    Hmmm great challenge. He is doing so many things right but my guess is he is bringing his lead leg slightly to the inside when he goes over the hurdle instead of slight knee bend up and over. He is floating or not brining the lead leg down fast enough. His arms could use more of a 90 degree and pumping instead of going out to the sides. I would also say he needs to tilt his body forward a bit more instead of a small lean backwards between each hurdle. He is doing a great job though. Ahh to be young again. Can't wait to hear what you have to say.

    1. Lengthening stride into the hurdle causing the cut step to occur ahead of the hips 2. Leading with his lead foot rather than knee causing the lead leg to swing up at the hurdle preventing good forward posture 3. Arms are flailing wide and back behind the body 4. Athlete's posture is too upright over the hurdle so trail angle recovery is more difficult and as a result it is striking the ground ahead of COM on the back side of the hurdle, causing deceleration.

    His lead arm is crossing his body and trail arm is straight back. Arms could be better if they were close to his sprinting form. He is too high over the hurdle not attacking with his upper body. I don’t like his head leg’s foot because he is pointing his toes a sign he is not leading with his approach knee.

    Lead with the knee, trail arm in closer to the body and parallel to direction of running, little more lean into hurdle…thee is more, but that enough to improve him.

    From the angle of the camera it looks like you are taking bigger steps to get to the hurdle. It looks unnatural which means it probably doesn’t feel right. You should try to break that habit and try to figure out how many steps it takes you in between the hurdle but the it comes with time, practice, and confidence. That is just what it looks like from where I am watching. I run 300 meter hurdles so I might be wrong but that is just what I am seeing and might help you get faster. But you looks really with your form getting over the hurdle. Keep going and you can be really good 👍. Good luck.

    Never going to be a good hurdler with 4 steps. You also contradict yourself. You say land and be more vertical and then you say land and get feet down as soon as possible.

    • @acemethodcoaching9102
      @acemethodcoaching9102 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It’s not a contradiction. If, as you descend the hurdle, you push your hips forward to be more upright or vertical, your lead leg will drop down faster.

  • @Lduke32
    @Lduke32 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

    No the mistake is running out of gas and going 4 step instead of 3 step. Hurdlers need enough stamina so the actual race is easier to control. I recommend going slower for technique but get 10-14 hurdles in some but not all training.

My 5 stepping isn’t working for me as I’m getting too close to the hurdle. I’m only 5’2, is the chance of 3 stepping there for me? I run atleast a 13.5 in the open 100 and 20 secs in the 100h.

      I always suggest practicing with the hurdles pinched a little closer than race spacing. About 1 foot. This is a more accurate simulation of what the meat will feel like since you don’t have all your adrenaline. This will allow you to have good practices will help you have better races. Being able to hurdle with both legs is one of the most powerful tools you'll have running the 400mH. (Professionals actually switch legs from the beginning, not due to fatigue, for example sydney mclaughlin, allison dos santos). Now, for hurdlers like me who can't hurdle with both legs efficiently, using the third option mentioned in this video is the best. I take 15 steps between hurdles. I used to mantain natural stride lenght and switch legs once fatigue forced me to take one additional step, so I lost a lot of speed every hurdle I cleared with my non-dominant leg. I ran my fastest time the day I changed the strategy and intentionally shorten my strides to make to the next hurdle in two additional steps and clearing every single hurdle with my dominant leg. How do you know when to intentionally decrease stride lenght? Well, what worked for me was to do it as soon as I noticed that I had to stretch out to make it to the hurdle in the same number of steps as the previous hurdle, which meant thay fatigue had already shorten my strides, so right after landing I ran with shorter strides to make to the next hurdle in 17 steps and clear it with my dominant leg instead of 16 steps and switching legs
