Isometric City Illustrator Tutorial

- In today's Adobe Illustrator tutorial I'm going to show you a really useful technique for creating isometric art, in particular an isometric city scene with loads of skyscrapers and bright neon lights. Usually, isometric illustrations would be drawn with the help of a grid, but this method makes it easy to build simple 3D objects in a range of shapes and sizes. Decorating the objects to turn then into skyscrapers is easy too. I'll show you how you can add colourful shapes to represent the windows, without having to worry about getting the angles right.

Thanks soon much!
I'm actually in school in graphic design!
Your help was pretty helpful!
Now I can take my project to the next level
For anyone not seeing the same options (like Map Art) on the latest version of Illustrator, you can go to Effect > 3D and Materials > 3D (Classic) > Extrude and Bevel (Classic) to get to the same menu shown. Or you can use the new 3D and Materials panel, click on Materials, then Graphics, and add/move your windows around the object there.
thank you - just spared the world from listening to me have a massive tantrum :)
This is a game changer. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

next labbel bro!
Hello, thank you for the tutorial. Do you have any advice for rescaling the buildings once done. When i try, everything moves and scales on its own. Thank you.
Wao❤😍
🔥
at 9:00 if you are struggling to grab one corner to curve (I kept curving all corners despite clicking one), try to double click instead!
Was obviously an awesome tutorial 3 years ago but sadly I can't follow it with the newer version of Illustrator - had to abort - will go and look at your library to see if you have added an updated version - might be a good idea to remove this one now maybe.
may be "monument valley " in future
Hello, I loved the video but I have had problems since the window of map art does not appear
someone knows the shortcut key
hello where can you find reference to design this kind of stuff or you just draw it by your self then traced?
🤩🤩🤩
Hello, thanks for this. I get a msg on my laptop saying there is not enough RAM memory to process the look of the 3d illustrations (even with only 2 squares at 2:30 approx). Is this very heavy on a machine? I have 16 GB RAM. Anyway solution for this? Thanks
👍👍👍
4:24 looks like the location of Map Art has changed - I don't see it. 😕
Just found it! Go to 3d extrude > materials > either graphics or graphs (my Ai isn't in english) > your graphs > scroll down and you should find it. The resizing tool is a bit finicky tho
@@cldxp8083 Great!! Thank you!
Does 3d effect crate raster images?
❤❤
Does anyone have problems with the asymetric top while making the town bottom? Its weirdly buggy and I the rectangle doesnt have the top
I'm working on adobe 2023 and I can't seem to find the option to choose the sides to place the windows on.
Hello I have a problem with 3D
My 16-sided cube. I do not understand
Just to say your appearance panel is the lower left not right 🙂
Is Adobe Illustrator to only isometric 3D designer??
4:21 Illustrator 2024's way of mapping a symbol on a 3D shape is not very handy now. The 2020's version (like you are using) is waaaaaaaaaaay better!
