  • The Crispin Odey story is about greed, a culture of secrecy and alleged abuse. Odey was one of Britain's richest men and most successful hedge fund managers while allegedly getting away with assaulting and harassing women for decades. Odey Asset Management has started to unravel ever since an FT investigation into his behaviour. Read more at on.ft.com/3NYHq9E

As I have, the public needs to see this and work it out for themselves. 1. Boris Johnson's friend. 2. Kawsi Krawteng visits his home for lunch before the mini-budget is announced, which causes the pound to crash. 3. What's the odd of Odey shorting the pound before the mini-budget? 4. What are the odds that at some time soon, Kawsi Krawteng will be looked after by Odey? Are we meant to believe politicians are acting in the public's best interest?

Not defending this guy nor the FCA, who is a grotesque human garbage and FCA a second rate watchdog who hires people that don’t have the basic understanding of the financial markets, but what exactly did you expect the FCA to do? It doesn’t really have jurisdiction on investigating sexual assault allegations.

Every time one of these cases sees the light of day I wonder if this will be the one that starts the avalanche where more abused people come forward (this case can't be unique), where more malpractice is revealed, but it never seems to happen. The financial world ostracises the main actor(s), Odey in this case, and they become the sacrificial lamb, offered to appease outsiders and the press. Then the institutions concerned close ranks and carry on as normal until the next victims muster up the courage to come forward.
The FT and associates have done sterling work here, but the investigation can't stop; it should be broadened and intensified.

We hear countless such stories, but why do individuals in power who can see all this happening in front of them turn a blind eye and want to distance themselves once the stories come out. I say the entire leadership and any and every senior member who knew such behaviour was common should be punished for allowing this to happen.

I totally agree with you, Odey wasn't operating in a vacuum. EVERYONE knew what a lunch date with him would entail. It was a joke to them. When MEN stand up and stop being the little boys in the schoolyard and actual ADULT's taking responsibilities for the behavior of their sex, maybe women can live without fear in every aspect of their lives. Worldwide this needs to change, it is this way for women everywhere.

FT should also remember that as well as the bets that came off there were significant misses from Odey Asset Management. In 2016 Odey Asset Management correctly bet on the UK leaving the EU, incorrectly bet that this would then cause a global recession and Odey Asset Management lost nearly 50% that year.

Trial by Media. What he has alleged to of done is absolutely outrageous. The employees should have taken them to an Employment Turbinal obviously if five woman are bring claims for the same reason that would put way too much light on his behaviour. Allegations need to be confirmed and evidenced within the Legal setting and not by Media.

Jesus. No, did you follow the story and how difficult it was for the women to get a hearing within the company? Stop blaming the victims - especially for things they're not even guilty of. The FT piece was a last resort to expose a cover-up and a solidly evidence-backed piece of investigative journalism, doing precisely the job we expect of a free press at its best. If the company thought he had no case to answer, they should have addressed the allegations when they had the chance.

There could have been a romantic relationship that now she's trying to get revenge for not getting what she wanted. For all human history wealth and power has been sexy, why did that stop now? Or did it not stop but a great opportunity for revenge and self righteousness was given to women who don't get what they want.
