found a place to put him.

    The Demolition company is very likely going to be shut down by OHS along with huge fines

    I did demolition. Asbestos is the scariest shit and stories I've ever seen/heard. We did the whole 9 yards for Asbestos removal. Its time consuming but worth it in the end. Some jobs got soo bad we had to get a full decontamination for the site and at that point im glad i always opted out on Asbestos jobs. Silica dust is another one thats frightening. Did a job in Vancouver that had Silica dust on the roof. 3 weeks of removal just for the roof. Insane how these stuff were used back in the day.

      Silica dust is still in a lot of things used on a construction site, especially commercial. concrete being the biggest contributor, it’s in drywall, compounds and various other things to build houses and hi-rises. They don’t use asbestos anymore but many men and women including myself on a construction site have to breath silica dust on a daily basis. We all do as people but people in construction literally kill themselves just showing up to work everyday. It’s a choice for the most part for those of us whom have been educated and have to be because of our labor unions, but there are many who don’t know this, from lack of training mostly not extended to them, but something they just don’t know.

      My sister worked at a paper envelope factory and the management did not tell the off shift workers that there was asbestos in one area of the place. The day shift person did know about it and would not do any work in that area, leaving it for my sister got stuck doing his work. She did get mesothelioma, and she died five days before last Christmas.

    9:23 well I couldn't find a news article about this particular incident but there were at least dozens of news reports of landlord being sued for asbestos exposure, but part of me thinks the reason it never aired yet, was because of Karen's husband, who probably took the report of the insurance provider and swept it under the rug, or worse lied and made up a cover story and pinned the blame solely on Keith

    As prior service transportation, I feel I must inform those who are unaware, but when you hear a military vehicle called a 5 ton/7 ton/etc it does not refer to the weight of the vehicle, rather, the total weight of cargo capacity. They easily weigh 10-15 tons without cargo.

    Rerouting lost trucks isn't cheap, but they usually hire civilian CDL operators for that. I'm sure they appreciated the extra business.

  • @Josh_the_jester
    @Josh_the_jester 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    2:47 depends on the time of fuel, did those trucks take traditional gasoline or was diesel, and sence fuel prices is different in every state, with 4 trucks. I'd probably cost them around $2,500 in fuel, I'm more thankful that they just got their equipment back, as military equipment would be more expensive to replace if it went missing.

    Not sure on the last one. How did Jack manage to transfer the payments from his account to Jill’s without her signing or agreeing for hers to be used? He could have simply stopped payment without telling her and she wouldn’t have known until the company contacted her to advise the payment had been missed and to contact them to bring it back up to date.

    Yea this is a cheater story that I'm perfectly down with. I've never cheated in my life but it's hard for me to get behind those revenge stories where they tank the rest of their lives. We don't know the other person's perspective so it just seems like too much.
    If someone's super controlling or abusive, they aren't going to tell us that. It makes sense that someone in an abusive relationship, who has been told they can't do any better (a favorite line of abusers), would need solid evidence that they, in fact, can before they generate enough self esteem to break away from an abuser (either male or female).
    In this story, though, had she immediately gotten off of her lazy ass, she could have pulled it out. It probably would have been hella difficult but still immensely doable. He simply stood up for himself & let her suffer the consequences of her own actions. Lovely.

    It cost a lot to ship those 4 trucks. Even if these trucks were shipped by rail it cost a lot, if they were driven even more. Most military equipment is rated at gallons per mile, NOT miles per gallon.

    • @cgi2002
      @cgi2002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't overestimate it. The drivers doing that shipping were on pay regardless so ignore them.
      Now in the fuel, if the drivers weren't driving those trucks, they'd have been given something else to drive around (probably pointlessly) just to keep them busy. Soldiers with an excess of free time are bad for morale apparently.
      So its "oh you have nothing to do, drive this truck to Texas to pick up a crate"
      Gets crate, which is then immediatly shipped to Florida so they can repeat the process. Never underestimate the militaries ability to was money on a scale that is truly impressive

    Story one: I work in shipping as a military contractor. Depending on how you load the trucks and how many per shipment, it could be either really expensive or not that bad. We don't do vehicle haulers. Based on other tires of carriers, is guess they're about 7k to across country. Flat bed trailers cost about 6k. Dry vans are cheaper. So it really depends on how many you can send per load. These numbers are estimated and estimated high. When we ship, it's a bid that goes through our various brokers. So we can get some great deals. I'm still learning that aspect of logistics. So take that with a grain of salt.

