    Hello, great review sir. I would like ask about the battery performance. I'm planning to buy this 2022 version and don't need any graphic card. Is it possible to disable to graphic card to gain more battery life. For example, does XG mode help me? Finally, how would i get total battery performance( as hours), if i usual usage (light works). Greetings.

    Great review. I like how you covered a lot of real life use aspects of using this device. Battery life impressed me. Not sure it's the right laptop for me, but I really like many things about it. Photo edits is one of my interests so I just wish it had a better color gamut, and the screen size and resolution are maybe too small for my bad eyes. But I love the idea of such a compact form factor that can do some decent gaming.

      @BXbomber718  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. I actually just posted a benchmark and final thoughts comparison video between the two today. Check it out when you get a moment. Yes the X13 can output 1440p @144hz on the USB Type-C port. However, will you actually be able to take advantage of AAA games at 1440p @144hz on a 3050Ti? No. Maybe games that are 5 years or older...possibly. If you're looking for more horsepower from the X13 then Asus does offer the XG mobile device (either the 3080 or 6850xt version) that attaches to it's PCIe port and will be able to do 1440pm @144hz no problem.

      As someone who has the Rog flow 2022 (this version) and the rog xg mobile rtx 3080; I can indeed happily inform you that EVERY game that I have threw at this unit (many of which have been AAA open world demanding titles released within the last 12-24 months) ran well above 60-90fps at Ultra settings when the XG mobile and the rog flow were set in Armory Crate to either the "turbo" or the "manual" power setting (when choosing the manual option: power limit sliders must be set to maximum for the CPU/GPU along with a robust rpm for the cooling fans). *The one outlier/exception to the 60-90fps/ultra/1440p with the XG Mobile are games in which ray tracing is heavily utilized. In these situations, the performance penalty of enabling ray tracing at high or ultra settings can (in most cases) be remedied with Nvidia's DLSS in either "balanced" or "quality" mode in games that support it. Luckily to my knowledge, I have yet to come across a title that supported ray tracing without support for DLSS being present as well. DLSS is truly an INCREDIBLE technology; and I can tell you from utilizing it heavily on my desktop gaming pc that has an RTX 3090 GPU, played on the LG CX 65 inch OLED gaming television, at 4k/ultra settings that I truly cannot tell the difference between native 4k or DLSS at Quality AT ALL; and using "balanced" setting; AT MOST you lose 5 -10% fidelity when comparing to native 4k. **For this minimal degradation in clarity and quality, I have personally come across games in which the balanced DLSS preset DOUBLED my frame rate and Quality has improved it by up to 35%. I know this is a lot of information; but even if you elect NOT to get the XG mobile; I would definitely enable DLSS on the 3050ti gpu inside the laptop if the game you are playing supports it. If you do so and select the "performance" or "ultra performance" DLSS preset; 1440p resolution would not be out of reach for many titles at medium to high settings with one CRITICAL caveat; the RTX 3050ti only has 4gb of GPU memory on board.... this may not be sufficient for newer games when playing at 1440p; as a matter of fact some select newer AAA titles are unable to be played at 1080p/Ultra settings on a 6gb GPU; or must be played without the download and enable of high resolution texture packs. I hope this information is helpful to someone. I absolutely love the true marvel of engineering that Asus produced in making the Rog Flow x13; the fact that they were able to cram a Ryzen 9 6900hs and a Rtx 3050ti into a two in one that is nearly identical in weight to my Surface Pro 7 is staggering to say the least; and the fact that Asus took the initiative to develop and support an external graphics card option that is not only PORTABLE enough to be put in a backpack with the laptop; but is a huge "f**k you" to intel and the YEARS of anticompetitive practices in which they have engaged; including an outright refusal to grant AMD (or any laptop/desktop manufacturer using an AMD processor in their product) a license to utilize thunderbolt 3/4 technology that Intel developed and patented in cooperation with Apple. It has historically been the lack of being able to provide thunderbolt that left laptop brands like MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, and Alienware with little choice but to have very few (if any) AMD processor based gaming laptops in their lineups each year. Thanks largely to Asus taking a leap of faith (after being impressed at the significant performance improvement of Ryzen 4000 laptop processors compared to the Ryzen 3000 while also reaching nearly the same performance as Intel 9/10th generation H series I5/I7/I9 laptop cpus); consumer sentiment began to change when impressed tech tubers/streamers/ and reputable review sites began encouraging their viewers to consider AMD based laptops processors; while consumers on their own began to become aware that they could get processors with 50-100% more processing cores (useful when streaming/gaming/rendering/etc) with battery life that sometimes was almost double that of the comparable intel cpu based model; while STILL saving sometimes $300 to $500 or more. With all of these net positives, the lack of thunderbolt support while disappointing wasn't a deal breaker for nearly as many gamers, content creators, etc. With the Ryzen 5000 series processors even more staggering performance and battery life improvements; for the first time AMD witnessed wide adoption and embracing of their processors; and for good reason as they FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER they outperformed each and every comparable intel 11th generation processor.
      Now with Asus developing the Rog Flow series (which now has TWO distinct model lines. The 2021 & 2022 rog flow x of 2 in 1 form factor laptops, and the new for 2022 rog flow z series; a tablet form factor with a detachable keyboard very similar in form and function as the Microsoft Surface Pro line; except the flow includes up to a i9-12900H CPU and up to the same Rtx 3050ti featured in the Z line) those who chose AMD have an external graphics card option that by the very way it was designed has almost DOUBLE the bandwidth of thunderbolt 4; all while having the benefit of the Asus ROG XG mobile RTX 3080 16gb being in a form factor that is portable enough to travel and pulls double duty as the power supply for either the Z or the X flow devices and as a docking station; with usb ports, hdmi, display port, ethernet, and sd card on board.
      I wont say anymore, just get the damn thing! Either the Z or X are both amazing devices; and Asus has confirmed that they will indeed be producing follow-up XG mobile units with RTX 4000 series laptop GPUS within; which if initial testing is anywhere near the 2 to 2.5x performance the jump from RTX 2080 desktop and mobile gpu to the RTX 3080 variants.... we will see a staggering performance increase over the current XG mobile. This is a truly innovative solution to the fact that gaming laptops have the GPU and CPU chips soldered to the motherboard; with a reasonably performant I7 or Ryzen 7 laptop cpu meeting requirements for games easily for at least the next 3 to 5 years; the Rog XG mobile provides an upgrade path for the most important part of the laptop when gaming (or using it for intensive video rendering or machine learning tasks as well)

