    Just had the same recurring problem with my 1995 D 21. $10 for the O ring kit and changed the O ring that like yours, was slightly flattened. Just got home from running the truck to operating temp, and lo and behold; the idle is smooth as glass. Note: I also changed the PCV just in case ($2.99 at AutoZone). Problem fixed for $13 and 30 minutes at home. Thanks for the video.

    My 94 Pathfinder (engine wise is the same thing) has just started doing this. Watching the rpm's on yours looks just like mine does. I'm going to try this and see if it fixes it. Thanks for posting.

      Please let me know if it fixes yours. You may also try some maf spray cleaner.

      @@ktoutdoor well, so far so good. Idled solid for 30 minutes. Cleaned the MAF sensor and replaced that o ring. Also a bit more throttle response on the initial throttle.
      Hopefully tomorrow I'll be doing a real world driving test.

      @@ktoutdoor after driving to work and back a few times I can say the old girl is running pretty well. Thanks again for the video. Cheap and easy fix to what seemed like a big problem.

    My 94 v6 3.0 4x4 is doing the same thing, but mine is going to 2k rpm. Im going to give it a try

      Check o ring and clean the MAF plus look for any loose vacuum lines

    I just picked up a Nissan Caravan Royal ‘96 (JDM) which houses the same motor. I’m looking for motor oil and filter recommendations for the VG30e, if you can offer any recommendations?

      I have put 112,000 miles on this truck I have always used mobile1 10w 30 with a wix oil filter changed every 3000 miles i put in new timing belt at 75,000 just for good measure this is a interference engine so you don't want to break a timing belt valves will bend.

    Have a 300zx that does this VG30 only happens after it rains though any thoughts?

      Mass air flow sensors seam to go bad over time i would start there at least clean it.. but with its age replacement may be better. Not sure of the testing procedure for that model.

    My 95 2.4L does this but only after it's warmed up and you start driving. Anyone know what's going on?

      Try spring some carburetor cleaner around intake fittings and vacuum hoses and see if the engine idle changes.
