Let me take this opportunity to officially declare any games played with Jen are vs. undead zombie hordes and skeleton archers with dread infernal siege weapons, with players trying to survive as the last bastions of hope for humanity in a reimagined alternate history version of the black plague!

This just arrived for me. Cannot wait to break it all out. This theme for me is my favorite when it comes to books, movies and TV. Very excited to see it on the table.
This game clicked for me like no other "euro" game has in the last few years. There are very few truly thematic euros, where the mechanisms and theme mesh together perfectly. After the Empire is one of them.

What other euros would you consider thematic? I’m curious because I’ve been shocked at times by how unthematic euros can be.

I was backing it when it was on Kickstarter but at the end of the month I didn't have the spare capital for all the things I was backing and decided to drop it. For me the battle part sounded cool, but the worker placement portion looked very generic. I might get it if the retail version is fairly priced, maybe (but it's still a maybe)

It is a beautiful game, very well balanced, great components, but somehow I dislike the destructive aspect of it. But I can see why you like it.
totally understandable, the game can hit you pretty hard, which is not for everyone.

nope, i stopped playing videogames almost a decade ago (last one i played all the way through was batman arkham city)
