  • How to create the best isometric grid for Adobe Illustrator!
    Isometric grid setups can be tidies and long, inaccurate or slowing down your computer. I created an isometric pattern that can easily be used on any document size, but I agree, it’s a bit long. So I tried to find a way to create an isometric grid that lightweight, easy and super fast to setup. So sit down and watch, you won’t regret a thing!

    The best isometric grid tutorial ever

    Awesome, very clever!
    A minor tweak i discovered by mistake:
    In the second effect, choose 2 copies instead of 1, this way you won't need a third effect as it will rotate 60° twice (60+60=120).
    Also, if you're like me, you might want a second grid for half-points. Duplicate the line and alter its effects: give it half the distance between copies (horizontal move) and double the amount of copies. differentiate between the two grids using line weight, color, opacity, etc.

    You also can set to 2 copies on the second step of the transform effect and will no longer necessary create another one, it will make the rest of the effect. (:

    Great video!
    I have an interesting question that might help as well.
    How can you make your grid follow the same angles as the
    Effect
    3D Extrude & Bevel Options.
    Position: Isometric ?
    I’ve been trying to figure it out for the last few hours but no luck! 👎🏼

    • @Vectortwist
      @Vectortwist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean, the grid I created follows the same angles as the 3D extrude. Maybe I am misunderstanding the question

  • @fakhruddinkagzi1912

    I need help... When I transform it and set copies to 100 it only shows 7-8 copies. No matter I increase or decrease the no. of copies it shows only 7-8 copies. Plz help...Also, I have the scale stroke and effects off.

    • @Vectortwist
      @Vectortwist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's really strange, maybe it has to do with the size of your artboard or length of your line?

  • @JamesCarneval
    @JamesCarneval 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is not to invalidate your precious advice but maybe you could even make a video about it, i don't mind.
    The easiest way to make an isometric pattern is to draw a triangle with the polygon tool, turn it 90°, make a pattern, tile type: brick by column, use the pattern and make a guide. that's all

    • @Vectortwist
      @Vectortwist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great suggestion! You are right, there are so many ways to create things!

  • @chkmtn

    Thank you for your tutorial. I hear an Indian accent when you speak, although your photo shows your Caucasian genetic makeup. Were you born in India or lived there for a time? And your last name is German! You are a citizen of the world, obviously. Be that as it may, I enjoy hearing English in something other than my flat, American midwest accent. (I am now subscribed to your site.) Chuck
