Hey Rahdo! I was looking at getting a copy of this because I miss out on the KS. Do you think having the minis would make for a better experience or is it fine playing with the cubes in the retail version? This theme doesn't completely captivate my wife either but I think if she were able to see the soldiers instead of just cubes she might get into the game a bit more.

I have some old extra Risk board games I've picked up complete at second hand stores and garage sales for nickles. To use as gifts or replace armies as they get lost to time.
And I've debated using some of those figures to represent attackers instead of cubes.
And also, the little storage bins are handy 😉
Don't let the lack of figures deter you. I think the cubes work great, and I think a creative person could come up with their own tokens if they so desired.

Pretty, as it is to have access to so many Refugee and building cards, unfortunately, these are limited in the solo game: "Additionally, block off 1 each of the Refugee and Building action slots, so only 1 of each is available.".
Nice to see you getting to play a nice bit of tower defence.

@@rahdo Oh,...I read that as remove cards down to one in the offer,...funny how easy it is to read words other than those written. Reducing the range of cards available is obviously not the same as having only a single action placement available. Cheers.

I am afraid that as a multiplayer game this wouldn't work for my group, because we would want to do the battles one by one, and that would take forever, but as a solo it looks fantastic!
yeah, if you don't have a group where you trust everybody to do simultaneous actions, this would go on a bit long!
If this one would be on KS at the monent, I would back it. Looking really good.
i think it's getting a new campaign launched in april on gamefound (the competition for kickstarter)
@@rahdo Do you have any thoughts on Gamefound? I only just heard of that website for the first time because of the Robinson Crusoe Collector's Edition campaign that is currently going on. Are you aware of anything that makes it better or worse than KS?
@@rossparker01 i think it offeres more options for how to back than being stuck in preset configurations, and i guess it's much better for the project runner as well, but i haven't' looked very closely at it.

Also one question, is there a worker placement place which is taken always first by first player ? I feel like scout is really great spot and so taken always first by the first player? Or is it just my imagination? :D
I just don't like that in worker placement games, where one spot is clearly better to chose for yourself as soon as you get a chance, rather than leave it to your oponents to grab on their turn and grab on other turn when opponents have not taken it.

Kinda looks like that Great War game but with a medieval skin on it, granted I’ve never played either
