I was a big fan of this shows. He was so authentic, honest...how could anyone not love this guy. I still miss him, I know depression and it's hard as hell...he fought as long and as hard as he could. I realize this was his choice, but it breaks my heart. I pray he is at peace now. .I don't think he knew how loved he was. So very sad. 💔🙏💔

Anthony Bourdain's shows made you feel that a good friend was guiding you through discovering & relishing really yummy food in the most unlikely places. Your passing has left a deep void in us that may never be filled. YOU ARE SO MISSED !
Watching an episode of one of Tony's shows meant a break from mundane reality of everyday struggles and stresses, and immersing one self in another culture and food was a form of escapaism for me. Tony was always interested in cultural, political and historical influence on people he interacted with and their food. There was always something to learn from Tonys insights and not just about food. Taking my better hakf on annual holiday overseas, usually somewhere in Asia we always followed Anthonys trail and really enjoyed the experience. When Tony passed away he has taken one of my few simple joys and pleasures in life with him. I cant watch another episode the same way that used to. I wonder if he really understood how much of an impact he had on people and how much joy he brought to peoples lives. It seems like there is not that much to look forward to in life and when things return to normal, holidays will never be the same again. I discovered the love of travel through Tonys show and love of simple local food. Ive learnt that you dont need to go to a fancy restaurant to enjoy a great meal. Sometimes the best food is served in a run down eatery where you are sitting on a plastic chair and eating with plastic cutlery. Tony has inspired me and tought me how to enjoy simpke things and to enjoy a simple life. Its a shame Tony couldnt enjoy his life to stick around for a little longer
This is so moving. I just finished the book: kitchen confidential. I wanted to know more about the guy, hence youtube videos. He is the last person I would think of who would commit suicide
Depression is very real and very devastating. I'm now trying to emerge with medication. RIP Anthony. He was so awesome showing us to not be afraid of the world. I miss him so much and it does remind me that my depression can be fatal.

Anthony Bourdain did an episode of No Reservations in my country, Portugal. I'll never forget him talking, not only about our (wonderful) food, but also about us, the Portuguese. Some people commit suicide because they are chronically depressed and feel hopeless. They will say that they often think of suicide and may have made a number of attempts. Then there are those that commit suicide in response to a recent life event. Loss of a job or a relationship. It is more on impulse because they feel overwhelmed and they cannot endure the loss. As I recall Asia Orgento had met a much younger man than Tony and was posting photos all over the internet of them together. I heard Asia interviewed after Tony's suicide. She did not seemed bereaved at all. Just wanted to clear her name and let people know it is not her fault. She was about 20 years his junior and I would say that was his mistake. He was no doubt infatuated with this younger woman and couldn't accept that she was now with someone else.
The only other tragedy other than this man's death, and oh yes, he was a connoisseur, to say the least. He would've wanted a successor - an eloquent, talkative, culinary mind to follow suit in his footsteps. Man or Woman. You can watch the tumbleweed tumble along for now. For a long time.
The association of alcohol and drugs with suicidal thinking and behavior is both causal and conductive. The subhective state of hopelessness is key to the disposition to actual suicides. Alcohol and drugs are influential in providing a feeling of hopelessness by their toxic effects, by possible manipulating of neurotransmitters responsible for the mood and judgement and by disruption of interpersonal relationships and social supports. The identification of alcohol and drug use and dependence is critical to the proper assesment of suicide. According to studies, over fifty percent of all suicides are associated with alcohol and drug dependence and at least 25% of alcoholics and drug addicts committ suicide. Over 70% of adolescent suicides may be complicated by drug and alcohol use and dependence. Because alcoholism and drug addiction are leading risk factors for suicidal behavior and suicide, any alcoholic or drug addict should be assessed for suicide, especially if actively using alcohol or drugs.
I'm not sure what you are pointing out relative to Anthony. His toxicology report stated low level of alcohol, no mention of drugs as he had and still was "clean".
I like many have a deep appreciation for Anthony Bourdain. And I am in full support of the ME TOO movement. But this report is egregious and severely negligent in an attempt to completely omit some ugly truths..such as the Asia Argento backlash with paying off her own accuser of sexual misconduct. This is a poor, shallow report. Why? Because the author doesn't want to dilute their selfish feelings or fabrication of truth? Shameful and manipulative.
What pissed me off about his suicide was that he spend years showing us how amazing the world was, writing poetic and insightful commentary about how the world is beautiful, making us all want to experience that, hoping we could experience that, giving us something to aspire to... only to see its biggest champion throw it in the trash and sign off. Illusion, so carefully and honestly crafted, destroyed.
Clearly, he didn’t like what he did for a living enough not to kill himself. Let this be a lesson to those who know how to give love, but don’t know how to receive love - much less seek help when they need to. I’m still a fan of his magnificent books and programs, though. RIP
Its almost 6 am and I did not have a shut eye yet. Do not want any sleeping pills or whatever. Folks, what happened to Anthony is very very simple: having traveled 265 days a year left no time for his real love Asia Argento. So he felt life is simply passing him by... No reason to continue. He just turned off that TV - thats how I feel about death. Hope this helps.
Not quite! He bailed put his girlfriend who was being blackmailed with exposure for sleeping with a 17- year old, underage boy she used to act with followed by public photos of her " canoodling" with a younger French journalist on the?streets in Rome. Bourdain was both betrayed & publicly humiliated. He just couldn't take anymore of life's disappointments!

MAHAL where are you at I ♥️🌶️U i mean it from the bottom of my AMERICAN heart association 🇺🇸👍👍🌴
You left out the part when Chef was shamlesy murdered.
They had an open relationship 🙄
Exactly….
I liked his first book, seemed like a good guy, but I have a hard time watching people eat.
Food & Travel. Anthony Bourdain's Life. No-offence, but if I had to live in the United States, I'd kill myself too. United States food is illegal in Australia, and in most countries.
His suicide was a terrible injustice to his daughter.
Argento killed Bourdain indirectly
@Keith1974 he was also a depressed and complicated person that unfortunately hooked up with a crap human being like her at the worst time possible.
Jason Tran & Tomas Marrero Misogynists, you are.
CIA is Langley va
I loved his shows and him. I hope they find who killed him!

Asia was a horrible influence on bourdain. I saw on the roadrunner documentary, that he would fire people that criticized her.
I am simply not 100% certain I believe he killed himself the man was fun interesting and really on the ball loved by many. May he be blessed
Paid off Asia Argento’s own abuse victim from a man claiming she sexually took advantage of him - seems pretty lame hypocritical if you ask me
I really dont think he killed himself
I have a psychic gift and get visions of 2 men killing him. I hope he's at peace wherever he may be.
Me too. I really don't believe it was suicidal. He was so happy with his life but he knew too much.
@@tyruswarwick2508 yes agreed
READ MY COMMENT TO KUYA SAM please, I agree flat out, I have a little background to offer, perspective and believe for several reasons forensically and psychologically this was murder.
@@tyruswarwick2508 what is it that you think he knew too much of?
@@deendrew36 my friend worked with him.
