Drove a c43 pre-facelift (the one without particle filter) and listened it outside next to a GTR, both launching hard. I kid you not, you could barely hear the gtr.

it was good when they made the a45 the most powerful 4cyl ever but it should have stayed in the A class

Very nice car. I like the exhaust tips taken from the facelifted model, that's what I would have done. I couldn't find a good 2014 generation which sounds much better, so ended up buying a facelifted one (2018). Very happy with this car, it's an ideal allrounder, very reliable and still has a great sound. I drove it to Norway and Montenegro in one year last year and I am taking it down to Spain and Portugal later this year.
How is the consumption on long drives (highway speed) ? I've seen some impressive numbers with this engine.

@@John-hb8vm Just had 6.9L/100km on a 130km drive last week with my 2017 pre-facelift on the Swiss highway. But my total average is 9.5L/100km mainly driving to work and back home on a daily basis and driving a 1100km round trip to Germany around 3-4 times a year.

At least MB was nice, and they gave free AMG badges.... it's something...
I own S205 C43 AMG Estate and S213 E63S AMG Estate, totaly agree with what you're saying. I spend much more time driving C43 than E63S.
I didn’t even realise this was the precursor to my C43. I have a late 2018 C43 estate. It’s the facelift - the pops and bangs seem more subtle to the pre-facelift. I agree with you and a lot of the commentators on here that the four cylinder is such a letdown. I cannot see myself upgrading to the four at the minute, seems to make no sense at all and I feel so lucky to have the six 😊
Got one just like this with full spec + sport exhaust 'n H/R springs and with the adaptiv damping it' s still comfy and superb handling... Absolute love It..👌🖤🏴☠️
205 43/450 is my favorite car, not "one of", but just it. I have a normal 2.0t 205 with amg line, regardless of its power, it is nice enough to me, with just a little bang in exhaust. I like it so much.

I love this C450 Wagon and agree with you the grille on this car looks so much better than the Panamerica grille that Mercedes uses now. But those pops & bangs would drive me crazy. I really like that V6 engine - that's what I have in my 2015 E400 & 2015 ML400 4Matic, both with mild ECU remaps. Excellent torque!
Oh, and one more thing about the latest interiors of all Mercedes - the displays and ambient lighting are getting so colorful and bright that the car looks like a disco at night. It's distracting when driving at night.

My dad has a C450 2015 with the upgraded e wheels. I feel these wheels on this example are a little small. My dad has also the amg night pack as well as the carbon fiber interior upgrade with the red interior. He doesn’t have the estate tho he has the sedan

How quiet is modern C class? I change my car about 18 month ago and I choose between W204 220CDI and W211 320CDI and my choice was W204 because it's compact and more economical and so on. But that older E class was more quiet when you driving 60 miles per hour on a highway. Just curious that are modern 2023 C class Mercedes' more quiet than older E classes?

Drove the pre-facelift c43, little to harsh suspension for me. I really liked the engine but the navigation screen is so dated. Even an BMW e90 has better infotainment.

I would love to own a C400 Estate 4matic with a Stage 3 with bigger Turbos, without AMG Package + small rims, basicially looks like a C200 with 500hp
Not only the displacement of the engine. Even it is a downgrade from v6 to L4, but the m139 still a good pieces. But why does it going slower than before?

I used to have a C43. True, no launch control but you can definite brake-boost it to launch faster.
BMW owner here but this is what Mercedes should look like... Normal interior if you take care you can keep quality.. todays mercedes are shit not even luxury anymore
In the EU we have to get used to boring new cars unfortunately.. Now we still get hybrids (small ICE with electric), but in just a few years time we'll have nothing left but silent and heavy EV's as new "sports" cars.. Sure there's still the current stock of older cars, but I fear they'll eventually get banned as well or forced to run fully synthetic fuels that will ruin the older engines not built for it..

I agree: absolutely ridiculous. It's like how nearby when I hear the most ridiculous pops and crackles it's always some horrible 4-cyl fwd Volkswagen Group hatchback while the many Ferraris, Aston Martins and other supercars who often drive past don't make such ridiculous sounds.

I think blaming AMG is a bit risky. I'm pretty sure that AMG would also like to have the old engines still in the segment, but for emission reasons, etc. is no longer sustainable. You can not neglect these high penalties of the EU, AMG must act so.
Of course it is sustainable. Many cars sold with 6 and 8 cyl still. And more.
True that is the same with Porsche as they just unveiled the new facelifted cayenne however the Turbo GT model wont be sold in the UK because it too exceeds the UK emissions

