This video has been amended to correct the date at which Narendra Modi became Prime Minister of India.
In the previous version of this video a graphic at 3'06 showed a timeline of the key events in Mr Modi's career, it stated that he became prime minister in 1987, it should have said that he joined the BJP in 1987.
    We apologise for the error.

Could you add a similar comparative graph with the rise of other Indian Corporates like the Tata, Ambani, Infosys, HDFC, Jindal, Airtel, etc? I am sure each of them would have a similar growth story. If Mr Azim Premji became the richest person on the planet for a brief nanosecond, I am sure it had nothing to do with his proximity to the ruling dispensation at that time!

Stick to making logical points. However, I understand that this may be hard for people with limited cognitive ability.
Adani might very well be doing illegal activities (Round-tripping, etc.). I am not denying that. It is for the courts/regulatory bodies to decide. People with average IQ might get biased by media narratives. In democracies, people need proof to implicate someone. Again I am not saying Adani is innocent. But one needs to count him as one until proven guilty. Due to lack of resources from the regulatory body and SC which interests more with contempt of court cases than real ones, we as a country suffer. Weak regulatory body is a global problem. Just read about the examples I mentioned in my earlier post. If u are not happy with US examples, read about Credit Suisse).
All infrastructure projects need government help. Adani has had great relationships with several non-BJP CMs as well. Just do a basic google search of Adani and XXX (replace XXX with any CM you want).

I have been indian energy and infrastructure for 1.5 decades here are the facts:-
    1. In 2009 when I joined Energy sector, Congress had done bid for private players for energy. With land and coal assets being sold. My company (govt) had the most experience and the cheap plants but still all bids went to private players some of whom had no energy sector experience. All this manipulation done during Congress that lead to CoalGate and Spectrum Scams.
    2. If govt makes policy and you align hard to it to get benefit then its not benefit. Any infrastructure company can do that like Tata or Reliance. It is stupid to think that a country of 1.4 billion with rising middle class will not import products or take flights. Reliance has gained via internet expansion and Adani via Infrastructure.
    3. Basic of Logic Correlation is not equal to causation. The use of word "Virat Kohli" has increased by 9 times as Adani stock price (currently at 6 times) in last 9 years. Does it mean Kohli has ties with the prime minister? The share of asian paints have risen faster than Adani Stock in last 9 years. Where is its Hidenburg report? Even Transport Corporation of India has better performance than this without being a household name.

    • @iboyyobi1543
      @iboyyobi1543 ปีที่แล้ว +12

You are trying to co-relate Kohli and asian paints with Adani group, which is wrong. Adani is an Infrastructure company and any Infra company grows only at a certain rate. Hindenburg's suspicion grew because they were growing at three times the expected rate in the last 2 decades. A growth that is impossible to achieve, plus it was alleged that their shares were being pumped by benami companies via Singapore and this operation was headed by his own brother. In a penny stock, they pump and dump but here they keep pumping and the heard mentality sets in where people jump on the band wagon and don't want to be left out. Once this is set in motion, more people will perpetuate this momentum into the stratosphere. Is tarah Adani bhai ban gaye world ke third richest! And no one in India can achieve this feat without the blessing of the ruling party, so you can add two plus two.

I find that the report glosses over the fact that Mr Adani has won several infrastructure projects through competitive bidding; that too from States that are ruled by political parties opposed to Mr Modi (including West Bengal which is ruled by Ms Moitra’s party and several that are ruled by Mr Rahul Gandhi’s party)

Share values can only fall if the last transacted price of the stock is on a declining trajectory...
Even if a short seller has put in sell options, unless the stock price starts declining by a massive sell off (significant enough volume to erode overall market cap of the company) we do not see such a drop in the prices...
If 90% of the stocks are held internally it cannot lead to such a huge erosion of market cap

superb stuff by FT. I'm sincerely worried about retail investors who put a lot of their money in any of their Adani stocks - same goes for mutual funds that millions of Indians invest in. couple that with a concerning pro-bull attitude riding high on the potential India growth story, and there's a lot of scope for manipulation. infrastructure companies in developing countries have historically been pretty murky and obviously very risky/uncertain (ask China). the real question is - what do you do when that uncertainty comes to the fore and your firm's safety is under question? with Adani, the answer increasingly seems to be "bailout". we know where that road leads.

    - They compared India and its businessmen to Russia and the Oligarchs, yet the income disparity is quiet stark in the US too.
    - They have still been unable to link Adani's success to Modi government.
One day we will find out if Black Rock, George Soros and other WEP types were successful in grabbing a chunk of Adani's business, all in the quest to control the 8.2 billion humans.
