I went to howes cavern a couple years ago, before I was interested in geology. I bought the motherlode bag and got a 2-3 pound amethyst, and some other stuff I lost. thankfully I still have the amethyst in my collection. im coming here on january 7th and im gonna buy a few bags. wish me luck!. great video by the way.
Wow what a video.Very well done. I was there over 50 years ago. I was there with my mom and grandmother . I remember the ride down the elevator and the 52degree down at the bottom.We rode in the boat. I never will forget when our guide told us in emergency we could climb out of the boat and walk out in to a quarry at the end. Looks like a lot of changes since then :-)
This place is WELL worth a visit. I will never forget it. In “ The Winding Way”, there was a little boy with his Grandpa. Grandpa had a belly. The little boy kept saying “ Are you gonna get stuck, Grandpa? Grandpa just laughed and said he was fine. It’s a little bit hairy but it’s manageable and beautiful. The Lake of Venus- I wish it was my private swimming pool. Beautiful. The history is very interesting, the trip there has beautiful scenery, and it’s just a really cool place. ❤️
I love Howe Caverns... Just a great place to visit. My family just did Secret Cavern, down the road. Both have their appeals. I'm a bigger fan of the boat ride, however. And HC is still being explored
Agreed. Its a very cool place to visit. The cave is massive. I saw signs for the Secret Cavern as well. Heard there was a waterfall in that one. I agree Red, the boat ride was very cool. They did not turn the lights off this time for some reason. I was hoping to see what that would be like.
Dang I wish I had known about it. I spent most of my time in The Adirondacks. The Adirondack Museum is a must see as well. Long Lake is my favorite place.

i grew up in new york. my grandpa used to take us to howe when we were young. lots of memories from there

Looks like fun. Hopefully the lights don't all go out while you're in the middle of it.....may never get back out. You'll have to eat the tour guide.
They actually turn the lights off during the tour for a short time to give you a feel of what its like. Total darkness.