Absolutely, totally incorrect!! There is absolutely NO truth to that false excuse. None at all. Many car manufacturers are able to make V12, V8 twin turbo, 6-cyl twin turbo PHEVs which EASILY fulfil emissions regulations and EASILY are under decent CO2 levels too.
The way the (corrupt) emissions tests have been designed means that any PHEV system will reduce the car's overall emissions so much that the internal combustion engine doesn't have almost any bearing at all. It's only about how large the battery is = how many km it can be driven on the fake "Zero" emissions (even though Ffe München and many other research institutes have proven many ICE cars to be far below EV emissions if they are fueled by even slightly lower-emissions fuel. And EVs are NOT zero overall, not even near zero).
Look at all the supercars and huge, massive Porsche and Mercedes PHEVs with twin-turbo V8s and 6-cylinder engines which easily pass emissions regulations and have lower official CO2 numbers than non-PHEV little 4-cylinder engines...
And that's without even trying! I'm sure that most people would want a 8, 10 or 12 cylinder engine or even just 6-cylinder which has been designed to be as low-emissions as possible if that's what's needed. It is absolutely 100% certain that it's possible to make a 6-cyl engine with lower emissions than Mercedes' extremely high-strung 4-pots. Hell, they could go the Prius-route and make the 6-pot an Atkinson-cycle engine to lower its consumption and emissions... Mercedes could easily make a 2-litre 6-cylinder engine version.
No, it's all about cost savings, Mercedes wanted to only have one engine size in the new model to make it simpler to design and cheaper to produce. I hope Mercedes really has their "Bud Light" moment with this clown stuff they're trying to push and they get a huge financial hit from it.

C450 has different transmission then c43
That interior also has very bad quility feel. Nothing of the old MB left. I'm pretty sure that "aluminium" is painted plastic... of what I can remember from the last time I sat in one at the dealer. Everything felt creeky and brittle to the touch.
It was the opposite: Mercedes had increased their investment into that model, and had genuine metal buttons for example which very few other cars have ever had.
I agree that in places there could be improvements like that large centre console lid being fine and long-lasting but still feels flimsy, but calling it bad quality overall is just incorrect. Compared to what?
@@pistonburner6448 I cant remember feeling anything "metal" in that car... Are you sure about that? I just remember chrome painted plastic. Something that could be interpreted as metal at a distance. As long as you didnt touch it.
What you feel though is when touching the whole instrument panel and it flexes and creeks.. Everything on it. Everywhere. I'm not saying its worse than other cars. But its just not what MB was in the 80/90's that I grew up with. That was what you would see in other much cheaper cars. And then you got back into the w123 and everything felt like a real car again instead of a childs toy.
Its the same with the door handels on the outside.
Maybe that C-class is better than the prior one. I dont remember how it felt.
But generally what I've seen at the dealership has been a noticable decline in interior quality feel since at least the w212.. if talking e-class.
But you could see cheapening already starting to happen from w123 to w124 model shift.
@@martinsv9183I own one, most of it was metal. The only non metal part is the one on the bottom of the center console. The buttons and door handles and everything else is metal. Gets very cold to the touch in winter, very hot in summer.
@@martinsv9183 At least the window switches are metal. And I believe the metal interior trim pieces for the ones ordered with that option are metal as far as I know.
I get it: there's always a rumour that goes around which people then love to repeat. I've heard that "everything squeaks when you push it" story so many times...don't believe everything you hear, at least not literally and to the extreme.
It's so funny when people complain that the car's interior isn't at an absolute Rolls-Royce level and then they dress like a slob and live in a cheap rented dump, haven't eaten in a luxury restaurant in months or years and have absolutely no 'high luxury' in any aspect of their lives... So funny to hear people talking about cars in this price class and pretending that nothing but the most absolutely high luxury will do!! Literally driving with a 4-pot engine and criticising panels you never even need to touch maybe moving a slight bit when you push them hard!
Yes, in a few panels of the Mercedes W205 when you press on them they are not rigid, but how do you even know that's a bad thing? Not every part of every cars is supposed to be or needs to be rock-hard... Some places have soft-touch materials and some spots where people lean on them they need to be rigid, like the arm rest area. And I already said that the one panel in the dash feels a bit rickety but it lasts perfectly well and functions perfectly well, as well as in many trim options it looks absolutely fantastic...so how is that supposed to be some disaster?

@@martinsv9183 I'm absolutely not a Mercedes fan, but I did own one S205 C 350e and it was surprisingly pretty fantastic. I didn't even appreciate it fully at the point I sold it, it was only after I had owned several other cars of different brands again that I looked back at how good it was. All cars have their negatives like the C-Class had outdated looking graphics on the displays and not the best operating system...but especially now with the most modern ones it's far from the worst system too! Sure, BMW's iDrive beats it but compared to other brands even that old Merc UI was pretty ok.

Bro no way you get bored of those pops and bangs.. got my C43 Estate with performance exhaust and it just never gets old in sport+, but sometimes you have to buy flowers to your neighbors and chocolate for their kids as apology for early morning cold starts in winter.. but that is the only downside of the car

C 450 should be 440 hp. I disagree. Don’t get me wrong great nice car. But 450 to me should mean 450hp which is a shot at Mercedes and props to the owner to getting it closer to the way it should have come. I don’t get it if the car can be made more powerful via tune then why doesn’t it just come that way being turbo why must the owner have to play games. Is Germany really that restrictive? Although I gues one could say that about every single manufacturer. I guess that’s what makes shops go around. Nice car. Good video.

I really hoped Mercedes would implement the inline 6 into the C-Class but we missed the point in time. I'm definitely not spending AMG money on a four pot. Also BMW with their terrible designs encourages customers to divert to a Mercedes.
