    Coach said I'm fast, but not scholarship fast. Said that I'd find better luck in hurdles. I just turned into a sophomore, plan on buying a single hurdle, and running over that thing non-stop this summer break

      Keep in mind that the most important muscle is the one between your ears. I ran hurdles in college but definitely not for money…I wasn’t scholarship fast either. Track, and hurdles is a great sport that will teach you many life skills, like self-discipline, tenacity, self-confidence, attention to detail, etc. Use those to fuel yourself and your brain. Best of luck to you!

      hows it going?

    • @adEEux
      @adEEux 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@evjay9793 Actually great :D I have comfortable form on good days, and I ran frosh-soph and obiliterated my invitational. I was recently moved up to var, where I had actual competition. My form is good, but that's only cause I'm going slow enough to find a rhythm. I need to go my fastest possible now, and I'm not used to it. I run low 45 in 300 hurdles, as beginner hurdler sophomore (still havent ran a 110 because I'm too scared).

    Hi coach, I sent u a video a while back that u did a quick analysis on... I was going to update u and let u know our season is over, I was not able to 3 step any more than the first hurdle, so i eneded up 4 stepping the rest, but I am going to work on it slowly during the off season and see if i can't do it by next year, if u want I can keep u posted as I make progress. Thank u so much for your help btw!

    Hi coach, I’m an hurdler who is at the beginning of his career. My question is about my height: I’m 18 and I’m 176 cm tall (5 feet 9 I think, I’m sorry I’m European we have a different system😅), am I tall enough for 110m hs? I know that some hurdlers are around 175-176 cm high, but I would like to know your opinion about this😁

    • @acemethodcoaching9102
      @acemethodcoaching9102  ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Great question! You are tall enough. There are many examples of outstanding high school hurdlers your height. It gets more challenging if you compete after college with taller hurdles. That being said, taller hurdlers have a mechanical advantage. You’ll have to compensate by taking off and landing slightly farther. Good luck. Let me know if I can help.

      @@acemethodcoaching9102 Thanks for your answer. My age cathegory here in Italy usually run with hurdles which are 1 m high. I tried with a 1,06 m hurdle, which is the highest, and I can overcome it. But I’m aware that I will have to work more than higher hurdlers in the future. Now I’m not competing because I’m still learning.👍

    I tried hurdles for the first time at age 58, 60m with 5x36" hurdles. No training, cleared them all, looked ugly going over them but now I'm hooked. The good thing is now I'm older, the hurdles are lower only 33" but the spacing has changed a bit closer. 12m to first 8m in between. I take 9 steps to the first, 5 stutter steps in between because there is no way I can 3 step and 4 stepping means alternating takeoff legs. Only 5'10-1/2". I also do long ( 300m ) hurdles. I have only tried 100m hurdles twice, So far I can manage 5 hurdles before they get too hard and I have to step over them. I know jumping over slows you down but at my age, just completing a race w/o having to step over, still is more than most can do at my age. Any suggestions besides keep practicing?

    I'm 13 and 5'5. I started hurdling just recently! How close should I start jumping and how do I get a softer landing? Also, I've been doing a 8 step, should I do less or more?

      I'm going to say 5-6 feet. It would be much easier to answer if I could see a video. Go to acemethodcoaching.com/home-2/hurdling-home/ to see how to submit a video for review.

    Hi coach! When I go over hurdles, I have a habit of extending my hand on the side of my lead leg. Should I improve it? Also, when I land, the hand behind me throws my shoulder off balance. Are there any good ways to improve?

    How do I keep my arms straight without bringing it to far back to point where I’m unbalanced?

    • @acemethodcoaching9102
      @acemethodcoaching9102  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't want to ever straighten your arms when hurdling. When pulling back your lead arm, focus on pulling back your elbow. Send a video to acemethodcoaching.com/home-2/hurdling-home/ so I can give you a review.

    Hello so I see it says males jump from about 6 feet away what is the average for females my daughter is a hs senior about 5’10 she is already 3-stepping and last meet she ran a 15.2 100mm she doesn’t really have a coach and I’ve been trying to help her. I would love for you to analyze her if possible

    • @acemethodcoaching9102
      @acemethodcoaching9102  ปีที่แล้ว

      I should have been more accurate. A high school girl running as fast as your daughter would be closer to 7 feet away. Watch this video: th-cam.com/video/_DtyqctKosA/w-d-xo.html
