Jaylen Brown Just Made One Thing Very Clear...

  • I don’t think there’s a player who did more for their reputation in these playoffs than Jaylen Brown. After a disastrous 2023 Conference Finals, followed by a controversial contract extension that made him the highest paid player in the NBA. People were down on Jaylen going into this season. However while his numbers were down this year compared to his 2023 all-nba season, it was clear he became a significantly better player. And that showed in the 2024 NBA playoffs, where he won both conference finals and NBA finals MVP. What impressed me most about Jaylen in these playoffs wasn’t just about the numbers. It was about what he showed on tape. Because on tape, it looks like he figured a few things out.

It's really quite simple why he was not. The voters didnt want to take the money away from Haliburton. They gave Jaylen his money last year. This year it was Hali's turn.

I love how Jaylen adds to his game every year. He was not the finals MVP but thats OK Im happy for him still. He was the 3rd best player in the finals and that's still pretty good. I bet somehow he comes back even better next year. Bet he goes nuts and next year he earns another Finals MVP

This is what is wrong with a lot of fans, people come here because they are Jaylen Brown and like any fan, you are going to praise the player; but you have others that want to discredit Brown because supposedly Tatum is the better player. Both Brown and Tatum are great, and each played their role in winning the championship. I prefer Brown because over the past 7 years, his hands have been tied by the Celtics, NBA and the Media in order to make Tatum into a top 5 player, and not at one point has Brown been critical because he has always seen himself as a team player. Over the years, people have been very critical of Brown because they say in a lot of games he disappeared, but in 95% of those games he disappeared because he was put in the corner so that Tatum could become a better player. The only difference between Brown and Tatum is the opportunities they have gotten, and next year those opportunities for Brown will increase and his confidence is up the roof, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is mentioned in the MVP conversation. For Tatum I do think he is a Top five player, and next year he will probably move back for consideration as a top 3 player, with he was for almost two years...

The more I watch the commentary on Lucas finals appearance. The more I realize these people really do not play basketball and don't really have a clue what they're talking about. Luca did not get his. He was inefficient and he turned the ball over left and right. he was left in single coverage for most of the game and all he could muster was step back jump shots, he was by far the worst defender on the court. An inefficient turnover machine who can't defend how is that getting yours...? I get it the guy average the most points in a series but he also took by far the most shots in the. I was saying Luka doncic was overrated well before he made it to the finals because he can't play defense this finals proved everything I said about Luka doncic to be right. He's a horrible defender he's a horrible off-ball play. He's a bad teammate the kind of guy who doesn't get back on defense. A big spoiled baby but since he scores 25 points a game I guess we could ignore all of that. The fact that people think Luka doncic should have won MVP of the finals is hysterically funny. how low are we going to set the bar for these so call superstar.

He was still very good even if it was below his standard. And the fact that this was below his standard speaks to how special of a talent he is

@@TerranovaBasketballStudy but being a crybaby and whining all the time to the referees is the standard that Luca has set being a bad defender is the standard Luka has set. Being a bad free throw in 3-point shooter is the standard that Luca has set. For years I said Lukas number is telling me he's not that great of a three-point shooter you know what the rebuttal of most people was because he takes difficult shots it brings down his 3-point percentage. Instead of criticizing him for taking stupid shots they made an excuse. The only thing that was below Luka doncic standard in this finals what is his overall inefficiency but everything else is who he is the finals just Shined a big spotlight on it.

Lol funny how dumb yall look for creating a false narrative about brown after playing that game 7 with tatum hobbling an limping around instead of sitting on the bench where he should have been....brown played 4 on 5 va a zone all game with tatum completely useless. Lol this IS the same brown....yall just too late an been to obsessed with the 2nd best player on the team jayson tatum....brown is top 5 in the league because he IS the best 2 way superstar by a mile....no different than when most considered kawhi the best in the league when he was younger.....find me another player that can guard Luka doncic over 150 posessions in the NBA finals...2X more than anybody else on his team....in those 150 posessions....the mavs offensive rating was an awful 84.8%....in 150 posessions in 5 games with brown on him...luka was only able to get up 25 shots....and make only 11 of them.....that leaves 125 posessions...he did NOTHING with brown on him. There Is not another player in the league that can do that..luka fried everybody else on the Cs...especially tatum...the mavs were hunting tatum with luka......and also go down an avg 21 5 5....and also have 8 steals...and 5 blocks. Yall better wake up...your LATE. Alot of people been told ya brown is the best player on the Cs

He's not, you are factually wrong, just like basically everything you wrote in this word salad diatribe. He just looks like the best player to your untrained eyes because you have no clue what you're looking at. Entire defensive gameplans are made to stop Tatum, so Brown sees worse defenders and weaker coverages. If you want to know who the best player on a team is, just look at who opposing defenses try to stop.

    • @nickgilday8946

@@LogjammerDbaggagecling-qr5ds best OFFENSIVE player on a team yes. Not arguing that JB is better than JT. I don't even really care, but it's important to note JT is the better offensive player not necessarily best defensive player.
JT does see more defensive pressure, but its also half assed for the most part. More of a show than a true commit. Jaylen sees his fair share as well. JT has also easily been baited to low percentage shots when he's seeing said pressure so teams are rewarded for doing it. On the same token, teams had been rewarded for late traps on JB to take advantage of his propencity to try and split double teams and turn it over.
This year both JT and JB improved where they needed to - JT has taken a lot less bad shots when defenses pressure him, and transitioned to be a much more willing passer. JB has become a better ball handler, playmaker, and finisher at the rim while also not forcing his way through double teams.
The "untrained eye" comment goes both ways here. Its not as simple as they doubled JT because he was better, they doubled him because it worked to their advantage more based on BOTH his tendancies and Browns deficiencies.. JT saw a lot more early double teams and JB saw more trap late doubles. BOTH players improved on those areas which is why you have seen such a change. Teams are not going to see the benefits of doubling JT like they once did. They also won't see the benefit of the ball finding Jaylen as they did before too. It's truly a lose/lose situation for them.