    Thank you for the great review. I'm looking at purchasing a new laptop this summer (gotta make use of that annual bonus!), and while my Razer Blade Advanced 2019 has made it through grad school and countless shifts (it did need to be repaired though, thank goodness for Razercare), I want something that is truly portable, but still has enough punch for gaming. I love my 15, but it's bulky enough to want to leave it at home, or it requires a backpack large enough that it starts to become a burden, especially with the chunky 230-watt power brick.
    The Rog Flow X13 is coming down a lot in price, even the Z13, the Surface-Pro clone model is coming down, but I think the x13 has a lot more going for it so far as durability and usability. I like the fact that you technically can use the X13 as a tablet is a great middle option between having to choose from the 2-In-1 form factor of the Surface Style products and a clamshell laptop.
    The X13 seems like a great alternative to the Razer Blade Stealth that Razer seems to have forsaken to pursue its 14-inch models, and the fact that I can use an Anker USB wall port to power it or use a slimline USB-C hub to add more ports and functionality while only adding a few ounces to my pack is a huge plus.
    The kind of gaming I would do out and about is also far more lightweight, such as Fallout 76, or older games. If I want a brand new shiny game experience I would just use my Xbox X at home.
    Hopefully, they still have these in stock by June of 2023, or better yet, I'd be willing to spend more money for a refreshed 2023 version, but I notice the price is consistently dropping on these as of October of 2022. I could use the money I would have spent on a Razer elsewhere, like a decent gaming monitor (though a new tattoo wouldn't be too bad either).

    Why do you still need to put it in eco or silent mode to turn off dgpu ? Doesn’t the mux switch already disable the dgpu?

    • @BXbomber718
      @BXbomber718  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Michael. Thank you for your comment. Silent mode does not automatically disable the dGPU. It simply downclocks it and limits the voltage. Eco mode completely disables the dGPU. Optimized mode disables the dGPU on battery but activates it when plugged in. The mux switch is a physical circuit that allows the dGPU to render directly to the display. When there is no mix switch, the dGPU does not have direct access to the monitor and instead has to pass off the render information to the iGPU that then displays it to the monitor. The latency due to this depletes some of the dGPU's performance. However if a computer did not have a mux switch you can still get the best performance by plugging the HDMI or Display port directly to an external monitor to remove the iGPU out of the equation. I hope this helps.

That could've been the issue. I don't know all the circumstances surrounding therealonega's unit. I use the laptop mostly as an ultra portable like you mentioned with dGPU off so I haven't experienced anything problematic yet. The Asus ZenBook S13 has a 67wHr, the CPU is trimmed down and it has OLED so you will get better battery life with that. The X13 has a 61wHr battery but the 6800HS has a higher TDP and a brighter screen so it will have slightly less battery life. If this is merely a purchase for productivity only, then I suggest the ZenBook.

    Hi, man. Love your review on this laptop, it's very useful for me. I'm interested in this laptop. May I ask a question? In my country, there's a Ryzen 7 6800HS version of this laptop with only an integrated GPU (at $1431). But there's also the Ryzen 9 5900HS version with the RTX3050 dGPU for an additional $116. Is the Ryzen 7 version enough? Would the Ryzen 9 version be more worth it for long term? I'm going to use the laptop for programming, running VM, video editing, and I don't do heavy gaming. Btw, thanks in advance!

      Hey Antares. Thank you for watching as well as commenting. For what you listed the version with the 6800HS and iGPU (680M RDNA2) should be more than sufficient for your needs. It can also do some decent 1080p gaming. As long as you're not an avid AAA gamer who prefers maxed out visuals, you should be good. However, I will suggest that wherever you decide to get your laptop from offers a refund policy in case you are not satisfied with your initial purchase and want to try another one. I hope this helps.

      @@BXbomber718 it took a good couple months for it to show up but basically it started not being able to load a few games and it quickly spiraled into many games not working to the point where eldin ring wouldn't run it properly and the adds wouldn't show up. The lap top it self started crashing the camera was super hazy becuase they havnt glued the screen on properly and it became super evident as I owned the laptop that they put it on wring as the screen would start coming off and stop working. It's actully quite ludicrous. The orst part is the lap top gets so hot that it starts to melt the paint on the back plat OR the back plate is so unsecured that holding the damn this actually voids the warranty. Upon sending it back they tried to claim I opened the laptop but THAT IS A TOTAL LIE and upon opening the laptop best buy admitted that it was never opened. Asus actully broke the laptop further and attempted to send it back to me. I am watching this laptop fall apart and many channels that have reviewed it not actully really test this laptop to the selling points it promised and when it is tested it actually falls apart. But none of this can be tested fairly becuase it lasts up until it totally melts down. Without actually taking it into the turbo on armory crate (which btw came with a host of issues on its own. This laptop is not optimized properly on shipping and it has massive issues. I am actually collecting information to form a lawsuit at this point and even the people at best buy admitted what asus and best buy tried to pull was totally illegal.
