How To Dye Sneakers | Custom Dunk Lows Using Rit Dye

- Welcome back to another episode of "Customs & Restorations with Vick". This week Vick created 4 pack of custom Nike Dunks to giveaway to 4 lucky winners!
For starters, Vick allowed the 4 pairs of Dunks to soak in a tub of hot water - this process will allow the sneakers to become more receptive to the dye. Once that soak was complete, it was time for another soak, this time in yellow, blue, green, and purple dye. After soaking in the dye for 12 hours, Vick rinsed each shoe and then submerged them in salt and vinegar water to lock in the dye.
Once the shoes dried, our Sr. Graphic Designer, Julian Martinez, helped Vick laser engrave each shoe. One shoe featured a rabbit, the other featured "OSETERHAZE" - aka the "Easter Hare" in German. D-Nice Customs (@dnicecustoms on IG) hooked us up with some custom insoles to bring this work of art together!

This video would of been a 10/10 if you would of told us the amount of water you add, how long you let it sit there with the cold water, hot water, vinegar/salt just more detail in general so we can follow along, and get similar results or better.
And if he had to weight down the shoes so they wouldn’t float, and mess up the dye process

it looks like Dawn dish soap? if you look before he pours everything in, the bottle is right behind the dyes. hope this helps!

After using sole revive for a 7 hour session I am seeing white stain marks on my soles around where I applied the sauce and it looks like it spreads , there no way I'm the only one experiencing this problem , had it happen with salon care and sole revive .. ANY help would be much appreciated !

The blue ones are fye, same with the mints and the yellows. I never liked dunks but I’m a sucker for Nikes that are one color all the way thru, I would actually wear these dunks if I got my hands on them. Are they a really short suede or nubuck that they hold that color? Or is it leather?

I wonder if this would work on a pair of Jordan 1 Low Og Neutral Grey ? Has anyone tried this on a pair that is leather and has a suede nike swoosh? I'm thinking about doing it, and my main concern is about the suede swoosh. Would it work on the suede, and would it be a darker color than the leather ?
Hey its oster with a long o sound not the a or h sound. My family that immigrated from Germany were the osterhoffs shortened to oster when they came here. I know this video is old as hell but still wanted to set that strainght and say thinks wanted to know if it would work

im rocking with the yellow and purple but would pass on the other two. kinda with the hype on dunks wasn't so high then I could actually use the nike ID to make some dunks that I would want

I tried following exactly your advice but the color did not take on the leather of the sneakers .... even if before I had treated them well with acetone. I don't understand why :(

Why add liquid soap and some people even add salt?? What would be the difference from adding that stuff or just the rit dye and water?
