There was just no stopping him in the late 1970s and '80s. The Cowboys have had a long history of star running backs. The play by play caller is Frank Glieber who died of a heart attack in 1985 at just age 52.

What is so sad and disrespectful to Tony...is everybody talks about his amazing speed and acceleration but he's never listed as one of the 5 or 10 fastest running backs in league history. I'm the same age as Tony and been watching NFL all my life and I've never seen any back with all the physical tools and talents that Dorsett had from Pop Warner to PRO !!!

Tony Dorsett had probably one a the best back to back seasons a player can have. National Champion and Heisman trophy winner and many other individual awards at Pitt in 76. Offensive Rookie of the year and Superbowl champ in 1977. What more could you ask for?
