This all I wanted to see, simple, informative, and to the point, not like all these other dudes documenting their whole morning and unnecessary shots of them driving to the store and them being at the store and leaving the store getting home talking and talking 🤦♂️
Facts
It's almost perfect. The only things missing are suggestions about the dye and international measurement system
What is the name of the colour dye used for the 270?
purple
why does everyone use rit dye
guys fyi you can use salt (and vinegar for more of an effect) as a dye fixative
It’ll help it bond better I sssume??
@@mrrj44 exact same thing I was going to ask..
@@mrrj44 correct
how much?
it depends on the material you're dyeing... if you're dyeing wool sneakers like Allbirds you want to use an acid based dye and then either vinegar or citric acid as the mordant (fixative) ... Glauber salt can act as a leveling agent. if it's a plant based material you need a fiber reactive dye and an alkaline mordant. for polyester... you can use various brands of dye but they have to say for polyester and I don't recommend it because it's nasty AF. I dyed polyester one time and that was my last time lol. the fumes were terrible. it's basically plastic. lol.
1: Apron or old clothes
2: Rubber Gloves
3: Something to mix with
4: Liquid dish soap
5: Container
6: Water
7: Die
Me: okay
^ this dude said "die".
Woofer Gram i don't think you understand the comment you just read
Woofer Gram woooosh
@@woofergram8796 🤣🤣🤣
I dont think it's a mixed drink bro
Dammit, I wish I has access to water.
Yeah, I'm in Africa too 😔
@ambii’s playlist not my part 😔

FYI, spread vaseline over the sole to avoid it getting stained
THIS is what I came here for!
Thanks so much!
wait what.. the Outsole?? or.. i hadn’t seen anyone use vaseline this is new to me
@@27bktd Yes, you can spread it along the rubber and the sole won´t get stained. Use a genearous quantity, and make sure it doesn´t get in contact with the parts of the shoe you want to dye. In my case I used tape to separate the sole from the fabric and removed it after applying the vaseline
You are a hero ily
But the tape won’t adhere to the sole if there’s Vaseline on there. How does that work?
In my experience, washing, or submerging your sneakers in anything much warmer than lukewarm water weakens or melts the sole glue, resulting in the shoe falling apart soon after you start wearing them again…
this isnt tabasko sweet my dudes

wtf dyes air units? thats crazy
This is really a how to give your sneakers a light tint more than a true dye.
Do you know how to make them darker? been wanting to dye some shoes forest green
@@TehChildish from what i’ve seen, leaving them in for a longer time will make the color longer. closer to a day than just an hr. but that’s for leather shoes
@@TehChildish more dye ........ erm
@@TehChildish add tea spoon of black
@@TehChildish try hair dye, or sharpies and spray with alcohol (if you don’t want streaks).
The sole gets stained to and not very evenly. Could i put some drawing gum masking fluid to protect it?
Hi I have a pink knitted nike running shoes, I wish to dye it black.
Will bleaching get rid of the pink?
Also in my country we only have "gamusa nubuck pigskin canvas" dye. Will that work on my knitted nike shoes if ever I somehow bleached it?
Will the dye fade when it get rained on? its rainy in my country. Thanks!
I love that this channel is so versatile, yet consistent on covering important aspects of fashion and lifestyles. Always uplaoding great content. Thanks, it's appreciated
Hi Highsnobiety dev!
Dario Hassankhani what? I appreciate it. They cover so much but it's all in the same ball park. So it suits everything I like
N3bur _ what?
Dario Hassankhani those are your negative opinions, I didn't hear anything you liked. Which confuses me as to why you still watch the videos and scroll through comments if you hate it so much. But it suits me, because I don't usually take ideas or follow every move of hype. But every once in a while I like to tie my ideas with videos like this. They do a good job of promoting creatives which is why I stay here.
Dario Hassankhani If you've heard that more than a few times, then that's a reflection of how you spend too much time complaining online.
it doesn't work...
Can i dye mine white....they are dirty 🤣😩
I bet this was a troll and they made another video on "how to fix a bad dye job" lol
My sophmore self bought hot pink converse and never worn them. Will hot pink turn to black fairly easily with this method, or will you still see a pink tint?