    If you check the updates on the post you’ll see that the insurance company actually took back what they said and said that they will only pay for the section that was damaged and they don’t know the price yet and then there’s also the fact that they don’t know who’s going to be held reliable for the asbestos but if anyone gets sick someone’s gonna pay...

    I don't like to do this, but story 1 smells fishy. How are OP and the sergeant not court-martialled over this big a logistics mess-up?

    • @maiqtheliar789
      @maiqtheliar789 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed. The investigation would have uncovered the OPs part in the mess up, and his head would have been on the line as well. Sounds like a civilian trying to pass off a story that they heard from someone else but not understanding all the details so they filled in the blanks themselves. Granted sometimes major fuck ups are swept under the rug occasionally but not for anyone below E-7 and the OP wasn't a senior NCO so not happening. Shit rolls down hill so moment the SSG knew something messed up he would have went over every bit of that paperwork with a fine tooth comb and would have found where it was fucked up fast. From there wouldn't have taken long to find out who else fucked up what. And then all that is left is a massive shit sandwich and everyone that fucked up has to take a big bite out of it. After that the micromanagement from up top would have gotten worse and not better because the military's answer to bureaucratic mess ups is more control measures in place and more micromanagement. So even if OPs part in the fuck up was somehow overlooked he would have just been shooting himself and everyone else in that section is the fucking foot.

    • @AwkwrdPrtMskrt
      @AwkwrdPrtMskrt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Other details include OP (obviously American) using the British spelling "armoured" and the fact that he dispatched the trucks to California instead of Wisconsin… from South Carolina. Imagine if your pilot flew you from New York to Tokyo when the destination was supposed to be London. If this story is true I hope OP never works at the battlefield.

    • @kimothy1701
      @kimothy1701 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AwkwrdPrtMskrt not really a correct analogy as a truck driver would go where the logistic order said to go, in this case California. I agree however that when they arrived at the destination, alarm bells would have started to ring at the gates when the “recipient” had no record of any expected delivery. An investigation would have started there and then not, what appeared to be, days or weeks later when they called to ask why they still had 4 trucks. A military base allowing entry of 4 large trucks that were not expected? I don’t think so!

    Wanna some something funny? You can not tell if a material is asbestos. Least that's what I was taught at the plants when I had to take a 32 hour class to become legally certified to remove it.

    It's surprising to think they're still buildings out there in-use that contain asbestos and it's not just residential homes it's also buildings such as schools even. My high school the campus was built in the 60 and went through many different hand and many different schools, it took till 2018 for them to finally find the last trace of asbestos on the campus and remove it and it only came when they renovated a classroom into a parent meeting spot. Mind you this is a class in that was also an active use before then.

    9:16. . ASBESTOS!
    My father died of Mesothelioma, a lung cancer caused by asbestos.
    Nobody in the world who has ever had Mesothelioma has ever survived. . 100% death rate from the disease!
    The experts who examined my father when he first was diagnosed said he probably inhaled asbestos when a house containing asbestos cement sheets was demolished when my father was 40 years old (He died when he was 82 years old). . So 42 years later the disease came up. . and killed him.
    There is STILL a small possibility that I may come down with the disease, as I was living in the same house as my father when the house next door was demolished. .
    You never know with that stuff!!

    Story 1: Twentynine Palms, California is not Army. That’s US Marine Corps. There’s two USMC stations in South Carolina. Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, both in Beaufort County out on the coast immediately north of Hilton Head Island which is absolutely gorgeous by the way. I’m from a Military Family and both of my Parents were in the Army.
    Story 2: I would’ve sued the crap out of Karen and the Demolition Company. He’s got one hell of a case.
    Story 3: That bit of revenge is exactly what I would’ve done. I’m not the nuclear revenge type unless it’s absolutely necessary to prevent someone else from experiencing the same problem.

    Sounds like the roof story did not take place in the US which might be why you can’t find stories on it.

    The first story abt sending 4 trucks to 29 Palms wasn't really an epic revenge. Nothing happened to the SSgt, besides some ass chewing. No demotion, no pay reduction. Lame. And it cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands dollars for it.

    • @cgi2002
      @cgi2002 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tbh it likely cost tax payers next to nothing. They weren't transported by a private company, but by the logistics corps, so they'd be getting paid regardless. The only real cost was in fuel, and even that is questionable as those same drivers would probably have used just as much fuel driving around dropping off other stuff that didn't really need moving but was moved just to keep people busy. Alot of military work is busy work, especially when not on deployment in an active combat zone.

    Brian and his family should be okay, single exposure to Asbestos does rarely increase the risk of cancer, unless it's in really high amounts (like during 9/11 where there were clouds with asbestos).
