great job dude, the funny thing is that you wearing the first t-shirt (Del Piero) i had in my childhood. additionally to the amout of information in the video i had the chance to recover a piece of my childhood memories. thankyou and big up.
exactly what I needed
Awesome. Glad its helping people.
great video!
Thanks! It's been one of the most challenging and rewarding videos we've made. We put a ton of time into it and hope it helps the community.
Hi, recently I have bought a 16 port TESmart switch and follow your instructions to setup with PiKVM V2 HDMI-CSI bridge. However, I am unable to use the mouse on the Web console. Anyone can help on this?
thanks
You're welcome!
I didn't realize the kit didn't come with the HDMI module. Is there any adapter that works to get the HDMI in through USB? Or is the module the only option for full function? Also, where can I get the case with the HDMI slot? Thank you for the video!
Here's the HDMI module we used in the video: amzn.to/3JZGuAt (Amazon Link)
The exact case is here: amzn.to/3JZGuAt (Amazon Link)
But it's been sold-out discontinued. We'll see if we can find a current case for the description of the video.

Override.yaml value for “absolte” should be false? Or is that a typo?
I really wanted this to work. I bought a PiKVM and the 8-port Tesmart switch, but it only works well for some of my computers. The others had all kinds of EDID issues and I gave up. Apparently, the Tesmart switcher does not pass through the EDID of the connected monitor or, in this case, the PiKVM capture device. I think it is substituting its own EDID. I never got this to work, so I bought a different switcher instead. Very frustrating.
TechoTim also ran into the same problem
Which switch did you buy? And did it work better than the tesmart switch?
I am not able to take remote access of the laptop but able to see the screen only not any audio. Tailscale is working. Please help to take the remote access.
My setup is:
Laptop1 connected to PiKVM via HDMI and USB Data cable and trying to take remote access of laptop 1 from laptop 2
very cool :) audio is supported ? many thanks
Yes it does, the KVM transmits audio via HDMI but you can add you own devices for audio.
Where did you get the case with the hdmi-csi bridge cutout in it? My websearch on 'GeekPi Raspberry Pi 4 Metal Case with Fan' does not return that model. [Edited] - never mind just noticed your comment below that it was discontinued. I assume that you didn't find a similar alternative?
Hey TechLobo, this is an old model probably discontinued no sure where can be found :(.
I want to know, i have Pi micro HDMI to HDMI cable, usb male to male and power cable. Is those fine to run a basic pi KVM ? i want to knoe here in my case if i plug My Pi 4B's micro HDMI to My Main CPU's HDMI input will it work ? and Pi's USB out to CPU's USB in will it work as keyboard and mouse. I need the very basic KVM.
Nice Video, Where did you get the case and the HDMI Adapter?
We got everything from PiShop.us!
We got everything from PiShop.us!
How is the keyboard and mouse on the desk with the KVM switch connected? Is it connected to the desktop?
Wireless, plugged with a USB dongle.
Does this setup allow switching between linux and Windows computers?
I saw an older video from techno tim that mentioned there were issues with that scenario at the time, but may be fixed in the future.
I think we demo'd that in this video here: th-cam.com/video/BxU7MAoycVo/w-d-xo.html
the command pacman -Syu tailscale-pikvm throwes an error as invalid URL ? what should i do ?
Your SSL cert is failing because of invalid time.
I had to manually set my system time
Hi, is still not clear to me if I can use just one pivkm to see the screens simultaneously, is possible to select more than 1 input at the same time? Like if I want just to see the screen but work at another, is possible using this config?
This setup is for single monitor environments only. Whatever the single-monitor KVM has selected will show up on the PiKVM and your local monitor. You could get real sophisticated with a dual monitor KVM but it would be a brain puzzle on how to switch PC's/Monitors. Definitely wouldn't recommend it because of how overly complex it would be.
I see that it's a TESmart 16 Port 4K KVM. Do the shortcuts (scroll, scroll) work remotely?
Do you need to modify the file (override.yaml) on pikvm for it to work?
The KVM works independently from the PiKVM, no file needs to be modify for the hotkey commands.
the ATEN box is more expensive, and can't run via VPN, meaning either handling a static IP, or getting the latest public IP each time, plus port forwarding requires modem access to setup. the PiKVM is a dream, though it's missing two-way audio
Yea, that's the point of the video. Couple the PiKVM with the TESmart KVM and you have a much cheaper solution. Insert Tailscale and you don't need to worry about the static IP.
If you use Tailscale, you bypass majority of the stuff you had mentioned.
What is the purpose of the splitter? Can the PiKVM be directly connected to the Tesmart switch?
We wanted to create an scenario were a splitter is needed on a server management room, is not really necessary but it can be handy.
For local use case we need to install the tailscale on all machines or only in the one that we will access the others?
Hey Luis, Tailscale needs to be installed only on the computer that will control the rest.
Perfect! If possible can you answer one more question? Can I control the PCs with different browsers? Like one browser per screen? If needed using different users on PiKVM
I bought dying kit from Amazon i am trying to access my laptop but there is no display i got it from geekworm its a3 on rasberry pi 4 any ideas
The KVM is plug and play so you shouldn't have issues, try reaching Geekworm support and see what they have to say.
if you could contribute and get a KVM over IP working on an inexpensive board (Rapsberry/Orange/Banana Pi) with two-way audio (ideally via AUX),
Agreed 2 way audio would be sick. To our knowledge that is not possible at this time.
already have pikvm4. need to connect 2 laptops
Hey we can give you a list of what you need and how to set it up, fill-up this form and an agent of our customer support will help you: www.buytesmart.com/intake
Was the case fan not plugged in to power?
Nop, we missed that part 😅
I have dual monitor dual system TESmart KVM, how do I connect it with PiKVM ? HDMI Splitter solution won't work.
Hey, one video connection cannot be split into two, if the PiKVM doesn't support multiple displays there is no workaround, with our setup we just needed one display.

During editing you you thought 't a dark red text on a black background is easy to view? Should had default to no colors if you want it easier for the viewer to follow along or at least comment in the video description what was inserted
We will talk to our production team 🤓
Now turn off and on the PC remotely!
Should have included hows to enable wifi. I'm stuck.
Sorry, didn't think of that. We used a hardwired LAN connection for our setup because it was easily accessible.
I'm more confused
So we were, but things get easier the more you dive into it.