Hi, Hes Kicks wants his content ideas back
big fact
Yeah but these don’t look like total ass
did hes kicks invent fabric dye? lmfaooo okay
These look like shit
Try doing a "Garnet from Steven Universe" style dye for synthetic speed trainers.
I did this but the thread of my superga sneakers didn't change its color :/ but still I had a good result
it depends on how synthetic (fake) the material is. 100% cotton will accept a lot of dye. plastic will not.
Well made video, except that background music makes it impossible for me to focus on the content
Terrible. Came out like shit.
What if I’m tryna keep the midsole white?
tape
will come off in hot water
@@shawtyshorts lol got em
masking glue. look it up. its like liquid masking tape in a paintable glue substance. would probably protect pretty well. and it peels off. might work....
Waterproof tape
Am I tripping or is this fake how did they dye the mid soles
It just happened during the shoot, the dye bonded to the mid-sole!
Royal Tim it’s because it wasn’t white to begin with. You probably need to remove the already added dye
can you black out dye fabric sneakers with this technique? Or should I go for fabric paint instead? (I want to paint red shoes into black)
Dude...I tried this method on my red flyknits...ugh. Don't waste your time.
Guess I'll be spending more money on paint.
Should i dye my cream 350s hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Thank you!! Needed this!
if your sneakers are acrylic fabric this doesn't really work
Keep laces on, better look.
I regret buying white shoes for my job, hope this works!
Anyone know how to do this with Crocs? That EVA foam material? Thanks, appreciate it.
So you dye also the mid sole? Yea right!
Use masking tape to cover it
what if you don't want the rubber bits to be dyed?
put some tape on
or rubber cement.
does this work if my slip on shoes are already colored, mine are purple, but do they have to be white, or do I need to get them to be white to dye properly?
id think putting sneakers in super hot water would degrade the glues holding the shoe together.
Mark Nash did this w AF1s and sold them on NTWRK app for $300/ pair
Do you think the dye absorbs well into the rubber sole if it is white? Seemed like it did in this video.
I followed the instructions to the letter. Totally ruined my New Balance sneakers, the hot water separated the soles from the uppers. To add insult to injury, the white shoes never took the dye. Oh well, WTF is $250 down the drain?!
Thank god I saw your comment lol, was about to do this to my white 550s, maybe not …
@@harryhelm9760 I've got a pair of New Balance sneakers that I'm selling for a great price! The soles are removable for wearing in the house.
Hi, any tips on what to do so that the bottom of the shoes remains white?
Ppl in Flint Michigan punching the air rn 😂
Really helpful! I'm needing running shoes and am thinking about New Balance since they have the best functionality, but who wants orange or neon colored shoes that fit Just Right lol. Gonna use this to change up the color, actual application. Once I end up buying them when these crap shoes I have die or I get tired enough to splurge on it, I'll update and let yall know how well it worked (if I remember)
did it end up working?
@@Eramor my crap shoes aren't as crap as I thought! Ended up buying some cheap insoles since mine were wearing out. So still to be determined, sorry man lol
@@LemonyFresh2000 hey man at least you know the shoes you have right now are durable
EVERYTHING'S DYED. eh.. nah.
If I dye the acw volmero 5 white to red would it come out the same?
Any online recommendations for a dye for Nike Flyknits?
can you die sneakers that are black a different color? do you have to bleach it first?
You have to bleach it first
We don't want to dye the sole , how to avoid that?
I came here for this… someone above talked about applying Vaseline. Did you find any other methods?
Dying your sneakers yourself is way more valuable than buying new sneakers.
But sometimes the dumbass dye is more expensive than the shoes
How much water do you use (for the first step--dying)?
Xoes this work on rubber?
Should I spend an extra 20 bucks to get custom converse or do all this?!?! I need to decideeeeee
HOTWATER will KILL THE glue that holds them lol no thanks lol
Will the dye work to dye clear rubber soles?
did u ever find out?
Which dye will I use. If you have any web ink please send. My shoe's colour is black and I want to make them black again. Please suggest.
