I'm from that era. Rodger Staubach and Joe Montana were my favorite QBs. I was a wide receiver in high school, and we actually practiced making catches like that. Never take Your eye off the ball !! But to do this in a clutch, like Golden Richards did, is the sweetest !
4:34 I remember watching this on TV when I was 11! I've never forgotten that play, and have brought it up in conversation with friends over the years. So happy to get to see this awesome catch again!
I watched this game when I was 11, The Richards TD reception was one of the best I've ever seen, The Cowboys became the first wild card team to reach the Super Bowl in '75.
Golden was elevated by the forces of nature because the commentator said he "loved him." Rare to see Landry clap and congratulate a player. Landry was so stoic because that's what he expected. If the Cowboys won in the last two minutes, for example, he didn't usually show excitement because the plays and players just worked as they were supposed to. Staubach could really throw darts. Preston Pearson didn't show much on this segment but he was always one of the best players on the field. Newhouse was a beast. Both Newhouse and Preston Pearson contributed to great seasons up until the early 80s even after the arrival of Tony Dorsett in 77.
Thank you too like he said below me. I was 15, in HS when this game was played. Recall this catch plus Newhouse's pass/catch final in SB against Denver. Thank you for the many memories! R.I.P.
I watched this game at the age of 9. LOL If I remember right, Dallas won 37-33. And I remembered this great catch by Golden Richards. Great upload here.
ok oops you're right...The chiefs did in fact win 34-31. Wow what a game though. Since I was a Vikings fan it didn't mater to me as much. But he exciting MNF game was appreciated. Thanks for the reply.
KING KRUSH I found and watched the game on this site. www.kcchiefsgames.com/GameRoom.htm You have to sign up, but well worth it if you're a Chiefs fan.
Everything was better back in the 70's and 80's!!!! The Uniforms, the Players, the announcers, the fields and Stadiums, Life in General Was BETTER!!!! Still can't Believe this Cowboys Team, did NOT WIN 2 OTHER SUPER BOWLS, in the 70's or 80's??? Pearson and Richards may have had the Best Hands and Route Running of ANY pair of WR's, on Any Team in the 70's!!!!
Hate the Cowboys, but I love the "Stand up to get set" at the line and Golden Richards was a class act. They were a great team. Nothing but respect for them back then
This was certainly Golden Richard’s career highlight catch. I would have thought he had more impressive stats especially with the Cowboys. Sad to hear of his passing. Unfortunately there are many players from this highlight clip that are no longer with us.
Now days it would take 10 minutes of instant replay and they would come back and say he never had control of the ball before going out of bounds, pass is incomplete!
Golden was a great receiver. Unfortunately, he got caught up in a numbers game at Dallas. In the late 70's, the Cowboys just had so much talent at wide receiver, they couldn't keep them all. Golden ended up going to the Bears. I personally, would have kept Golden, and traded Butch Johnson. Which they ended up doing anyway, to Denver.
+Venom101002 golden richards was anything but great--c'mon, a decent hands type, nothing more. Tom Landry could play 11 high schoolers and make them look like all pro's.
+t a Yeah, sure there are. I'm sure there are high school players all over the country, that could step into the NFL right now, and be stars. You just keep believing that.
+t a Since you're not intelligent enough to have a serious conversation, or know what a good receiver he was, averaging 17.5 yards per catch, I will no longer waste my time with you. I don't just go by stats. I saw him play every week.
Brett Shepherd, For all the 24/7 football fanatics like myself, I've had the NFL GamePass since the first year, being my third renewal coming up in August. What I specifically like is they offer a view view different than the traditional view like we see on tv. It's more of a "North - South" view that's called the "Coaches Film". And believe me, when you're watching the regular game and there's a penalty, sometimes you can't see it. Not to mention seeing how blocking schemes are developed. For those who do coach, this is an invaluable teaching tool. If download "NFL Mobile" first, then on the left is the icons to push, from NFL. Com, to the NFL Network. But you'll also see the NFL GamePass. I only wish there were sounds so we can here the calls from the players as well as the play being called under its true dialog so we get the feel of the game. Now, it doesn't go back nearly as much as I would like to see because I'd personally like to see the 85 Bears in the 46-Defense, destroy QBs. Unfortunately they destroyed my favorite team as well to the score of 44-0 at Texas Stadium. This truly was the best defense I had ever seen, because QBs didn't have a chance. The one game that didn't win really was because you could just see they were mentally exhausted. Because it does take alot of discipline. Which how the Miami Dolphins pulled of an undefeated season, even in 74, is still amazing because they almost blew it several times that year.
Thank you for this beautiful memory. I was thirteen and watched this with my father of blessed memory. Golden was an amazing player. Thrilling team.

