    unaith dhinan thOzhudhilan: I do not worship You everyday.
    una dhiyalbinai uraiththilan: I do not speak of Your great qualities.
    pala malarkodun adiyiNai uRappa Nindhilan: I do not offer many flowers at Your feet and surrender myself.
    oruthava milan: I do not meditate at all.
    una dharuLmARA uLaththu Lanbinar: Your devotees whose hearts are never bereft of Your grace,
    uRaividam aRigilan: their whereabouts are never known to me.
    viruppodun sikaramum valam varugilan: I never walk around Your hilly abode with devotion.
    uvappod unpugazh thudhiseya vizhaigilan: I do not desire to praise Your Glory with delight.
    malaipOlE kanaithth ezhum pagadu: The mountain-like buffalo grunts and comes towards me
    adhu pidar misaivaru: on whose back ride
    kaRuththa venchina maRalithan uzhaiyinar: the dark and angry messengers of Death-God (Yaman);
    kadhiththa darndheRi kayiR: they throw around my neck the thick noose
    adu gadhaikodu porupOdhE: and fight with me using their cruel weapon (gathai), (to take my life away). At that time,
    kalakku Runseyal ozhivaRa azhivuRu: I lose my heart and become immobilized, with my consciousness rapidly fading away,
    kaRuththu naindhala muRupozhudhu: and with all the suffering I lose my perspective.
    aLavaikoL kaNaththil enbayam aRa: At that last moment, to allay my fear

    dhinath dhinam chathur maRaimuni muRaikodu: Everyday, in accordance with the rules laid out by BrahmA, who founded the Four VEdAs,
