Coach Joe Mazzulla told his team to defend without fouling. Meaning the Celtics defended Dallas, played 1 on 1, and guarded their man holding Dallas to under 100 points 4 out of 5 games. The Celtics forced Dallas into difficult contested shots....that's what happened..✅️👀☘️

Against any other opponent Dallas can hide Luka on the defensive end. Against Bostons offense there's nowhere to hide. I'm a Cs fan but I'm a Luka fan as well. I'm sure he learned some valuable lessons in this Finals series and will come back even better next year.

There are definitely other players who aren't intimidated by Luka, but few as talented and willing to put up consistent performances like Brown has been.
JC in the 4 lost games in the finals Luka scored 19 points total in the 4th quarter of the 4 losts, because he's slow, no lateral movement why everybody was blowing by him and out of shape panting in the 4th quarters, so of the shortfalls he can only improve his conditioning...............this is what he can look forward to for the rest of his career...
Everything Jaylen Brown is saying validates the play of Sam Jones! Sam's stats weren't all world. His defense an all-around game was certainly all world and most importantly he was clutch !, he had four game-winning shots in game 7 of the finals😮 good for 10 championships!

Lukas problem is the game has two directions. He's a liability on defense and a big part of why they lost this series. Being a professional athlete includes taking care of your body and putting effort in tackling your weaknesses. JB is a great example for that. Working his ass off all summer. Losing some weight for a chip should be a no brainer - for a professional athlete. And the constant bitching and whining is pathetic.

If I'm Dallas I'm looking to get a high quality shooting guard and move Luka to the forward position so he doesn't have to work as hard on offense. There's plenty of talent at that position they just need to find one that plays good defense. Then let Gafford and Lively play on the floor together. That duo needs to play 65 combined minutes per game instead of 43. Then just find a good big to back them up. That all happens and they're a 62 win team next year and going 7 games in the finals instead of losing in 5.

How the hell do you annoint a player, Luka is not only unskilled on defense, lazy on rotations, doesnt screen with any force, has the highest number of drive bys on him, and utterly fails at closeouts...as better than a highly impactful 2 way player? Almost every top player plays at least competent defense....and yet Luka gets a pass. Next season, if Luka doesnt change and get some d....and he hasnt shown any trend toward maaking any improvements most of his career on defense...maybe the analyst lag will catch up. Basketball is 2 parts ...not just one.

Kawhi literally sonned Luka 2v1 2x(look up Lukas stats vs Kawhi 1v1 and vice versa in those series they faced each other) in the playoffs, third time in the post season he only played 1 game which he won.
Kawhi went to game 6 and 7 vs luka who averaged 32-35ppg.
If Luka was on those clippers rosters instead of Kawhi they make at least one finals since 2020

Honestly I think it should be a Danny statue instead. At at the time, no one would have imagined the Nets becoming so terrible so quickly. Normally, good teams in large markets and a desirable location draw free-agents to help keep things going. The Celtics brass was anticipating a bunch of picks in the teens at absolute best. I give more credit to Danny showing willingness to part with beloved stars on a gamble like that.

Boston's squad was too deep for Luka to do anything about. Pritchard, White, Holiday and Tatum was also on him all game aside from JBrown. Mazulla put whoever's fresh to defend Dondo and also hunted him like a thropy-animal in every offensive possession. It was really sad to watch Luka having to carry the ball up, play through a double team and then face Tingus Pingus in the post 20 seconds later, then Brown, then Tatum, then Holiday, then Smith, then Pritchard pullinng up from the logo, then Tingus pulling up from the logo it was relentless. Doncic was tired, injured and alone. Kyrie is a joke.
