Dude your stuff is amazing, underrated - but not for long!

damn straight soon i'll blow up fr 😤 thanks for the support. feel free to comment anything you'd like to see in future videos 🕺🏼
13:16 Absolute banger of a video lesson! Just wanted to point out "7 over 4 polyrhythm" might be better understood as "7 over 4 (8) polymeter". I was a little confused at first but then realized what you were doing. I know correcting someone's words always comes off as pedantry, but I'm just really trying to help learners to separate the ideas of polyrhythm and polymeter better.
I’m just explaining the exact way I’m doing things. Accenting phonetics of the outside number within 4 or what ever number I want to use is just so easy to do for me. I’m literally obliterating 3s and 4s over 37/16 rn lol I’m actually amazed at how easy all this stuff became for me because I really used to suck at drums and especially odd time signatures 💀 that shii was unfathomable to me until I started using the method I use
Yes, Polymeters and Polyrhythms are technically slightly different things. But if you are thinking long-form, the downbeat of each 7/16 grouping, combined with the downbeat of each 4/4 measure, creates a very slow 7:8 (7 over 8) polyrhythm. So if you want to get extremely technical about it, he isn't wrong to call it a polyrhythm. I do feel too many musicians these days are getting caught up in semantics, but it can be important to ask for definitions in certain cases. Personally, I like to use 7:8 to imply polyrhythm, and 7;8 to imply polymeter, though I prefer to see them as 2 sides of the same coin as they seem to imply the same thing.
@@JCTHays There is definitely an interrelation between the words for sure, but to me, it's just about using that word that conveys the correct meaning the quickest. When he said polyrhythm, I was legitimately confused for a sec thinking we were going to superimpose septuplets somewhere over the bar. Once I realized what he was doing, I was perfectly fine, but I'm just thinking for those who know less about these topics, the clarity can be useful.
Bro. . . this is insance. I have never seen such a great collection of exercises and odd time sigs in a person...ever.
I suggest that if you want to get your name out there, go the estepario route and make some yt shorts about some covers.
you can add your own odd time sig flare and even start unnecessary beef. (if you think you built different.) Love your contribution to the drum community and would love to see you get big.
Dude, those edits are fire 😎🦾 Also I found this lesson quite enjoyable! Earned yourself a new sub🤙
Glad you liked it. Already working on the next video 😎🕺🏼