Sounds like something I would say Rodger Staubach was my hero and then Joe Montana after Landry got fired

I remember also TH-cam is great

I watched this in third grade. Golden was the man.
me 4th
@@murdough208 4th for more too
Damn. What a catch. Almost as good as his catch in the Super Bowl vs. Denver in '78.
Golden Richards was awesome.
Golden Richards was an awesome athlete. He ran great pass routes, had good hands and lot of speed. Injuries kept him from doing more.
Golden was elevated by the forces of nature because the commentator said he "loved him." Rare to see Landry clap and congratulate a player. Landry was so stoic because that's what he expected. Newhouse I recall, was a 'beast'! His pants had to be special made as his thighs were I believe his shirt #44 as in 44 inch thighs!
Amazing catch and even Tom Landry gives Golden a little pat on the shoulder which I don't think Landry did that often.
Thank you too like he said below me. I was 15, in HS when this game was played. Recall this catch plus Newhouse's pass/catch final in SB against Denver. Thank you for the many memories! R.I.P.
I was 7, and I remembered the Golden Richard touchdown catch

KING KRUSH The Chiefs won it. 34-31 I think..But they won it.

G0Chiefs I checked that website out, and it is really good! Do you know of any other similar websites for other teams?
Whistling Ray!! WOW!! My favorite Dallas Cowboy of all time was GOLDEN RICHARDS!!
Golden Richards was a beautiful man. I knew him.... briefly
Thanks for posting, I was about 8 years old back then. I not sure if I watched the game, but it seems like I remembered that td catch
Damn even the announcers were better back then
RIP Gogo Richards 🫡⭐
Gawd football was so much better in those days. Especially Cowboys football..
Great catch!!
Just heard about this catch against KC on Monday nite football. Rip golden Richards!

My 3 favorite uniforms from the time no longer exist, Patriots, Oilers and Chargers.

Re: the title, I love "KCatDallas", my favorite team.
Best catch I ever seen. 👍🏼

This would make a good super bowl ( Dallas vs KC )
Crazy Ray!
WOW!!

obvious, even in replay that the catch was indeed in bounds and NEVER even got to the line!
Never forget it. I was sitting in that end zone. RIP 83.
A VCR in 1975? That thing must have cost a small fortune!
Whistlin' Ray at 2:40!!!
Chris Hauser Thanks, I was trying to remember his name
His name was Crazy Ray. Just fyi

Venom101002 best year-26 receptions... a girl in a wheelchair could be more productive. Richards was a stiff.

Well....Golden Richards had some BIG off-field issues......drug addiction.
when mnf was good

yes, sd tv those days not quite this bad for viewing but little did we know/
How did John Matuszak get to the Raiders?
I'm guessing by traveling west, because If he traveled east it would be 23,000 miles further.
@@ckobo84
Maybe should’ve been “When” not how John Matuszak get to the Oakland Raiders.
I think someone used a Bigfoot camera to record this.
You have a HD tv and you can't even put your recording of it in focus. Wow! Dude, really?
MNF game. Very inferior KC team won 34-31. Dallas had 7 turnovers, was a minus 4. That'll make you lose.
Staubach threw some terrible passes that ended up being iconic touchdowns
ALIEN INVASION ON EASTER
and there you have the career highlight of golden richards. dime a dozen wideout.
