What a powerful scene. A very realistic pictures that you can imagine. If you’re the one who caught the fish, make a fire which is a very hard thing to do nowadays. Only high skills can pull off.
Tis very simple. You do all the work, you reap the rewards. If you want to be generous and be charitable to others, that is entirely on you. But when it comes down to survival, you better now be reliant on someone and hope they will help you.
I guess that’s the thing, people like Abigail work hard doing terrible jobs and get sweet FA for it while others who do BS work like “influencing” get the rewards. This effectively turns the table on that reality.
I think the point of this scene was that a product can not be produced without the labor of the worker. Abigail is the worker and everyone else is free loading off of her (bosses, C.E.O)
@@victorl3969 in a company everyone contributes. Even the board. The risk is all theirs. In this scenarion the toilet manager is the CEO, she has the knowledge. Everyone else is the worker, your pay is proportional to what you contribute to the company
Finally a homegrown Filipina actress who is not born and raised in America is conquering Hollywood! Oh my God I can't wait for her Hollywood movies and tv shows.
If that’s the only reason you like her that’s a genuine tragedy. She’s an amazingly talented actress, her line delivery was dead on, her character was well portrayed because of her beautiful mind. Her abstract ability to make and portray art has nothing to do with her skin color. I really wish people would stop obsessing over this.
Filipino people are honestly so sweet and lovely, every single one that I've met and worked with. Dolly was fantastic! Her character was really refreshing and fascinating....I think this was the best example of diverse casting that I've seen. Loved it!
She will definitely get there just wait for it. Oscar has their requirements and qualifications. You have to be humble in a way you have to like Oscar awards but not so much. Michelle yeoh is the first asian best actress and soon Dolly de Leon will be the first Filipina. Omg
woah this is hollywood you talking about they just now let in black people it will take at least another 10 to stop being racist to asians at least on the outside
Filipino culture is matriarchal. Women are very capable, especially for their families, at least the traditional ones. When I was 6. My grandma would climb a coconut tree to get coconuts. She was already nearing 70 then. LMAO.
And yet we do it all the time. Janitors, fast food workers, truckers, etc are looked down on as lazy, stupid, even criminal. Managers are seen as powerful and brilliant to a fault. It *is* stupid though, absolutely
With all those glamorous dress and fancy title, once you're outside the civilization that pampers you, its survival of the fittest. The strong tramples the weak. Your titles, position don't matter.
Because in that moment there all pretty much dogs then depend on there master to survive you can’t cook you can’t fish or survive in the wild your at the mercy of those who can.
This is very simple if you are the captain of the yacht then you are used to high salary by being a captain, but what will happen to you if you cant do basic living skills? Like catching fish, cooking food like what people in the 3rd poor country would do.
You better start sucking up to those who can when your on the yacht your more qualified because your skill and education but now your on a stranded island you now have to accept that the one with the most survival skill is the one who is in charge.
Bottom line... When money means nothing.. What's important is knowledge... If you have no skills.. You have no value... Better to keep mouth shut and learn
im a filipino i work here in europe... some problems that my jefe and the owner of the shop doesnt know ho to solve but im the one who is being creative and solving their problems here... why because im filipino i have so many tricks in my sleeves.. sometimes my boss and the owner depends on me because i always find a solution that they cant even think of it..
If you think societal hierarchy is still relevant while stranded on an island, you wont last long. Same goes for people who think physical money still has value during a zombie apocalypse.
my favorite part was,
“We work on a yacht…”
“What yacht? Where’s the yacht?”
What a powerful scene. A very realistic pictures that you can imagine. If you’re the one who caught the fish, make a fire which is a very hard thing to do nowadays. Only high skills can pull off.
And they all just sat around the entire time, feeling sorry for themselves
add to the fact the people with her are very privileged rich people they are completely clueless about what to do

She’s going to get killed isn’t she?
That's not how a captain works. Everybody's supposed to work together she's a s***** captain.

By far my favourite scene in the movie. It was her "I'm the captain now" moment hehehe
That's an Oscar-worthy performance.
Shame on the Academy for not even nominating her.
Oh stop, It was a great performance but not oscar worthy.
She must be at list no binary to have chance😂

Abigail is so cute and adorable
Why it would even occur to you to think that your work hierarchy has any bearing outside your job is beyond me.

I would have *gotten rid* of that toilet manager, I dont like attitude.
Yea but in this specific situation if you had no survival skills you would be her biotch
And her attitude was warranted a soft cupcake like you can understand that
Then after 3 days you are like a wet puppy looking for food. 😂😂
And with your attitude, you starve and float away.😅