What if you only wand to dye only part of the sneaker? Some of mine has suede and fabric
seems ok but how would u keep the midsole white?
some guy u cant
Vaseline
Any way to dye just the top of your kicks because of fading? I have a pair of orange Nike Darts that had too much sun on top so they're a light orange on the front. Maybe a pat dye? Idk. 😕
try to dye the whole thing then use acetone after
Can I change the color of a black felt that’s on a pair of shoes. The felt it black I think they would awesome grey. The shoes are Jordan swift.
I just want to change some colored trim do I just use ink with brush
Can anyone helps me i need to change my grey sneakers to white what paint should i use?
I have some yellow shoes and want to have them like black, grey kind of does that work?
If I'm able to get these ko ajs in a few mins imma be dyeing them up all pretty, since I need a pair of shoes I can say I added to
I need advice on blacking out my ultraboost harlems
Now how do we get the dye off of the rubber soles? Lol
I came across this video trying to find methods for dying the upper but with leaving the sole white. If you haven’t dyed already, someone suggested using Vaseline to block the dye. If you’ve already done it, I read on another website someone was able to use acetone, magic eraser pads, and dye remover. Rit has a dye remover (Walmart or craft stores have it with the Rit dye, fabric art section) and they made a thick paste with it to apply to the sole.
Damm why did i spray paint my shoes?! i wish i would of known this was an option
Does any one know if I can do this to boxing gloves?
I wana dye a,pair of yellow and orange shox tl navy blue would it work
Can someone suggest good dyes for my Nike vapourmax
I followed all steps except dish soap and put them in the wash and all the color came off
Just say fkn salt
2 fish tanks.
This is the second video I've followed and still, my red Flyknit just look dirty AF now. I used RIT dyemore (graphite). The toe and heel, still red, just super dirty looking. The vapormax bubbles, clear and dirty looking!!!
What gives?
They took away the thumbs down count on videos and now things like this happen. Flyknit threading could have a poly or waterproof coating (or random oil?). If you could find a way to submerge the upper in iso alcohol or something strong like everclear (it has no additives) and swish it around for 30 seconds to a minute, that should strip off any coating or anything. Then the dye will take better if that was the problem. Just be careful not to submerge any seams of the shoe that are held together with glue, as alcohol is a solvent. Alternatively you COULD soak a rag/sponge with alcohol and scrub the areas but unless you are incredibly thorough, that would probably be less effective. The toe you could probably get the inside AND the outside with the rag/sponge though.
Hi!! What if you don't want to dye the sole of the shoes, what do you to do to keep the color of the sole?
Tape them I think
Vaseline parts you dont want to dye
Can hair dye work too?
it will fade
Hair dye?
would this work on leather/pleather shoes? air force 1s?
Katie Power no this is fabric dye
I am a waitress and I need to wear black shoes but I only have a white pair that look and feel really good on my feet.. I've been trying to dye them black all morning but It's just coming out this faded gray :(
use a lot of dye and leave them in for a day or 2
kIcKs
Has anyone tried this with New Balance sneakers?
Very annoying background beating..
Would prepping the sneakers with acetone bring a better overall outcome?
probably not, but you can google it. acetone might work better with natural dye, not synthetic.
No. I did. Didn't work. I wonder if it's because all these videos are using brand new and ultra white sneakers
@@DanjerousCurvz11 nvm just seen this. if acetone didnt work iso wont either
I wanna dye some hyper royal 1s highs but want to keep that cloud effect but change the colour. Anyone know if this possible at all?
You would think that the shoes shoes should be dry so that soak up the dye.... If they are already saturated seems it would be harder. But what do I know.
Having them wet already helps with even absorption so the color is not splotchy.
Using water to clean suede is a big no no.
Can you dye pink sneakers to different color. Or do they have to be white to go through the dying process
are you familiar with the color wheel? google it
could i dye a red shoe to black ?
Does it stays like that forever?
If I wanted to dye the vapour max a dark purple or a burgundy or dark green would I buy the black vapour max’s or would it not work on them, or buy the white ones?
Have you ever tried the brown?
What about fly knit air forces
Interesting lol, 😅👌🏾
you just ruined those shoes mate
can i use shoes that aren’t white?
What model are those puma?
What is the of the dye please
Very great instruction
What about leather shoes/boots
Those came out bogus 😂
Can you use the Rit dye on leather or pleather?
